The social support as possible predictor of mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic

The Covid-19 pandemic, which affected the whole world, has had many consequences for people's lives. These were not only the consequences for the physical health, but also the deterioration of the mental health of the population compared to the period before the pandemic. This diploma thesis examines what can support people's mental health at this time. One of the possible predictors of mental health is social support. This thesis aims to find out whether it proves to be a predictor of mental health even in a pandemic, when social contacts are forcibly limited and people can easily get into social isolation. The literature review part deals with the concept of mental health and well-being, mental health during the pandemic, the concept of social support and its impact on mental health. In the research part, data from a questionnaire survey conducted within the framework of international research were analyzed. Data collection took place between December 2020 and January 2021, when the pandemic situation in the Czech Republic was one of the worst in Europe. Multiple regression analysis showed that perceived social support from family, government and work is a significant predictor of mental health in the context of a pandemic. The connection between the ability of guided imagery and the personality characteristics of an individual

This diploma thesis deals with the connection between personality characteristics and the ability to visualize. The literature review section contains an overview of informations about guided imagery, their types and differences from other mind-body interventions (e.g. hypnosis or meditation). Furthermore, studies are summarized discussing the possibilities of using guided imagery and the effect of individual differences in the effectiveness of this technique. The research part builts on the previous research summary. The experimental study deals with the question of what personality characteristics are related to the ability to visualize mental images. Participants were asked to listen to a short relaxing guided imagery, followed by the completion of a questionnaire to evaluate the entire experience and also to complete the NEO-FFI personality questionnaire. Burnout syndrome in the context of nursing

The content of this thesis is a research study investigating the relationship between burnout levels experienced by nurses working in the Czech Republic, Costa Rica, Spain and some US states. Through an online questionnaire, their degree of empathy, emotional attachment, and level of education were determined A questionnaire was developed by using the Copenhagen Burnout Inventory (CBI) in health personnel, Interpersonal Reactivity Index (IRI) to measure of dispositional empathy, Experiences in Close Relationships - Relationship Structures (ECR-RS) to assess attachment patterns in a variety of close relationships and an Emotion Thermometers tool a simple rapid modular screening tool for detection and monitoring of emotional disorders in clinical practice. Part of the questionnaire are an anamnestic questions to also analyze the demographic data. The questionnaire was sent by email to nurses working in the above countries. The group comprised a sample of 1123 nurses represented in the study from September 2018 to January 2019.

It is divided into four syndromes: childhood absences (CAE), juvenile absences (JAE), juvenile myoclonic epilepsy (JME) and epilepsy with generalized tonic-clonic seizures (GTCS). Some studies have suggested that patients with IGE may exhibit deficits in cognitive domains such as intelligence, attention, memory, executive function, motor function, and speech function. The most affected area appeared to be the domain of execution, specifically the ability of verbal fluency. Medications, depression, impaired quality of life and other risk factors can also contribute significantly to cognitive impairment. Moreover, the siblings of these patients may also show a slight decrease in performance in neuropsychological tests. In addition, significant brain changes were found in patients with IGE, especially in the thalamus. This bachelor thesis discusses the fear of hypoglycemia at patients who have diagnosed diabetes mellitus of first type. This thesis is divided into two parts. There is a theoretical part, which deals with problematic of diabetes mellitus, with its characteristic, symptoms, diagnostic, treatment and complications. Next theme of this theoretical part is deals with fear, anxiety, depression and emotional structure or attachments. Empirical part of this bachelor thesis is dedicated to fear of low level sugar in blood in relation to depression, anxiety, emotional attachments and other demographic and clinic factors. The conclusion of the practical part describes the sample of respondents and determines the results of the research. The research for this thesis was based on six questionnaires, which respondents received in this order - a non-standardized anamnesis questionnaire, research of low level of sugar in blood at adults (HFS - II), Beck's self-judged scale of anxiety (BAI), Beck's Depression Scale (BDI- II), Experiences in close relationships (ECR) and Generalized Anxiety Disorder - 7 (GAD - 7). Depression, anxiety and quality of life in adult patients after burn injury

The diploma thesisfocuseson the issue of depression,anxiety and quality of life in adult patients after burn trauma. The literature review section presents current scientific studies that apply to the diagnosis,prevalence,treatmentand selectedrisk factorsfordepressionand anxiety in this patient population. This part of the thesis also deals with the definition and methodsof assessing the quality of life in patients with burns, including factors that may affect the subjectively perceived quality of life in this population. The empirical part aims to identify patients with MDE and GAD according to M.I.N.I. and to examine risk factors not only for these mental disorders but also for reduced quality of life. Furthermore, the research focuses on the validation of the visual analog screening method of Emotional Thermometers in patients after burn trauma. A total of 292 hospitalized patients with burns participated in the study, of which 27 (9 %) met the diagnostic criteria for MDE (current, past, recurrent). 10 patients (3.5 %) met the diagnostic criteria of GAD. Statistically significant predictors of MDE are: antidepressant use and surprisingly a lower extent of burns. Cognitive profile of the patients after burn trauma

The topic of the bachelor thesis is the cognitive profile of patients after burn trauma. The literature review section is focused on the description of basic knowledge about the burn trauma and current findings of the cognitive profile in the population of burn patients. The final chapter of the theoretical part deals with possible causes of cognitive deficit and possibilities of cognitive rehabilitation. The empirical part of the thesis is devoted to the proposed quantitative research, which aims to describe the cognitive profile of patients after the burn trauma. Shinrin-yoku as a possible method of stress reduction

Pressure on performance is characteristic for current society. Constatly increasing demands cause many people increasing level of perceived stress. Chronic stress has become a serious problem nowadays, causing a significant number of physical and psychological problems. It is therefore important to focus primarily on stress prevention rather than on the elimination of adverse effects of stress. This bachelor thesis is focused on Shinrin-yoku as a possible method of stress reduction. The main principles of Shinrin-yoku are described, possible physiological and psychological mechanisms involved in the effect of practicing Shinrin-yoku, proven physiological and psychological effects of practicing Shinrin-yoku and practical applications of this method are mentioned as well. The research proposal is devised as a quantitative research with an experimental design. The aim of this research project is to find out how Shinrin-yoku influences selected physiological and psychological parameters.
