Strategic Urban Development Plan of Otrokovice

Strategic Development Plan is the basic document of administrative unit which expresses the expected development in the medium or long term. The aim of my work is to prepare strategic development document, which would contribute to development of the town or microregion Otrokovice in the future. The introductory part is focused on strategic planning from a theoretical perspective. The practical part contains a concept of strategic development document of Otrokovice, which is consisted of socio-economic analysis, SWOT analysis and concept of strategic objectives, priority axes and priorities. Because of the required scope of the thesis, there is not included financial and monitoring part of strategic plan, which normally forms an integral part of the programming document.
The analysis of location factors for medium and large companies in the Vysocina Region

The work deals with the analysis of location factors for medium and large companies in the Vysocina Region. The main objective is to identify and categorize the location factors of medium and large companies in the Vysocina Region. A sub-goal is to identify and categorize the factors, which from the standpoint of the companies examined are missing in the region. In the theoretical part of the development of localization theory and location factors are defined and classified. Also includes a brief socio-economic characteristics of the Vysocina Region. The practical part is focused especially on the analysis of survey results. The data source was a survey conducted among companies which are based in the Vysocina Region, according to their total number of employees (50 and over). At the coclusion of the work are identified and tested new-found (tradition of manufacturing) location factors, which are then categorized into three groups. 1) Generally significant factors. 2) Factors relevant only for certain size categories or sector companies. 3) Minor factors. Factors, which from the standpoint of the companies examined are missing in the Vysocina Region, are also similarly categorized into three groups.
Socio-economic analysis of the Central Bohemian Region

This thesis "Socio-economic analysis of the Central Bohemian Region" is divided into two parts. First part outlines a theoretical approach to the formulation of regional development and the theories dealing with this issue. The second part describes and evaluates the status and development in economic and social aspects of the Central Bohemian Region. Each chapter is devoted to one of these areas. Practical part is divided into basic characteristics of the region, the social analysis of the region with emphasis on demographic data, education, health and social services, and regional economic analysis, which focuses on labour market, infrastructure and macroeconomic indicators. The work includes environmental analysis and a SWOT analysis of the region, where there is an evaluation of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. The aim of this thesis is to provide a comprehensive view of the Central Bohemian region with a socio-economic analysis of individual areas.
Regional policy instruments in Hradec Králové region

This thesis is written about the regional policy instruments, specifically in Hradec Králové Region. The goal of this study is to evaluate the regional policy instruments in Hradec Králové Region, research the strengths and weaknesses of these instruments and suggest possible improvements in their application. The methods of synthesis and analysis are used in this thesis. The theoretical part of this research deals with the most commonly used system of classification by different authors; furthermore, describes their development and demonstrates their situation in the Czech Republic. In the practical part, socioeconomic profile of Hradec Králové Region is briefly presented; moreover, the instruments applied in the studied region are specified and evaluated, strengths and weaknesses are demonstrated; and lastly, recommendations for future development are presented. The conclusions are summarised in a table for clarity, where strengths and weaknesses and recommendations for each instrument can be found.
Chemical Industry in the Czech Republic

The thesis deals with the analysis of spatial distinction of the chemical industry in the Czech Republic. The main aim of the thesis is to evaluate the disposition of chemical production in the Czech Republic and using the tools of spatial analysis, mainly location quotients and the Lorenz curve, to identify areas with the highest concentration of the chemical production. Further to identify areas with the greatest potential for the localization and development of the chemical production. The theoretical part of the thesis describes the economic aspects of the localization of the industry and defines the chemical industry itself in a broader context. The practical part deals with the position of the chemical industry in the Czech Republic and focuses on the territory analysis which identifies the regions with the highest concentration of the chemical industry in the Czech Republic
The clusters, their value for companies and their influence on regional development on the example of The Plastics Cluster in Zlín region

The thesis deals with a meaning of clusters for their member companies and on the example of The Plastics Cluster in Zlín region shows how the clusters influence regional development. This document works with a definition of clusters by European Union. First part of the thesis provides the definition of the term "cluster", description of the main features, the characteristics and types of clusters and it also identifies the benefits of clusters for companies and for regions. Second part of the document is focused on the possibilities of financing clusters from the EU structural funds in the period 2004-2006 and 2007-2013. Consequently the evolution of the clusters that received grants from the EU structural funds in the period 2004-2006 is evaluated. The applied part of the thesis addresses to the example of The Plastics Cluster and its analysis, it also deals with the economic situation of Zlín region and based on the gained information draws the conclusions.
Socio-economic analysis of the Pardubice Region

Thesis "Socio-economic analysis of the Pardubice Region" describes the condition assessment and development of socio-economic areas in the region, each chapter is devoted to just one area. The first part focuses on the general description of the region, natural conditions, population, economic base, labor market and infrastructure, environment, tourism, education and health also. In the next section using SWOT analysis assessed the strengths and weaknesses of the region, as well as opportunities and threats. The last chapter is focused on the proposed strategy of transport, environment and tourism because there are many shortcomings in these area sof the region. The aim of this work is to provide a comprehensive view of the Pardubice region, and using information gathered from various socio-economic fields to derive the expected future development of the region.
Strategic Development Plan of Prachatice

This bachelor thesis deals with strategic planning for the town of Prachatice. The goal is to verify that the current plan meets the strategic socio-economic and environmental situation. In the theoretical part of the basic concepts of regional policy and strategic planning, is also briefly described the legislation relating to the topic, focusing mainly on the Act No. 248/2000 Coll., on regional development. The following section deals with the structure of the strategic plan. The practical part is focused on socio-economic and environmental analysis, from which then follows a SWOT analysis.
The estimation of cross-border activities euroregion Pomoraví in South Moravian region

This bachelor thesis is focused on cross-border activities of the Euroregion Pomoraví that was established in 1999 based on trilateral agreenment between the Czech Repubic, Slovakia and Austria. Main goal of the thesis is to analyze the operations of the Euroregion and to examine the meaning of activities for its development based on the analysis of success of submitted projects and their impacts. The bachelor thesis is devided into three parts. The first part of the thesis brings basic facts about the establishment and development of the cross-border cooperation. On later stage it defines the fundamental terms, legal framework and the way of financing. The second part specifies the area of the Euroregion Pomoraví and presents a socioe-conomical characteristics of the Czech part. The third part is focused on functioning of the Euroregion Pomoraví in the program period 2004--2006 as well as in the ongoing period 2007--2013.
Use of Structural Funds in municipalities with authorized municipal office focused on the South Bohemian Region

The aim of this thesis is to determine how successful the municipalities with authorized municipal office in South Bohemia region are in drawing financial resources from the EU structural funds. The first part is a theoretical insight into regional policy and a description of the structural funds. it introduces the goals of regional policy and outlines an overview of funds that may be used in the czech republic during the current programming period 2007-2013. The South bohemia region and its strategy for regional development introduction follows. The practical part of the thesis is an analysis of publicly available data, which is supplemented by an analysis of data collected by survey of municipalities with authorized municipal office and the comparison of the three selected communities in which the data on the utilization of structural funds, implemented plans, etc. were obtained through interviews. based on the results of this analysis, the success of funds utilization is evaluated in selected municipalities
