Negative impacts of renewable resources on environment
Kopeček, Marek ; Chýlek, Radomír (referee) ; Sitek, Tomáš (advisor)
Current society understands the need to protect the environment. Renewable energy resources are one of the major topics of environmental protection. Their benefits are reducing greenhouse gas emissions and reducing dependence on fossil fuels. The production process, operation, recycling, and possible accidents of renewable energy resources are investigated in each chapter. Attention was paid mainly to the most used renewable sources. Finally, the negative impacts are evaluated, and it is defined which renewable energy resources could be classified as ecological.
Use of waste heat of computing systems
Švehla, Michal ; Brázdil, Marian (referee) ; Chýlek, Radomír (advisor)
Using waste heat from computer systems is quiet a new area of research. The goal of this bachelor thesis is to summarize known information from this field, including descriptions of already running data centers. There are described ways of cooling which are used in data centers and mainly possibilities how to use waste heat. In the end there is shown how to evaluate suitability of using waste heat in view of data center power as well as return.
Thermoelectric cloud chamber
Tomčan, Petr ; Chýlek, Radomír (referee) ; Brázdil, Marian (advisor)
This experimental bachelor thesis deals with the design and construction of a thermoelectric cloud chamber for monitoring natural radioactivity and charged particles. The theoretical part of this experimental work characterizes the basic physical principles that are applied in cloud chambers, particles observable in cloud chambers and other types of cloud chambers. The practical part of the work deals with the design and construction of a diffusion cloud chamber with emphasis on intensive heat dissipation. Part of the work is the drawing documentation needed for production and assembly.
Natural biomass burning and character of emissions of these processes
Maňo, Martin ; Köbölová, Klaudia (referee) ; Chýlek, Radomír (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the issue of emissions from natural biomass fires. Emphasis will be placed on aerosol emissions that occur during these natural phenomena. The introduction will discuss in general the natural fires of biomass in the world and their impacts. The next part of the work will investigate the factors that affect the composition, size and composition of aerosols, as well as their impact on living organisms and the environment. Methods will also be described for determining whether an aerosol trapped in the environment is of anthropogenic or natural origin. In the last part, the author will deal with the analysis of data from the measurement of real biomass combustion, in which he will participate
Vortex tube made by additive technology
Spáčil, Petr ; Šnajdárek, Ladislav (referee) ; Chýlek, Radomír (advisor)
The aim of this bachelor's thesis is designing and 3D printing of a detachable Ranque-Hilsch vortex tube. In the following chapters will be presented basic types of vortex tubes and its usage. Then the thesis deals with parameters, that have an impact on the effectiveness of vortex tube. In the main part, the design of individual parts is described. After 3D printing and assembling, the vortex tube's performance is measured with variations of some parameters.
Small Modular Reactors
Tichý, Marek ; Chýlek, Radomír (referee) ; Milčák, Pavel (advisor)
This bachelors thesis is focused on nuclear energy. It describes the generations of nuclear reactors and their representatives. The main goal of this work are small modular reactors which are discussed in more detail. This thesis describes types of reactors, their descriptions and also their use cases.
Design of a unit for utilization of waste heat from a computing system
Valachovič, Filip ; Brázdil, Marian (referee) ; Chýlek, Radomír (advisor)
Global warming and the associated high energy costs are considered as the main problems at presents. As a result, there is an interest in reusing waste energy. This bachelor thesis is devoted to the design and assessment of the potential use of waste heat generated by the systems for the mining cryptocurrencies. The first part of the work deals with the process of mining cryptocurrencies as a whole and their energy consumption. The work, among other things, deals with the possibilities of cooling and subsequent recovery of waste heat from these systems. Part of the work is a theoretical design of a unit for waste heat recovery from mining rigs, considering immersion cooling with the resulting economic balance.
Modern technologies for self-sufficient houses
Popara, Nikola ; Chýlek, Radomír (referee) ; Špiláček, Michal (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with modern technologies for self-sufficient houses. In the theoretical part of the thesis individual energy sources are explained. Sources of energy are divided in two major groups and that is source of heat and source of electrical energy. In the next part of my thesis cost of energy sources from different companies is calculated.
Design of a heat source for heating a family house
Maštera, Václav ; Chýlek, Radomír (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with heating and a proposal of heat source for a family house. The first chapter concerns various heat sources for heating. They're divided by the type of fuel and by the heating method. The second part introduces and describes the house concerned. It also presents calculations of heat losses and the total amount of thermal energy. Following chapter pictures different variants of heating. The last chapter deals with the economic aspect of opted sources for the specific family house.
Design of test equipment for testing air-cooled steam condensers
Líška, Filip ; Chýlek, Radomír (referee) ; Kracík, Petr (advisor)
The work is focused on the design of a testing device for testing air-cooled condenser tubes. At the beginning of work are described basic types of industrial air condensers, possibilities of tube types and their materials. A radial fan that will supply cooling air to the wind tunnel is already purchased for the testing device. For minimum and maximum parameters, the basic geometry and state parameters are first proposed. Subsequently, the basic design was tested in the CFD. The result of the first model was not satisfying because the speed field has not been evenly changed to a straight tunnel. For these conditions, several variants have been tested in the second model, and the "blow" on the tubes inside the wind tunnel has been tested for the best variant.
