The attitude of France towards the US security policy

One of the most surprising aspects of the renaissance of scholarly interest in culture has been the emerging consensus in national security policy studies that culture effects significantly grand strategy and state behaviour. Therefore, the paper tries to advance rigorous procedures for testing for the existence and influence of security and strategic culture of different national states. It builds mainly on the definition of Alastair I. Johnston (1995) and Jeffrey S. Lantis (2002), who relate security and strategic culture with the definition of main goals/objectives of the state in security affairs and with ways of achieving them. As a case study, the paper will evaluate the approaches of the United States and France towards security threats in the early 21st century, especially towards the threat of global terrorism. It will assess whether and why when achieving security objectives, defined at the highest political level, persuasive or coercive strategy and military or non-military tools were preferred; whether negotiations, diplomacy and political pressure were favoured, or whether it was rather opted for deployment of armed forces and warfare. The text attempts to show how the differences in security and strategic culture, American and French particular identities, values, norms and perceptive lens might lead to different understandings of terrorism as global security threat and to distinct measures taken in the fight against it.

Důsledky zákona č. 108/2006 Sb. o sociálních službách v péči o klienty centra ARPIDA, o.s.

The purpose of this bachelor work was to chart the consequences of the Act No. 108/2006 of Collection of Laws on social services from the perspective of daily clients of ARPIDA Centre in České Budějovice. Regarding the fact I have been working in social services of ARPIDA Centre already from 2002 year, I can immediately observe an influence or eventually an improvement of clients´ possibilities to utilize social services of the establishment. A theoretical part of the work deals with a history of the genesis and basic characteristics of the Act No. 108/2006 of Collection of Laws. Further it devotes to problems of the care contribution. A component of the theoretical part of this work is also a presentation of ARPIDA Centre and all its registered social services which this organization provides to clients with physical as well as combined handicaps at the age from 3 to 26 years. It concerns those social services {--} Personal Assistance, Social Welfare Institution, Early Care, Social Rehabilitation and Social-therapeutical Workshops. The practical part of the work has been a result of an anonymous elaboration of an enquiry investigation and it provides complete information on consequences and changes brought by the Act on social services to daily clients of ARPIDA Centre. It makes a detail inquiry over the availability and range of social service offers for daily clients of ARPIDA Centre. Based on acquired data it evaluates clients´ opinions of the Act No. 108/2006 of Collection of Laws on social services, especially their view concerning the care contribution. Conclusions of this bachelor work should support as a feedback for the workers in ARPIDA Centre and that way also to achieve a significant improvement of the quality and enlargement of social service offers provided in České Budějovice.

Possibilities of follow-up social services for users with multiple disabilities over 18 years from České Budějovice and surroundings

The aim of this diploma thesis was to map a current range of social services for users with multiple disabilities over 18 years from České Budějovice and the surrounding area and also to find an interest in individual types of social services from a perspective of their legal representatives. The theoretical part deals with a concept of the combined disability and its basic division. Further it devotes in detail to social services that are determined for clients with multiple disabilities over 18 years. A part of the theoretical there is also a list of organizations currently providing social services for this target group in České Budějovice and surroundings. A conclusion of the theoretical part devotes to a community planning, its history and present days in the South Bohemian region as well as directly in the town of České Budějovice. The practical part has been processed by a quantitative research method, specifically in a form of an anonymous questionnaire survey and it provides a comprehensive information on a fact, which social services are currently used by the legal representatives of the users with multiple disabilities over 18 years from České Budějovice, what services they are in future interested in and how they would imagine their functioning. This part also summarizes information how the legal representatives of users with combined disabilities over 18 years participate in an establishment of new social services and it maps their awareness of the community planning. The conclusions of the diploma thesis should serve as a feedback to organizations providing social services for users with multiple disabilities over 18 years. Furthermore, they could be used as a source for the community plan and to help for an extension of the offer of provided social services in České Budějovice.
