Letter of Credit in international trade

The thesis describes "Letter of Credit" as one of the oldest and safest instruments used in international trade. Chapter one deals with the basic characteristics of Letter of Credit, the whilst second chapter describes advantages and disadvantages of this financial instrument. The next part is devoted to the course of Letter of Credit, analyzing the process from negotiating the terms of the credit and its opening to its draw down. In chapter four, the current and future development of Letter of Credit is characterized, including the development of its electronic form. The last chapter is a case study, where the main documents related to Letter of Credit are analyzed, including pointing out errors, which are most often made by bank customers and finally the comparison of fees associated with Letter of Credit in selected banks is performed.
Airfreight transport in International Trade

This thesis deals with airfreight issues and its importance in the world international trade. First part of this thesis gives a quick overview of the airfreight history. Second section analyses airfreight in comparison with other mean of freight transport, used in international trade. The latter part of this thesis is devoted to the oldest air company in the Czech Republic - ČSA.
China as a business partner for Czech companies

The thesis is divided into five main parts. In the introduction the author deals with fundamental analysis describing trade with China. The author describes strenghts and weaknesses of trading with China, choosing the right business partner and preparation of contracts. Furthermore, the author focuses on goods, which is on the Chinese market worth trading as well as on main projects, which are between the Czech Republic and China. In the thesis will be presented also important points of trading, such as mean of transport, market entry or basic iformation about chinese etiquette, which plays a major role. At the end of the thesis, there are two case studies that describe a specific example of trading.
Commercial Risks of Companies in International Trade for Commercial Banks

This bachelor thesis discusses possible commercial risks for commercial bank in international trade. First chapter of this thesis is an introduction to an issue of commercial risks and it also describes all subjects that can be affected by them. Second chapter summarises theory of commercial risks and describes possibilities of avoiding them. Third chapter involves case study that describes real business transaction and techniques of commercial bank that deals with commercial risks.
Hedging instruments in international business with the focus on bank guarantees

The thesis offers a detailed view of bank guarantees in comparison to other hedging instruments. The first chapter describes all types of the hedging instruments, highlighting the differences between the instruments and the bank guarantee, especially the differences in the rate of guarantee and price. Second chapter of the thesis focuses on bank guarantees -- describes the process of handling the guarantee in detail and offers a view of this issue from all parties involved, i.e. the bank, supplier and consumer. The last section of the thesis is a case study of a Czech company, which demonstrates the entire company strategy in the area of bank guarantees.
The role of maritime transport in international trade focusing on trade between Europe and Asia

The thesis characterizes maritime transport as another part of transport chain and deals with its role in international trade as well as between Asia and Europe. The first chapter deals with basic terms and characteristic of maritime transport, sea vessels and there are also mentioned subjects, who are active in maritime transport. The second chapter devotes to development of seaborne trade and analyses impacts of the global economic crisis on maritime transport and on seaborne trade. The last, third chapter, focuses on seaborne trade between Asia and Europe, mentions important historic landmarks which affected seaborne trade on this route. There are also characterized European and Asian ports and last but not least this chapter focuses on impacts of the economic crisis on Eurasian seaborne trade.
Is it worth to have siblings? The influence of number of siblings and their birth order on educational attainment in Czech Republic

This work analysis the influence of a number of siblings and their birth order on educational attainment in Czech Republic expressed by reading literacy and average grade. Using the weighted least squares method and data-set based on survey PISA 2009, was found a negative sibling size effect. Nevertheless this effect became significant in families with four or more children. Furthermore, it seems to be better a relatively older, but this effect was significant only in the case of reading literacy. Other variables concerning socio-economic status were found significant too.
Motivation of employees as a factor of competitiveness of the company in the international business

There exists a never-ending struggle to gain a dominant market position at the national and international markets. The globalization and processes of integration have made this struggle more intense. It is more and more difficult to find new means to achieve desired goals. The best means of companies are represented by their competitive advantages and it does not matter if they focused on the price, product's attributes or on the quality of the delivery. However, we can consider as the most successful companies those that will be able to use their competitive advantages synergistically and those that will be able to create more inimitable sources of the competitive advantages. Motivation of employees is one of these sources. People are endowed with knowledge and skills. People represent the driving force of today's economic potential. Let's satisfy their needs and observe the growth of their own initiative and productivity.
The position of inland water transportation in the international trade

The inland water navigation plays an important role in terms of transportation, although through time it was outperformed by the means of transport associated rather with roads or railways. This paper analyses the position of inland water transportation in the international trade, focused mainly on the European Union. The paper itself is divided into six parts. First three chapters follow the river navigation through the history and the changes in its position in the international trade, the types of classification of goods and also the vision of the European Union about the way the inland water transportation may develop in the future. The aim of chapter four is to focus on volumes and types of goods transported internationally within the European Union. The way the Czech Republic takes part in this transportation is also characterized there. The fifth chapter describes the benefits and drawbacks this particular means of transport brings. The last, sixth chapter aims at the subjects active in the field of inland water navigation in the Czech Republic and the problems they are to overcome.
Franchise networks operating in the Czech market in business services

This bachelor's thesis introduces a franchising as a modern and promising form of business that in the context of globalization of the world economy has a great future. There are explained the principles on which the franchising is based and all the advantages and disadvantages for both contractual partners. It provides some pieces of information about different forms of franchise cooperation, legal and other requisites in the creation of a franchise system and the world development of franchising focusing on the current situation in the Czech Republic and its use in coming years. The second part presents the franchising in practice. It's based on personal interviews with leading representatives of the two franchise companies providing business services. The goal of this part is to acquaint with the principles of running these organizations and to analyze their beginnings and the subsequent implementation in the Czech market. The final section summarizes the author's survey which was supposed to find out the awareness and knowledge of the franchising among young people.
