Influence of phenylketonuria on osteopenia
Tůmová, Linda ; Hučko, Boris (advisor) ; Adéla, Adéla (referee)
The Masters thesis deals with The influence of external factors on bone loss in patients with phenylketonuria. The phenylketonuria is relatively rare disease, but it is one of the most common inherited metabolic diseases, with the incidence of 1:10000 newborns in Europe. It is an autosomal recessive disease, caused by the deficiency or low activity of the enzyme phenylalanine hydroxylase in liver. This enzyme catalyzes the hydroxylation of phenylalanine to tyrosine in the presence of cofactor tetrahydrobiopterin. Mutations in the gene for this enzyme (previously described more than 800 mutations) or in the gene for the cofactor (2% of cases) results when received normal diet, a large amount of unprocessed phenylalanine can accumulate in the blood and other bodily fluids while the levels of tyrosine and its metabolites are low. This situation leads to severe mental retardation, eczema, microcephaly, growth retardation, physical disability, psychiatric problems, etc. Due to the fact that mental retardation is usually irreversible, testing and early diagnosis is crucial when it comes to this disease. Because of the severity of the disease, a mandatory screening test for newborns was implemented in the Czech Republic in 1975, followed by a treatment diet, that consists of a strict restriction of protein and supplementation of amino acid preparations without phenylalanin. One of the chronic problems connected to this illness are decreased bone density in children and adults with PKU. Although the underlying cause of osteopenia in phenylketonuria has not yet been elucidated, it is a consequence of several factors. Using the questionnaire, my data was evaluated for the incidence of bone loss in patients with PKU. As my research shows, the incidence of osteoporosis in patients with PKU is higher than the normal population. In 41,3 % of PKU patients were diagnosed osteopenia and osteoporosis in 2,2 %. In the normal population, 99 % of respondents have a normal BMD, while 1 % were diagnosed the osteoporosis. Furthermore, comparing the data with the normal and PKU populations, it has not been confirmed by external influences such as BMI, drinking coffee and cola drinks, and physical activity for example, in regards to bone loss. Conversely showed, that phenylketonuriacs consume cola drinks more than the normal population, most likely due to the factor of gaining quick energy.

Based on the dialaogues were the case reports which later became the basis for category tables. The results show that nurses perceive their work as difficult, mostly from the psychological aspect. The oncology nurses have to face terminally ill people, dying and death on a daily basis. They are exposed to risks of cytostatic agents. They may often suffer from tiredness which can lead to disruption of social, physical and psychical wellfare and even to the burnout. Influenced by these factors the nurses often feel stressed and are not often familiar with how this stress can be prevented or tackled. Internal environment of selected company and its evaluation
TŮMOVÁ, Lenka
In my graduation theses (it is a final project of engineering study at South Bohemia University, in field of commercial business) I focused on internal environment of the company called Centropen a.s. which is situated in Dačice. For evaluation of internal atmosphere I used a few different methods. One of them was the analysis of the results in particular functional fields, I mentioned Bostonian matrix shortly and SWOT analysis. As for an evaluation of functional fields I chose research and development, production, purchase, sale, marketing, human resources and financing. A separate chapter was given to marketing in which was made a questionnaire research, analyzing individual activity, which the company makes for own presentation in public. I focused on a concrete advertising campaign as well {--} The School Campaign. This campaign is every year the most extensive action which the Centropen company prepares together with fullservis advertising agency. Concerning evaluation of functional fields, as the weakest point showed up the field of human resources. The company doesn{\crq}t deal with searching and education new generation in this area at all even further education of current employees, nevertheless the significant part of workers higher and middle management are really close to retiring age. Marketing is able to keep up only thanks to an important help of the agency. Marketing on its own is able to cover just the area of propagation, not complete marketing. As for the SWOT analysis, where are mingled the diagnosis of the internal and external environment, I summarized competitive environment. It is more then clear, that competitive pressures increase and Centropen company, who{\crq}s still using success from previous years, a little bit fell asleep in fight with competition. The significant positive is a strong financial background without credit indebtedness, which helps to support power of the company.

Iranian society, policy and economy in years 1980-1988
Tůmová, Lucie ; Tumis, Stanislav (advisor) ; Soukup, Jaromír (referee)
This work analyses social, political and mainly economic development of Iran in the 1980s. I will primarily focus on the Shi'ite Islam which controlled all the Iranian society at that time, headed by clerical leader ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. However, the most important event was the Iran-Iraq war which ruined the Iranian economy. This war influenced both Islamic Republic of Iran and The Middle East and its relationship with the West, particularly with the United States. So I will analyze the 1980s in Iran also in connection with foreign relations where the oil and the armament industry played an important role.
