Importance of contact tests of ecotoxicity
Modlitbová, Pavlína ; Doležalová Weissmannová, Helena (referee) ; Zlámalová Gargošová, Helena (advisor)
This bachelor thesis is dealing with an issue of contact tests of ecotoxicity and their importance for solid matrices testing as wastes, contaminated soil etc. According to the requierements of current legislative, ecotoxicity of these materials is evaluated only for results obtained with testing their water leach. Need of insertion ecotoxicity contact tests into mandatory set of tests is discussed in thesis, because current set of tests is relevant only for water ecosystem and does not support sufficient prediction for eventual ecotoxicologic impacts for terrestrial ecosystem.
The problems of fenol sorption from waste water
Židek, Michal ; Pavlovský,, Jiří (referee) ; Doležalová Weissmannová, Helena (advisor)
The bachelor work deals of sorption of phenol from waste water. In theoretical part the basic characteristic of phenol, their effects and presence in environmental compounds are described. The possibility of removal phenol from waste water in waste water treatment is also described. The adsorption process of removal phenol introduced too. The analysis current adsorbents using in removal phenol from aqueous solutions and characteristic properties are also presented in relation to materials on the base of clay minerals. The experimental part is focused on the possibility of removal phenol from aqueous solution via adsorption mechanism under various pH conditions.
Tin and his species in the environment
Bušinová, Markéta ; Moos, Martin (referee) ; Doležalová Weissmannová, Helena (advisor)
Presented bachelor thesis is background research on tin and his species in the environment. Mainly deals with the effects of inorganic and organic compounds of tin on elements of environment. The work resumes accessible information about properties of tin and his compounds, entry of tin and his compounds into the elements of environment, cycle and occurrence of tin speciation in water, soils, sediments and biological materials.
The environmnetal impact of burning products
Ročňáková, Ivana ; Vávrová, Milada (referee) ; Doležalová Weissmannová, Helena (advisor)
The submitted thesis deals with the study of combustion products and their impact on the environment and human organism. It explains the nature of combustion and conditions under which the fire originates. In this action is developed a large number of different substances. As concrete examples of inorganic substances were selected following compounds: carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, sulphates, hydrogen chloride, hydrogen cyanide, nitrous gases and ammonia. From the organic compounds were selected only a few examples, such as the burning of plastics or the subsequent fire extinguishing device is developed by a diverse range of organic compounds. The wide range of compounds was chosen phosgene, formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, PAHs and extremely toxic. When burning the noxious substances into the air first and then wet or dry slope to reach the other components of the environment. These combustion products have diverse adverse effects on both humans and the environment. In some cases, these substances have fatal consequences for all components of the environment.
Toxic oxoanions in water
Kováč, Lukáš ; Vávrová, Milada (referee) ; Doležalová Weissmannová, Helena (advisor)
This work includes knowledge of the issue of toxic oxoanions in the water. Based on the available resources to assess the prevalence of risk oxoanions in the waters, analyze their environmental hazard in the water and deal with the issue of their removal from the water. The work is a short overview of several oxoanions, but closer attention was dedicated only to oxoanions arsenic and chromium and their impact on the aquatic environment.
The importance of algal tests for ecotoxicological evaluation
Chovanec, Petr ; Zlámalová Gargošová, Helena (referee) ; Doležalová Weissmannová, Helena (advisor)
This bachelor thesis is aimed at the study of algal tests. Within the frame of this thesis I have performed a literature research into findings about all possibilities algal tests in ecotoxicity. This work is engaged in short description green algae, as a testing organisms and their usage for ecotoxicological evaluation.
Problems of humic matters as precursor of trihalomethanes (THMs) in water
Jelínková, Zuzana ; Dolejš, Petr (referee) ; Doležalová Weissmannová, Helena (advisor)
The bachelor’s thesis deals with qualities of humic matters, their origins, structures and occurrence in aquatic environment. There are suitable methods for determination of humic substances and processes used for their removing from water. The thesis describes disinfection of water and related origin of trihalomethanes. The aim of the experimental part of the thesis is to coagulate model humic water on the laboratory mixing column including suggestion of optimal dose of selected coagulation agent and comparison of effectivity of floccules separation by membrane filtration and centrifugation. Effectivity of the removal of humic matters was determined by measuring water absorbance at wavelengths 245 nm in a silica cuvette with optical 1 cm trajectory and at 387 nm in a glass cuvette with optical 5 cm trajectory. For evaluation of quality suspension concentration of residual iron of coagulation agent in water was determined.
Assessmant of surfactants levels in waters
Zajícová, Markéta ; Doležalová Weissmannová, Helena (referee) ; Vávrová, Milada (advisor)
The present Bachelor Thesis deals with problem of water contamination by synthetic surfactants. Surfactants represent the main component of washing and cleaning agents, from which they enter waste waters. The goal of Thesis was to monitor and evaluate volume of surfactants in waste waters from waste water treatment plant VFU Brno. Samples were being taken in the course of 7 days and we have monitored volume of anionic and cationic tensides in samples from influent and effluent stream of waste water treatment plant. For qualitative and quantitative determination were used mobile analytic measurement devices with photometric detection by company Merck. Results were processed and interpreted in data evaluation section in the end of this Bachelor Thesis.
