The diploma thesis focuses on fast growing Asia-Pacific region, which is believed to become an important centre of the world economy in future. Thesis focuses on position of China in the region and dedicates to possibility of creation of common market. Thesis defines the region, describes the main regional groupings and analyses trade flows, capital flows, migration of labour force and science and technology cooperation in the region.
Renewable energy sources in overequatorial Africa and their utilization

The aim of this thesis is to prove by detailed analysis that renewable energy sources are the way forward to achieve self-suficiency and economic growth in Africa. The first chapter describes the renewable sources of energy and the conditions that influence their production. The second chapter focuses on the current situation and a prognosis of future development of the use of renewable sources of energy in Northern Africa. Further along the thesis examines the option to produce energy from renewable sources through cooperation with developed countries. The obtained information is applied to the case study of DESERTEC, which is the focus of chapter three.
Development aid and selected non-governmental organizations in the Czech Republic

This bachelor's thesis deals with the Czech development cooperation. Its aim is to analyse the provision of development aid of the Czech Republic, not only by government but also by non-governmental organizations (Bwindi Orphans, People in need and ADRA). The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part focuses on the substance of development aid, its reasons and goals. Moreover it is dedicated to the official development assistance of the Czech Republic. The practical part represents a case study based on my own research that deals with non-governmental organizations in the Czech Republic and their role in providing development assistance.
WTO and the Dispute Settlement Mechanism

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to characterize the WTO as an international organization with emphasis on the existing dispute settlement mechanism. The first and second chapter presents a general part where WTO and dispute settlement mechanism within the organization are described. The end of the second chapter is dedicated to the results of the current dispute settlement mechanism and the question whether this mechanism is trustworthy. The third chapter includes a case study on analysis of a dispute between American Boeing and European Airbus. Part of this chapter aims to answer the question whether the dispute affected economic results of both companies.
China and the USA: the way to global leadership?

The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to analyze the economic development of China and the USA. The work is divided into three chapters. The first part aims only at the People's Re-public of China. This work explores the reasons for contemporary economic success and evaluates the efforts of the Communist Party of China to bring China closer to the world especially in economic matters. The second chapter is completely devoted to the economic development of the United States of America. Attention is especially focused on economic development at the turn of the millennium. The successful nineties of the last century were replaced with a lot of crises in the twenty-first century. The concluding chapter looks for answer to the question which of these countries is on the better way to reach the first place in the world of the economic view. Information in my bachelor's thesis comes from Czech and foreign printed and web sources.
U.S. economy and economic policy: Republican and Democratic approach

This bachelor thesis is focused on the economy and economic policy of the United States of America, in particular on the evaluation of approaches of selected representatives of the two major political parties (Republican and Democrat) to key issues affecting the economic situation of the country. The first part defines the similarities and differences in opinion between Democrats and Republicans, and there is also a description of the economic situation which formed the basis for the second term of President Bush. In the next sections of my thesis, I describe the economy and economic policy in the period during the rule of selected presidents and their administrations and objectives which they set for that given period. Furthermore, I evaluate whether they were able to meet these objectives. In the last chapter, the fourth, I evaluate the approach of individual presidents and their administrations to real economic issues, and describe the state of the economy at the end of the first term of Barack H. Obama.
The World Rice Market

The thesis researches the world rice market and the related international trade with this commodity. It analyzes the worldwide production and consumption of rice and its economic benefits in the global economy. The paper also describes the development and current situation of the international rice trade and the progress of demand, supply and price is examined as well. Another chapter deals with the trade policy of the main importers and exporters and its impacts on the world rice market. The last chapter investigates the forms of international regulations that have been requested by the global rice trade.
Rise of India in the World Economy

This thesis aims to confirm positive impact of economic reforms on the position of India in the global economy. First chapter focuses on initial conditions and stabilization and development objectives of Indian economy in the beginning of nineties. Second chapter describes instruments and realization of these objectives with regard to domestic economy and foreign trade as well. Third chapter addresses current state of Indian economy. It is also comparing macroeconomic data with data stated in the first chapter and describes international relations and outlines future changes in Indian economy.
Poverty in Sub-Saharan Africa: Causes and elimination strategies

The aim of this work is to highlight the issue of poverty in Sub-Saharan Africa. The first chapter focuses on poverty and its definition, classification and measurement. It also outlines the current situation of Sub-Saharan Africa. The second chapter defines the main causes of poverty in Sub-Saharan Africa, including geographic, colonial heritage, internal political instability and socio-economic and demographic causes. The third chapter deals with international organizations such as the key player solving the problems of poverty. The attention is devoted to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and strategies of the World Bank, as two possible instruments for poverty reduction. The bachelor's thesis draws upon Czech and primaliry foreign Internet resources and books, especially the statistics, annual reports and databases of international institutions.
The position of the EU in the world economy: comparison with USA and Japan

The main purpose of this bachelor's thesis is to evaluate the current status of the European Union as one of the most influential players in the global economy. The analysis uses comparison with the other two major world powers -- USA and Japan. The first part is focused on the performance of the economies in terms of absolute production (GDP) and economic growth. The chapter then identifies the impact of growth on employment, price stability and public finances and defines the major economic and social problems. The second chapter assesses the EU's external relations based on the trade performance and capital flows. It also analyzes the participation in the international transfer of science and technology and labour migration. The aim of the last chapter is to assess the current position of the EU in the world by comparison with the world indicators. Considering this comparison, the chapter defines the main EU problems as particularly decreasing competitiveness in the context of crisis and rapid onset of developing countries. In this chapter are then reported and presented ways how to overcome these problems.
