Kolářová, Kateřina ; Hupková, Martina (referee) ; Perlín, Radim (advisor)
Ability to obtain grant titles in selected rural municipalities Abstract An important theme of the Member States of the European Union is rural development. For the Czech Republic, this topic became current after accession to the EU in 2004. In previous years, the Czech Republic had the opportunity to benefit from pre-accession programs (e.g. PHARE, SAPARD) in the period 2004-2006 to use all the tools for the development of European countryside. The uniqueness of the programming period 2007-2013 is the ability to draw funds in the entire length of the programming period, and a wide range of support. The bachelor thesis deals with the cause of the success of profit grant titles of the Rural Development Programme, Operational Programme for Environment and Regional Operation Programme NUTS II Southwest. Its aim is to analyze the influence of the causes for profit grant titles of selected programs and determine whether appearance, geographic location, and civic and technical facilities of the municipalities affects the volume of money obtained from grant titles. Attention is focused on the municipalities district Klatovy in size of 500-999 people. Keywords: rural development, rural municipalities, grant titles, appearance, civic and technical facilities, geographic location
Use of Make-up and Gender Subjectivity
Mrňousová, Michaela ; Kolářová, Kateřina (advisor) ; Kiczková, Zuzana (referee)
This work focuses on women's use of make-up from gender and sociological point of view. Theoretical background of the thesis is made by the post-structuralist theories, which regard make-up as one of the disciplinary practices by which the gender subject is shaped. Another important part of the thesis is the presentation of the key theories related to the norms for appearance and the functioning of the gender system. The aim of this work is neither to critique nor to defend women's use of make-up, but to explore this phenomenon from various perspectives. It seems that academic literature as well as mainstream discussions consider the use of make-up as a marginalized activity. This activity requires explanations from the perspective of every day life and women's experience. What norms shape the women use of make-up? What strategies in relation to wearing make-up do women create? With use of post-structural discursive analysis of semi-structured interviews the objective of the research part was to define the discourses, themes and meanings that interviewed women expressed in relation to their use of make-up. Even in the context of very typical femininity the discursive positions and constructions that have the women articulated show the variety and dynamics of women's experience. Key words: The use of...
A Woman's Last Name at Marriage: a Study of the Mechanisms of maintaining Patronymy and Patrilineality
Komanická, Daniela ; Kolářová, Kateřina (advisor) ; Valdrová, Jana (referee)
A woman's last name at marriage is a study of the mechanisms of maintaining patronymy and patrilinearity in Czech and Slovak society through the practice of changing a woman's name at marriage. By analyzing a sample of internet discussions in wedding websites (i.e. internet sites that focus on the issue of woman's family name at marriage) I am challenging this gender structured practice, which I feel disadvantages women and privileges men. The research starts from theoretical concepts of gender studies and uses discursive analysis as a method to help reveal the mechanisms of function and maintenance of a woman's last name change at marriage. Analyzing the comments in these discussions, I was primarily interested in the attitude of the website participants towards the last name as symbolic source of one aspect of identity. In the second part of my analysis, I follow up with the dynamics stemming from the direct exchange of website discussion participants with the issue of woman's last name. My research is concerned with the historic emergence of the issue of woman's last name at marriage, the gender view of Slovak and Czech legislation dealing with the woman's last name at marriage, and my own location - all of which I see as an important part of feminist research. Key words: birth name, change of (woman's)...

Oravcová, Anna ; Kolářová, Kateřina (advisor) ; Jonssonová, Pavla (referee)
Female rappers and their position within the Czech hip hop subculture This study focuses on the position of female rappers within the Czech hip hop subculture. The theoretical part contains the development of the term "subculture" in regard to gender, and the role of women within music subcultures. The second part of the theory deals with the birth and development of hip hop as an artistic and cultural movement. In relation to hip hop, this study is inspired by American literature that focuses on female rappers and their roles within hip hop subculture. The research work has two parts. First part of the research is based on the qualitative analysis of interviews with Czech female rappers. These female rappers were asked about their motivation to become rappers, in their opinion what it takes for women to be successful in rap, how they see their position as female rappers, and how they feel about the label "female" rap. The second part of the research is based on textual analysis of selected rap songs by these artists. The main focus of this analysis is on the construction of authenticity and their gender identity as female rappers. Keywords: subculture, gender, feminism, rap, hip hop, authenticity, subcultural capital, mainstream, underground
