The thesis deals the measurement results on a physical model of the inlet part of the small hydro-power plant Vydra 2. The influence of the shape and location of the intake into the pressure pipe of small hydro-power plant Vydra 2 with respect to the water surface state was analysed. The work also deals with possibilities of using devices to eliminate the generation of vortex of higher intensities.
efficiency of the bottom elements on the supercritical flow energy dissipation
Knoflíček, Jakub ; Haluza,, Miloslav (referee) ; Šulc, Jan (advisor)
The thesis is dealing with comparing dissipation of the kinetic energy water flow using various bottom elements based on model research. There is missing information about efficiency of different kinds of bottom elements. This absence does not allow to compare different modification of the bottom of stilling basins. Within experimental research were measured depths in different variants. Based on the results of model tests are evaluated and tabulated sorted variants of the combat efficiency of the kinetic energy water flow. The results will be used for the efficient and economic design of additional alterations of stilling basins.
Effect of the inlets interoperability to their energy efficiency and the surface vortices formation
Chvátal, Petr ; Sehnal, Jan (referee) ; Šulc, Jan (advisor)
This diploma thesis contains several individual parts. It's especially about summary in the area of one-way inlets: the energy efficiency of the inlets and influence of the neighbouring inlets on them, the phases of creation of surface vortices, the influence on the vortex structures by the mutual operation of the neighbouring inlets and also the methods used to determine the critical and safe depth of dive of inlet against the creation of surface vortices. It also includes the description of process and the evaluation of laboratory tests, which are focused on the assessment of the effect of the mutual operation of inlets on their energy efficiency and the creation of higher intensity surface vortices. Important part of this diploma thesis is also a comparison of the achieved results with the results of the authors who have dealt with this issue.
Wittgenstein on music
Šulc, Jaroslav ; Kolman, Vojtěch (advisor) ; Palkoska, Jan (referee)
Wittgenstein on music Wittgenstein is one of several great philosophers whose interest in music leads them to assign to it an extraordinary philosophical significance. At the same time, for his aphoristic style and also for the theory of the ineffable, he is relatively un-explicit about what this meaning should consist in. Thus, in the Tractatus, music occurs primarily as a case of a perspicuous representation, in the Philosophical Investigations as a case of a language game determined by the very fact that art is something that can be understood, and thus the problem of right and wrong rule-following arises with it. The aim of this paper is to frame Wittgenstein's attitude towards music, especially in relation to his theories of language. It may focus on early or late work as appropriate (including the cultural context of music as found especially in the Culture and Value), or consider what, if any, influence Schopenhauer's philosophy and theory of music may have had on Wittgenstein's views.
Shaft spillway water tunnel capacity increasing
Monsport, Jakub ; Jobánek, Stanislav (referee) ; Šulc, Jan (advisor)
In the first part of this diploma thesis, the problem of supercritical flow is described, as what phenomena occur during it and what dangers it brings. The research part continues with a list of structures in the supercritical regime and their modifications, which should eliminate the danger occurring during supercritical flow. The second part of the diploma thesis is practical and presents the measurement of the course of the water level in the tunnel of the shaft overflow on a physical model with different modifications of the initial section of the tunnel due to the search for the most suitable modification, which would ensure a sufficient reduction of dangerous phenomena occurring during supercritical flow. As part of the practical part, in addition to measurements on the physical model, calculations in numerical modelling were also performed using the Flow-3D program.
Design of a small hydroelectric power plant on the Askistskali River in Georgia
Mitrega, Stanislav ; Jobánek, Stanislav (referee) ; Šulc, Jan (advisor)
The main objective of the thesis is to develop a project for a small hydroelectric power plant on the Askistskali River in Georgia. The thesis includes a geodetic survey using drone photogrammetry and a visit of the site of interest. The thesis presents the documents supplied by Stream Ltd. and describes the procedure of geodetic surveying using a drone. In the next part, the new design of all the structures is described and the results of the economic analysis are presented. It is followed by the calculations part, which describe the design procedure for each structure. At the very end of the thesis, a photographic documentation of the area of interest is attached. Based on the economic analysis, the project was assessed as a profitable investment opportunity.
Charcoal layers in the Main Coal of central part of the Most Basin - a potential indicator of climate changes in early Miocene?
Šulc, Jan ; Opluštil, Stanislav (advisor) ; Pešek, Jiří (referee)
This thesis is summing up the exploration of fusite layers in the middle coal bench of the main coal seam in the Most Basin, studied with support Severočeské doly a. s. in the Bílina opencast mine. These layers are interpreted as a result of wild fires of wetland vegetation and represent charcoal horizons. Several methods have been used for research of these layers. These include four lithological profiles throughout the middle coal bench in different places of Bílina opencast mine, usage of non-core drilling data (speed and force of auger) and comparation of these data with the profiles, and finally, the maceral analysis of the part of the middle bench between two flooding horizons marked by carbonaceous clay partings. Observations indicate that the charcoal layers are hardly recognisable because of their small thickness (few centimetres maximum) and lenticular nature (their lateral continuity usually does not exceed several tens of meters). The coreless drilling according to its sensitivity shows the potential of its usage for identification of fusite layers, although comparison with nearby field section is recommended. Maceral analysis shows that huminite is in favour against liptinite and inertinite. It is clear from the data, that the fusite layers were created as a result of burning...
VD Vlachovice - concrete gravity dam
Juriga, Jan ; Šulc, Jan (referee) ; Zachoval, Zbyněk (advisor)
As a part of this bachelor thesis an alternative design of the concrete gravity dam VD Vlachovice was made, to the already design of the earth-fill dam. The design of the outlet works, intake and spillway were also carried out as a part of the study. The introduction of the thesis includes a description of the site and an evaluation of local conditions. The next part deals with the stability of the dam and the load-bearing capacity of the subsoil. Furthermore, the design of the outlet works, intake and spillway were made. A part of the thesis also deals with the transformation of flood by the water reservoir. Finally, drawings and simplified 3D model of the dam were created. The documents necessary for the creation of the work were provided by company AQUATIS a.s. with the permission of Povodí Morava, s.p.
Thirty Years War and development of the countryside social structure on the manor of Brandýs nad Labem in 16th-18th century
Effect of surgical thoracoplasty on lung function and chest in children and adolescents with chest deformity
Strašíková, Anežka ; Šulc, Jan (advisor) ; Zounková, Irena (referee)
This bachelor thesis, which is called "Vliv chirurgické thorakoplastiky na funkci plic a hrudníku u dětí a dospívajících s deformitou hrudníku", is a research of mainly foreign works about the two most frequent thorax deformities. These are pectus excavatum and pectus carinatum. The first part of this work summarizes general information about structure and function of thorax and about physiology and patophysiology of breathing. It also contains description, etiology, main symptoms and ways of handling with deformities. The deformities can be treated by operation or by conservative means. The first part of the work also includes possibilities of rehabilitation either before or after chirurgical correction of pectoral wall. The second part speaks about functional examination of lungs and about differences, which were measured in patients suffering of PC and PE or in healthy patients. The second part mentions the effect of deformities on the shape of thorax and breathing passages and on the stress tolerance, too. From the results of preoperative examination, the type of ventilation malfunction and the connection between the size of the deformity and the extent of lung function decrease is explored. The study of changes in respiration parameters after operation is described in the last part of this...
