The diploma thesis deals with psychological aspects of bariatric surgery. In the theoretical part are introduced current possibilities in diagnostics and therapy of obesity. This thesis is further about quality of life and its possible change after bariatric surgery. In the experimental part of the thesis is explored, if the quality of life has changed in 8 weeks after laparoscopic adjustable gastric band.
Eating disorder in a relationship from a point of view of woman's partner

The aim of the thesis is to theoretically describe and empirically verify "typical moments", that partner of eating disorder ill women has to undergo from the beginning through progress and treatment of the illness in respect of the relationship. Both theoretical and qualitative practical part map the situations faced by partner during his female-partner's illness, how he figures in the illness system, how he influences his partner's illness, which mechanisms he uses to cope with the illness, how the relationship influences the progress of the illness, which needs and feelings are emphasized at the partner. Theoretical part of the thesis is based on world literature and the experience of coordinator of self-help group for eating disorder ill person's relatives and carers. It is also based on analysis of qualitative data acquired from questionnaires with open type of questions. Sexual life of people with Parkinson's disease and their partners

The rigorous thesis deal with the topic of sexual life of people suffering from the Parkinson's disease (PD) and their partners. The theoretical part contains basic information about PD and the results of researches on sexuality of people with this illness and their partners, focusing on the agents that influence PD. The empirical part comprises of a research project implemented on a set of 103 people with PD and 84 partners of the people with PD. In order to describe the specifics of the patients' and partners sexual lives, four sets of questions were designed (separate for men and women), containing a questionnaire on sociodemographic features, psychological (BDI-II, STAI) and sexuological questionnaires.The acquired data was statistically elaborated by means of the programme SPSS. Results of the sexuological questionnaires (GRISS, FSFI, SFŽ3, SFM, IIEF) show a decrease in sexual functions and a presence of sexual dysfunctions connected with PD. With the help of regressive models, it was elicited that in case of men with this illness, the most influential agent on their sexual life is depression and subjectively scoring the illness, in case of women the agent of depression and anxiety. Quality of life of dialysis and transplant patients

End-stage renal disease (ESRD) is a chronic illness, which significantly influences patient's life. Two widespread possibilities of renal replacement therapy are dialysis and kidney transplantation. The first section of the theoretical part summarizes medical aspects of ESRD. The second section deals with psychosocial aspects of chronic illness generally, which are replenished with a particularity of dialysis and transplantation therapy. The last section hands in theoretical constructs of quality of life and sumarizes results of foreign studies, which have dealt with Health Related Quality of Life (HRQoL) of dialysis and transplant patients. Empirical part of the thesis maps HRQoL in relation to some selected factors (gender, marital status, age, level of education and period of treatment) in group of dialysis and transplant patients. The main goal of the whole thesis is comparing HRQoL among dialysis and transplant patients through questionnaires SF-36 and WHOQoL-BREF.
Food choise and food preferences at patients with type two diabetes who are not treated by insulin therapy

Diabetes type two is a chronic progressive disease often associated with obesity and hypertension. Experts predict that diabetes type two cases will increase in the future. Having type two diabetes increases the risk of many serious complications. The diploma work is dedicated to patients with type two diabetes treated either by meal planning, weight loss and exercising or by meal planning, weight loss, exercising and antidiabetic oral agents. The theoretical part of diploma work brings information about diabetes type two and obesity. It concerns information about treatment of diabetes and obesity and psychical problems of patients with the need to adopt healthy habits, balanced diet and drug therapy. The theoretical part is also about food behavior and food preferences. Theoretical portions also deal with the importance of dietary patterns in control of body weight and management of diabetes. Quality of life and social support in patients with diabetic foot disease

Summary:Diabetic foot disease is a serious complication of diabetes mellitus that is associated with averse sequelae and high costs. The study was focused on psychic and social aspects of quality of life. The aims of this study were following: (i) the description of the quality of life in patients with diabetic foot disease by comparing their quality of life with that of a sample from the healthy population; (ii) characterization of social support in patients with diabetic foot disease by comparing subgroup living with partner and a subgroup living without partner; (iii) the examination of depressive symptoms in patients with diabetic foot disease by comparing severity of depressive symptoms with that of a sample from the healthy population; (iv) the description of psychosocial aspects of diabetic foot disease - limitation of daily activities, interpersonal problems and emotional burden due to problems with foot (v) to examine association between some psychosocial aspects (i.e. social support, limitation of daily activities, interpersonal problems and emotional burden), and severity of depressive symptoms. Cognitive deficiency of depressive patients in remission

The aim of this study is deeper understanding of cognition in people with unipolar depressive disorder in remission. First, we introduce relevant research on the cognitive functions of depressive patients in various periods of their illness and we employ this part as a theoretic background of our study. Using qualitative methodology we try to map the cognition in several patients su ering from the unipolar depressive disorder. Our research consist of in depth semi structured interview from six informants, from which ve had passed the criteria for enlistment in the sample informants are patients of Psychiatrické centrum Praha (PCP), su ering from the unipolar depressive disorder according to MKN 10, which in the time of the interviews were not hospitalized and were in remission (scored less then 12 on the MADRS scale). We created an outline of an interview consisting of 9 key areas concerning the main cognitive functions. We were interested in the self-perception of the level of the cognitive functions in comparison with the period before the onset of the depression. Futher, subjects were administered the MADRS scale. Závislost na návykových látkách je problémem celospolečenským, který se dotýká zdravotní i společenské oblasti lidského života. Nealkoholová toxikománie poškozuje lidský organismus jako celek, tj. jak jeho stránku somatickou, tak zvláště psychickou. Mnohdy ústí nejen v sebevražedné pokusy, ale i v dokonaná suicidia. Závislý na nealkoholových drogách často negativně ovlivňuje svou rodinu orientační, ale také, pokud nějakou má, rodinu prokreační. K selhání dochází také v profesionální oblasti života. Léčba závislých na nealkoholových drogách je dlouhá a náročná. V souvislosti s léčbou se nehovoří o úplném vyléčení, spíše o léčbě na celý život. Příčin vzniku závislosti je mnoho. V této práci jsme se soustředili na osobnostní vlastnosti, které mohou působit jako jeden z rizikových faktorů vzniku a rozvoje závislosti. Odhalení osobnostní struktury je důležité nejen pro včasnou prevenci, ale také v době léčby, kdy odhalení osobnostních vlastností může přispět ke zvolení vhodného způsobu terapie, či k odhalování situací, které mohou být klíčové pro vznik relapsu. The evaluation of psychological changes in intensive weight reducing program

Diplomová práce se zaměří na sledování psychologických změn u pacientů hospitalizovaných na intenzivním redukčním pobytu na interním oddělení. Na základě prostudování odborné literatury se pokusíme popsat možné psychologické změny způsobené redukcí hmotnosti a redukčním pobytem samotným, zejména v oblasti vnímání vlastního těla a změn nálady. Ve výzkumné části se budeme snažit ověřit, zda k námi předpokládaným změnám během intenzivního redukčního pobytu dochází. Naše závěry budou porovnány se zjištěními uvedenými v odborné literatuře.
