The financial crisis in Russia in 1998 : Why was ruble devaluation?
Baikovskaya, Tatsiana ; Tegze, Miron (advisor) ; Hlaváček, Jiří (referee)
This thesis aims to analyze the financial crisis in Russia in 1998, which combined a currency crisis, a debt crisis and a banking crisis. The main purpose of the work is to analyze the main reasons that lead up to the crisis. I argue that the mainstream theoretical models of currency crisis do not capture every aspect of the whole magnitude of the events in Russian economic system by August 1998. In order to explain the whole complexity of Russian financial turmoil it is absolutely necessary to analyze the origins that stood behind the crisis, which I consider to be found in country's economic structure, institutional environment and political processes. Procedure SDKL-Miner for data mining
Tegze, Miron ; Lín, Václav (referee) ; Rauch, Jan (advisor)
A new data mining GUHA procedure SDKL-Miner is presented which extends current data mining system LISp-Miner developed on the VŠE Praha. The procedure mines for various patterns based on evaluation of two two-dimensional contingency tables. A simple comparing quantifier is implemented. Tests and new results for this quantifier are presented together with set of examples of it's use. New directions of future development are proposed. The use of statistical dependency tests and the use of both vector and matrix majorization are analyzed in more details. The procedure is a result of continued development of the academic LISp-Miner system for knowledge discovery and data mining.
Multinational corporations - determinants of their impact on the national economy on the example of automotive industry
Kareš, Ondřej ; Turnovec, František (advisor) ; Tegze, Miron (referee)
This thesis discusses the question of multinational enterprises (MNE), international production and their impact on the national economy. In the beginning it considers the theoretical reasons for the occurrance of multinational corporations and incentives for their behavior. On some stylized facts it illustrates their significance in the world economy and Czech Republic. The new method of international production is then demonstrated on the example of the automotive sector, as an industry dominated by huge MNE both on the side of original equipment manufacturers and in the whole supplier base. In the last section spillover effects of MNE on national firms are analyzed on the data from the Czech manufacturing industry in the years 2000 -2005. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
European migration policy : Is transition period necessary?
Redlová, Lucie ; Tegze, Miron (advisor) ; Marková, Jana (referee)
The paper examines if the transition period restricting free movement of labour is necessary in the case of "Eastern" enlargement. Analysis of the impact of enlargement on labour markets of original states indicates that labour migration has not expected volume. Studies based on econometric models or opinion polls sugest the same conclusions. I will provide the summary of theoretical aproaches to migration and of migration movements in Europe in the past. Then I will summarize common migration policy of European Union. Next chapters deal with the enlargement - the past enlargement experiences (Greece, Portugal and Spain), Eastern enlargement and also recent entry of Romania and Bulgaria. Flow-shop Problems
Dyntar, Tomáš ; Tegze, Miron (advisor) ; Červinka, Michal (referee)
A description of flow shop and lot streaming including an example is given. Methods and algorithms ofr solving various modifications of the single job two-machine flow shop transfer lot sizing problem are shown. It starts with the calsulation of two lots (discrete), three lots (continuous) problem and then Trietsch s polynomial algorithm or an arbitrary number of sublots is introduced. This alogithm is then used for solving modifications with finding the proper number of sublots for given makespan, with constant or linear transfer times including variants with limited number of transfer machines or their limited capacity, with constant or linear set up times. A domed with both transfer and setup times is then developed and Trietschs algorithm modified. A theoreme by R. G. Vickson for solving multiple job lot streaming problem by treating the lot streaming problem for each job separately and then using Johnsons alogorithm is proposed to extend the results of the single job cases to those of multiple jobs. A known way to extend results to the three machine problem by treating each pair of successive machines separately or developing Trietschs algorithm for three machines is shown. Most of the procedures are illustrated in examples.
MARKET FOR ATTENTION: CONSEQUENCES OF INFORMATIONAL GAPS ON PERFORMANCE OF MASS MEDIA
Palguta, Ján ; Tegze, Miron (advisor) ; Kollar, Miroslav (referee)
In my dissertation I examine the mutual relationship between a company in mass media market and its customers, where the company enjoys an informational advantage over its customers about the quality of the provided information goods. The mass media companies compete for customers? attention, i.e. for the total number of watchers, readers, subscribers, etc., because that determines their profits. The document analyses the market mechanisms under information asymmetry and adds to the standard analysis of supply and demand the notion on the quality of the exchanged service. The principal aim of this work is to economically explain the contemporary trends of scandal-mongering, sensationalism, unprofessional and unethical practices in the mass media market and by the reputation theory describe the behaviour of companies trying to protect their goodwill. The work comments on the welfare implications of the existing market structure and it suggests procedures available for overcoming of the information asymmetry.
Are differences between Czech and British Public Private Partnership related to the necessities of their economics?
Španerová, Zuzana ; Tegze, Miron (advisor)
Předmětem diplomové práce ?Odpovídají rozdíly českých a britských Public Private Partnership rozdílným potřebám jejich ekonomik?? je analyzovat Public Private Partnership procesy v České republice a Velké Británii, a to z hlediska institucionálního a legislativního zabezpečení. První část diplomové práce podává ucelený obraz o spolupráci soukromého a veřejného sektoru formou PPP.
