Sewage sludge is a potential source of organic matter and nutrients for plants and soil microflora, on the other side it contains potentially hazardous trace elements. Activity of glutamate kinase as stress indicator of plant metabolism was determined in spinach biomass and its increased activity (by 66%) was induced on sewage treatments.

Analytes were determined by ICP-AES and GF AAS method.
