Conversation design: principles of voicebot design for natural communication with people
Kološová, Štěpánka ; Šlerka, Josef (advisor) ; Sedláček, Jakub (referee)
The thesis Conversation Design: Principles of Voicebot Design for Natural Communication with People addresses the question of how robots can naturally interact with humans and aims to create a model of conversational design rules. This will be developed based on insights from the literature and will also be supported by data from real conversations between humans and voicebots. The methodology of this thesis is qualitative analysis. In the theoretical part of the thesis I discuss how communication between people works. I describe how conversation can be viewed and how conversation analysis approaches it. In the next part I describe how voice assistants work and focus on how they can talk to people. The second part of the thesis is a literature search. Here I explore the approaches and perspectives of authors who are experts in conversation design, UX design, voice technology, linguistics, sociology, psychology and other fields. I summarize the authors' findings into nine competencies and skills that a virtual assistant should have. In the analytical section, I analyze three virtual assistant scenarios and the calls in which people interacted with them. I look at these scenarios from the perspective of those nine skills and analyze them using a set of questions. In the results of the analysis, I...

Francophone Hip Hop Lyrics from the Perspective of Digital Humanities
Klimentová, Julie ; Šlerka, Josef (advisor) ; Sedláček, Jakub (referee)
This paper contains an explorative analysis of French rap lyrics. The focus of the work is to answer three questions: What is the vocabulary used in the French rap lyrics? What are the topics present in the French rap lyrics? Are media and technology a significant topic in French rap lyrics? The methods used to obtain the answers to the research questions can be listed as follows: literature research, data collection of French rap lyrics, statistical textual analysis, and algorithmic topic modelling. The findings confirm previous research on the subject by supporting claims that the level of non- standard language in French rap lyrics is not as high as myths suggested. In terms of the topics, the topic modelling confirms that there is a variety of themes present in French rap lyrics, including anti- systemic sentiments, struggle, censorship, and false information presented by the authorities.

Title: Filtre bubbles and facebook pages about climate crisis Author: Mgr. Kateřina Janovská Institute: Institute of Information Studies and Librarianship Supervisor: Mgr. Josef Šlerka, Ph.D. Abstract: The climate crisis is one of the biggest challenges society is facing today. And while its existence is subject to scientific consensus, it is a highly polarising issue among the public. The social network Facebook, which has become a platform for spreading misinformation and filter bubbles, has also played its part. This thesis analyses the potential risk of filter bubbles being created on Facebook pages that address the topic of climate change - with a focus on similar pages suggestions. The influence of social media and hyperconnectivity on student academic productivity and performance
Altalová, Kristina ; Šlerka, Josef (advisor) ; Sedláček, Jakub (referee)
(in English): The aim of this thesis is to analyze, how exactly the constant connectivity, social media activity, and online presence influences productivity and performance of university students, presumably also their grades. The data used in the analysis and my practical part were collected from a questionnaire translated by me, the source of which was a study created in 2016 (Lau, 2016). The target group of the research were students at Czech universities, regardless of the type or level of study, who actively use social media, often for communication related to their academic preparations. The subject of the research is to find out how social media influences students in their academic activities, and whether the findings that were presented in the source study can also be applied to the dataset collected for this thesis. The final result of the thesis should be mainly new knowledge from this field within the Czech university environment and possible recommendations.

Studying the distribution of substituents in derivatives based on hyaluronane
Sedláček, Jakub ; Šatínský, Dalibor (advisor) ; Zimčík, Petr (referee) ; Chmelař, Josef (referee)
Charles University, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Analytical Chemistry Candidate Ing. Jakub Sedláček Supervisor doc. RNDr. Dalibor Šatínský, Ph.D. Title of Doctoral Thesis Studying the distribution of substituents in derivatives based on hyaluronan Derivatives based on hyaluronan have found applications in various areas of medicine. Prepared derivatives are commonly characterized by their molar mass and their degree of substitution, however, such parameters are unable to distinguish among derivatives with different distributions of substituents along the chain, which may exhibit different macroscopic properties. For this reason, methods to determine the distribution of substituents along the chain are needed. The presented thesis deals with the determination of distribution of amino groups in deacetylated hyaluronan. The theoretical part starts with a description of hyaluronan structure and of its derivatives. Next, the application, the preparation, and the characterization of deacetylated hyaluronan are discussed, focusing particularly on its depolymerisation into oligosaccharides using deaminative cleavage or enzymes that degrade hyaluronan. Finally, examples of liquid chromatographic methods used to analyse hyaluronan oligosaccharide are presented. The experimental part...
