Application of Rapid prototyping methods for development of new product

Target of this bachelor’s thesis is to describe application of Rapid Prototyping methods for development of a new product. First it describes principles used by machines for Rapid Prototyping with the overview of selected manufacturers of specific devices. Further it contains certain examples of industrial application. Thesis is concerned about development of a new product using conventional methods and Rapid Prototyping methods with the analysis of the differences and advantages of each method. It describes an issue of design of a new product from the sketch phase to the prototype production phase. As an example of industrial application there is described a Narex angle grinder inovation process.

The basic characteristics of milling are described in the first part, where emphasis is put on the characteristic of machine tool operations, on description of the basic milling ways and cutting conditions. Next part makes the characteristic of milling tools from the viewpoint of construction, tool material, the way of labeling and using. Last part of this work is concentrated on summary and reciprocal comparing of chosen tools in production assortment of three significant home and world producers. The comparing is made for face milling cutters produced by Pramet Tools Ltd., Sandvik Coromant and Ceratizit S.A.

Application of genetic algorithm for production scheduling of engineering company

This thesis is engaged in scheduling problem, his special types and methods of solving. Scheduling problem is a common operations research problem, which ranks among combinatorial problems. The aim of the scheduling problem is to assign certain activities and resources to individual time moments. Scheduling problem is NP-complete problem. Its computational complexity is thus so high, that there is currently no known algorithm that precisely solve its any instance in polynomial time. Is therefore used for its solution heuristics and metaheuristcs. In this thesis is described in detail metaheuristics of genetic algorithm. Application of genetic algorithm for production scheduling of specific engineering company is the main objective of this thesis.
