The First Audio-visual Experience
Gojdičová, Alexandra ; Bagdasarov, Georgij (advisor) ; Růžičková, Alice (referee)
My bachelor's thesis The First Audio-visual Experience (A Contribution of Developmental Psychology to Theory of Editing) is focused on a very early stage of infant development (up to the second year) when the first audio-visual experiences initiate the creation of basic cognitive structures - space, time, permanent objects and ?myself?. These structures anticipate the language structures. These terms represent the basic part of the film language based on nonsemantic perception. In this work I compare the knowledge of developmental psychology and film theories /Griffith, Vertov, Tarkovskij, Mitry, Brakhage) and focus on rhytm as a basic way to build cinematic space and time.

Gyumri, the family oracle
Tara, Tereza ; Kubica, Petr (advisor) ; Růžičková, Alice (referee)
This work is trying to explain the documentary film Gyumri by a Czech film director Jana Ševčíková by using the heritage of ancient Toltec wisdom. Her film is touching basic questions of life and death. With etnographic approach, Ševčíková shows the people in the city of Gyumri, which was affected by destructive earthquake in 1988, who have to deal with the ephemerality of life. The families from this city are facing the catastrophe by giving their new born children same names, as they gave to the children, who died during the earthquake. In this work, I?m making a research on this phenomenon, his roots and reflection in the life of contemporary peple in our society. This text is an essay on how the author and the audience can understand this theme, so they get as much experiences as possible to inrich their life. Like this film, this text is an oracle. It is a mirror, reflecting something, what happens very deep inside.

Vladimír Rula, the prince of in situ film
Všetečková, Helena ; Růžičková, Alice (advisor) ; Vachek, Karel (referee)
The topic of my work is Mr. Vladimír Rula, in situ film maker (documentarist) from Česká Třebová. He is known among amateurs but his work has not been broadly covered in wirtten works. Owing to the fact that in situ film is a rather unknown and little studied field, I tried to describe him through the perspective of the in situ art and poetry/novel; the characteristic of Vladimír Rula is derived from our talks and from interviews with other artists who either know him or his work. During his life Mr. Vladimír Rula has made hundreds, maybe thousands of films. Many of them were presented at festivals of amateur films, others were seen only by his wife Slávka. It is quite substatial to intorduce his films to the public which is a matter requiring a longer period of time.

By the way of several examples, it shows basic creative methods and main thematic areas of his films. The text is based ? besides of sources quoted in the references ? on the personal interview with Jørgen Leth conducted in July 2008 during the International Film Festival in Karlovy Vary. Important part of the thesis creates exhaustively elaborated list of Leth?s films supplemented with short annotations and some pictures captured from the movies. Except of full-length experimental film The Five Obstructions (2005) directed together with Lars von Trier, there is a lack of knowledge of his work in the Czech Republic.
