The image of slave in Patrick Chamoiseau's Creol tales.

v anglickém jazyce The subject of this diploma thesis is the work of the francophone writer Patrick Chamoiseau. The thesis reflects especially the theme of slavery in short stories and fairy tales of this Martinique author. The diploma thesis puts Patrick Chamoiseau's work in a historical and political context as well as the personal life of the writer. The diploma thesis describes geographic and cultural particularities of the Lesser Antilles and analyzes in more detail the story The Slave Old Man and the Giant Dog and selected fairy tales. Based on this analysis, the thesis describes typical themes and language tools used by Patrick Chamoiseau. The thesis also deals with oral literature and culture of Martinique and the current problems of society are also discussed through a reflection of another work by Patrick Chamoiseuau.

The thesis analyses novels l'Étranger and Meursault, contre-enquête, which represent an example of literary dialogue reflecting problems associated with postcolonial society. The comparison of texts shows changes made by Kamel Daoud and the shifting values taking place in this transformation. Emphasis is placed on the characters, and especially on the onomastic system, to illustrate the main difference in the message of selected novels. The introduction focuses on contradictory public perception of writers and their native country, Algeria. The main part compares semantic differences of these two books. To strengthen the comparison, the word frequency analysis has been used and it showed important disproportions between both texts. The conclusion discusses the crucial role of language, which in both cases is divided into two contradictory categories that are the source of certain tension. The result of this work is an interpretation of Daoud's work, in which the possibilities of new interpretations of Camus's work also appear, partly thanks to the comparison with texts written by important postcolonial theoreticians. Diatopic changes in the range of characters of the French-Czech fairy tales

THE ABSTRAKT This thesis aims to cover typological differences between the fairy tale characters from French (Charles Perrault, Marie-Catherine d'Aulnoy) and Czech (Božena Němcová, Karel Jaromír Erben) folklore fairy tales. First, the author presents the definition of fairy tale (Vladimir Yakovlevič Propp, Karel Čapek), which is defined from the point of view of different theories. This thesis covers only the characters from folklore fairy tales, therefore the folklore fairy tale will be shortly defined as well. The thesis also analyses the differences of the behaviour and the portrait of the characters appearing in thematically similar fairy tales. Fairy Tales in French Language Teaching

This diploma thesis deals with the topic of fairy tales in French language teaching. The first part is dedicated to the definition of fairy tales as literary texts and to the presentation of general aspects related to the use of literary forms in foreign language teaching. The subsequent parts are focused exclusively on fairy tales. First of all, the fairytale genre is generally introduced. Afterwards, several ways of the application of fairy tales in French classes are outlined, with regard to the focus on language skills and sub-skills. The practical part includes more subsections, however, it mainly aims at the analysis of the role of fairy tales in French language teaching in the Czech Republic. Therefore, it consists of the analysis of significant French textbooks and of a questionnaire survey aimed at Czech lower secondary and high school teachers. The textbook analysis verifies the presence of fairy tales in didactic materials, whereas the aforementioned survey examines the experience and opinions of foreign language teachers on this issue. Finally, three worksheets, based on recently acquired knowledge, are created to serve as the source of inspiration and motivation for the use of fairy tales in foreign language teaching. The female characters in the work of George Sand

This thesis is concerned with an important persone of the first half of the 19th century, French writer George Sand. The main purpose of the thesis is to reveal whether the writer is one of the key authors of French romanticism in Czech schools and whether the Czech schoolchild has an opportunity to acquaint themselves with her rural novels. The thesis contains a theoretical and a practical part. The practical part briefly mentions her biography, gives an overview of the main periods of her work and is subsequently closely concerned with George Sand's rural novels. Since Sand creates an image of an ideal human being in her rural novels, in our analysis of these novels we focused on the characteristics of the main characters and on the realistic and idealistic elements present in the novels. In the end of the theoretical part we dealt with Sand's influence on Czech writers of the 19th century, especially on Božena Němcová and Karolína Světlá. The practical part is based on a research, which was conducted in selected Czech schools (in Pilsen area and Prague). The aim of this research was, as has been mentioned before, to chart the standing of George Sand in the curriculum of world literature.
