Reading Literacy Development at Secondary Education Students

The thesis concerns the topic of reading literacy at secondary education students with regard to adolescents' own attitudes and value orientations. The thesis describes, in the theoretical part, the origins of speech as the main means of interpersonal communication and presents development of reading literacy in students' ontogenesis with the emphasis on pubescent students. The thesis defines the phenomenon of reader socialisation and its development in time. The work addresses reader competence, its relation to contemporary education system and its significance in the present-day reality and the media society. In the end of the theoretical part, a contemporary level of reading literacy at secondary school students in the Czech Republic is presented. The practical part explores the development of reading literacy at secondary education students during their life with accent on the change in approach to reading when moving to a higher level of the education system and how the students themselves percieve these changes. Factors influencing the development of the participants' relationship to literature and motivation towards reading are also the subject of the research. Interaction style of novice teachers in the process of establishing their authority

This diploma thesis is concerned with authority of a novice teacher based on their usage of his or her interaction style in a classroom. The aim of this thesis is to find out how teachers and their pupils perceive particular interaction styles of a teacher with regard to establishing and using their authority. The theoretical part of this thesis consists of three chapters. The first chapter deals with the terms authority and teacher's authority, emphasizing pupils' point of view and in connection with this introduces its classification of authority types. The next chapter inquires into interpersonal behaviour of a teacher, definition of their interaction style and ways of its detection in practise. The third chapter is concerned with the issues of novice teacher emphasizing their problems in interaction with their pupils which can appear at the beginning of their professional career. Practical part is primarily based on a quantitative inquiry implemented with the help of modified standardized questionnaires QTI investigating the interaction style of a teacher. Worldschooling as an alternative model of education

This thesis's aim is to unite the worldschooling information available, show different educational models in various countries where it would be the easiest to execute for Czech families, suggest an advancement and an example of such education. Further on detect its benefits and weaknesses. The main contribution of the thesis lays in the comparison of the obvious benefits such as unworldliness, overview, or extensive progression in the field of language or geography as well as the negatives of such upbringing such as uprooting, instability or social isolation. Later on the latent advantages and disadvantages shall arise from the research part which will be focused on interviews with families already practising worldschooling. To meet the goals, specialized literature will be used, prevailingly a foreign one, most of all however using naratives.
