Folklore in the Region of Jihlava - Vysočan: set of songs and dances of region Horacko

This thesis is to introduce the folklore in the region Horácko in a hitherto unknown way. Based on the archive files, the aim was to describe the formidable establishment of the folklore group 'Vysočan', its development and promotion in the field of folk dances and songs in the Czech Republic and abroad as well. I tried to explore information that is not available in common tourist brochures about folklore in the city of Jihlava and its surroundings. With this fact are connected the parts of this thesis describing various activities of the folklore group. For instance, 'Horácký bál', which I have introduced in this work and which also provides an extraordinary backstage insight, has been never described as well as 'Jihlavské folklorní léto'. Nevertheless, there would not have been any folklore, if there had not been typical folk costumes. There are several publications concerning this topic, but they are hard to find and what is more, sometimes we can find some misunderstanding information in them. Part of this thesis describing the folk costumes should bring records corresponding to reality and highlight some interesting notes taken from various scientific publications. Changes in Textile Industry in the Broumov Region

10. Resumé Diplomová práce se zabývá vznikem a rozvoJem textilního průmyslu na Broumovsku. Soustřeďuje se na vývoj soukenictví, plátenictví a bavlnářství a zachycuje tyto tři obory textilní výroby tak, jak na sebe navzájem navazují. Součástí práce je také krátký nástin životní dráhy nejvýznamnějších osobností tohoto průmyslu na Broumovsku. Pozornost je věnována jejich snaze o rozvoj textilu a o neustálé zlepšování sociální politiky pro jejich zaměstnance. V neposlední řadě práce přibližuje i současný vývoj textilního průmyslu, jeho úskalí, ale i úspěšné překonávání obtížných období. Cílem této práce je vymezit stěžejní období a rozhodující události, které měly vliv na průběh textilního podnikání. Práce zachycuje tradici, kteráje po staletí nedílnou součástí Broumovska. 81

Opportunites and limits of museum and school cooperation

Master's thesis OPPORTUNITIES AND LIMITS OF MUSEUM AND SCHOOL COOPERTION deals with settings of the collaboration among school and museum. Thesis is divided into two basic parts. The first theoretical part is intended on definition of museum as an educational institution and it's relationship to the formal school educational system. The attention is paid to the exted of presence of museum as a facilitator of educational activities, the subject of education and the informal learning centre in the national school curriculum and to the conditions for succesful cooperation with schools. The second (empiric) part describes a research analysing the scope of the offer for schools in Prague provided by local museums, particularly in terms of coverage of national school curricilum goals.

The development of Housing throughout 19th and 20th century

This bachelor thesis deals with the development of housing during 19th and 20th century. It is focused on the living in towns and cities. The first chapter introduces définitions of the basic concepts of "town"and "urbanization" that are dosely associated with the topič of the work. In the following parts there is a description of the individual types of houses in différent periods. The important space is given to the theory of functionalism, firstly in a generál way, later directly to the functional architecture between the world wars. Finally, it mentions dégradation of functionalist ideas after the Second World War including description of modem type of housing, so called satellites.

The Garden Town of Barrandov

The thesis "Zahradní město Barrandov" (Garden City Barrandov) focuses on the emergence and subsequent development of the district in Prague, which is still popular today, until the period of the Second World War. The aim of the work was to depict and describe not only the initial plan of the building engineer Václav Maria Havel, the single author, builder and investor of the garden city, but also to investigate events related to the subsequent implementation of the plan. The materials and information have been retrieved mainly from the recollections by Václav Maria Havel summed up in the book entitled Mé vzpomínky (My Memories) and from testimonies by his contemporaries. Also used were the following primary sources: building designs, period leaflets, advertising broadsheets published by Obchodní kancelář (the Business Office of Barrandov), photographs and contemporary periodicals. Secondary sources focusing on interwar architecture and building trade in general, as well as suggestions by experts in the field, were also of help.
