Sitta, Jan ; Bobková, Lenka (advisor) ; Zilynská, Blanka (referee)
(in English): Feudal lords Zvolští of Zvole, which were fundamentally bound by vassal bonds to the diocese of Olomouc, are worthy of our attention because of the way, in which they intervened into czech internal struggles and european problems of the turbulent hussite war's and unstable post-hussite war's era. The credit for that belongs to their two members, who reached the episcopal throne of Olomouc - Kuneš between years 1430-1434 and Bohuš between years 1454-1457. The aim of this diploma thesis is to comprehensivly describe life stories of these two remarkable men and their careers from their study years up to their early deaths, which were the cause of overlooking of these individuals by modern historiography so far. Making use of biographical methods, we described there Kuneš and Bohuš as hardworking and purposeful students of the canon law, zealous defenders of catholic church and proponents of strict actions against utraquism and influential and loyal servants of king and Holy Roman Emperor Sigismund of Luxembourg, respectively king Ladislaus the Posthumous. Moreover, this thesis adresses equally interesting topic, which is the struggle between conciliarism and papacy and the role, that Kuneš and Bohuš played in tih struggle. Last but not least is this thesis essential for better...

Lord Menhart of Hradec in the Swirl of Events of the First Half of the 15th Century
Miczanová, Veronika ; Bobková, Lenka (advisor) ; Zilynská, Blanka (referee)
This Bachelor thesis is dedicated to one representative of a significant Southern Czech noble family of Lords of Neuhaus, Meinhard (1398 - 1449). Meinhard belonged to moderate Utraquists, became an ally of the Taborites and later an important person in the negotiations with Sigismund of Luxemburg. He also played a major role in the period of interregnum after the death of Albert, Archduke of Austria and in the period of the reign of George of Poděbrady which he opposed later in his life. His sudden death was uncertain. So far, no extensive individual study about Meinhard of Neuhaus has been published. The thesis uses materials from contemporary literature and edited sources, or, as circumstances allow, takes account of non-printed sources stored in National Archive in Prague and the documents from the Lords of Neuhaus stored in State Regional Archive in Třeboň in the section Jindřichův Hradec.
The parish accounts of Tábor from 1509 to 1510
Vandrovcová, Jitka ; Zilynská, Blanka (advisor) ; Kůrka, Pavel (referee)
Tábor was a rich and prospering town with a large property base and flourishing crafts production, especially drapery. Since 1452, when it surrendered to bailiff Jiří of Poděbrady, it was a loyal servant of Czech kings until 1547, when it joined revolt of the estates against Ferdinand I. After suppression of the revolt, Tábor was punished by taking away a major part of its property and by the installation of the royal reeve. Since the Hussite revolution, influence of laymen on administration of fabrica ecclesiae (funds necessary for church construction, maintainance and functioning) started to rise, as the church was taken away its property. It was sacristans who looked after administration of fabrica ecclesiae. In the first half of the 16th century, officers took over that duty and sacristans were left just the duties at church. Reports on fabrica ecclesiae should have been recorded in a fabrica ecclesiae book, including incomes and expenditures, a list of instruments for worship service, and records of memorial and administrative character. The incomes to fabrica ecclesiae were from collections, from funerals at church as well as in the cemetary, from chiming, from interest payments on houses, woods, gardens, fields, vineyards, villages etc. The most frequent expenditures were wages for a vicar, organist,...
Aleš and Petr Holicky, Two Generations of Sternberks and Their Impact on Czech Political Scene in the First Half of the 15th Century
Koula, Vít ; Zilynská, Blanka (referee)
The exam for the doctorate thesis deals with two representatives of the Sternberk dynasty: Ales Holicky and his son Petr. Firstly, it focuses on Ales and his activities in Zikmund's camp. It surveys Sternberk's political programme, its fulfilment and goals. Further, it follows Ales's political orientation after the conversion to chalice in the beginning of the 30s of the 15th century and tries to cover the grounds for Ales's rise including the influence of the political coalitions of which he was a member. In that context, Ales's role in Ptacek's and Podebrad's party is explained as well as his part in formulating and promoting their demands. On the basis of the required findings, the thesis attempts to show who in fact profited from Ales's policy. Was it only Ales, respectively his dynasty, the utraquist coalitions of which he was a member, or the country as well? The thesis also tries to revise some conclusions of previous historiography, in which Ales's influence in the parties he was a member of as well as his ability of an independent conduct have been under evaluated. Having made a successful career in the revolutionary and difficult period of the first half of the 15th century, Ales should rightly rank among the significant, although not cardinal personalities of the period who deserve our attention....

Hrachovec, Petr ; Bobková, Lenka (advisor) ; Zilynská, Blanka (referee)
This diploma work deals with two commanderies of the knights of Saint John in the Zittau region located in the Upper Lusatia i.e. in the present Saxony in Zittau itself and in the township of Hirschfelde northeast of Zittau. I have focused on primarily on the 16th century that has not been treated adequately in the professionalliterature. In the first part of this diploma work, which is the shortest one, I have assessed the present historiography and both published and unpublished sources and manuscripts dealing with the aforementioned topic i.e. dealing with the two commanderies in question in the Middle Ages that have survived in good condition and I have delineated their (i.e. the commanderies) development in the 13th through 15th centuries including the procedures intended for the application in dealing with the subject ofthe two commanderies in 16th century. ln the second part of this diploma work I have described the manifestations of devoutness and religiosity in the town of Zittau at the beginning of the 16th century, i.e. in the era prior to the reformation. I have made my best to document whether the town of Zittau where the knights of Saint John possessed the patronage right to the parish church was also struck by the phenomena typical of religious life in the Central Europe at the threshold of...

Chronicle of the monastery of Cross-bearers with the red star in Cheb in 1829-1936 and its relevance for the monastery's history from the 1550s to 1631

Nourishment of the czech aristocracy in period before Bílá hora and contemporary medical literature
Měrková, Jana ; Šedivá Koldinská, Marie (advisor) ; Zilynská, Blanka (referee)
(in English) The current thesis on Nourishment of the czech aristocracy in period before Bílá Hora and contemporary medical literature focuses on two main topics: dining and medicine. Today, both could be included under one label, which is nutrition. The thesis can be divided into two parts. The first one, on the topic of cuisine/dining of noblemen, introduces their diet, habits and provides a few examples of period recipes. The second one presents overview of books that addressed the issue of dining and cuisine at that time. This part also includes personal and literary profiles of several personalities whose writings contributed to this area. A link between these two parts is a chapter on cuisine from the perspective of physicians. In writing the thesis I relied mostly on two sources: literature on lifestyle and historiographic literature. The latter focuses on cuisine from an everyday life perspective without the medical point of view. The objective of the thesis is to show that cuisine, or nutrition is not only a matter of modern age, but it had its place in the examined period as well.
