The contemporary Norwegians' understanding of Russenorsk

This bachelor thesis aims to compare the Russenorsk pidgin with the Norwegian language, specifically Bokmål, to find out if they are very similar and to answer the question of whether the contemporary Norwegians understand Russenorsk. The main part of the work compares Russenorsk with the Norwegian language on the morphological, syntactic, and lexical levels. It focuses primarily on clause elements, word formation processes, and sentence structure in Russenorsk and Norwegian. The work deals more thoroughly with the mentioned pidgin, while only the most relevant aspects of the Norwegian grammar are mentioned. Russenorsk has a lot of similarities with Norwegian, but it is a pidgin composed of two languages and Russian also plays a role in it. It differs from Norwegian by different morphological rules, its sentence structure, limited vocabulary with parallel expressions (both of Russian and Norwegian origin). The second part of the work is a short analysis of the questionnaire, which contains various sentences in Russenorsk. The questionnaire was filled in anonymously by Norwegians, who answered the questions and solved tasks related to the translation, understanding, and identification of clause elements in Russenorsk. Alienation, Anxiety and Searching for Identity in Stig Dagerman's Novel Bränt barn

The aim of this thesis is to record a relation between the French existentialism and the existentialist novel Bränt barn written by Stig Dagerman, firstly published in 1948. The comparison with French existentialism is drawn on the basis of the philosophical writings of the prominent existentialist writer J. P. Sartre and already written pieces of work on the topic of Stig Dagerman and existentialism. In the thesis, the emphasis is first of all placed on these three thematic areas: alienation, anxiety and seeking one's identity. They are interconnected with other existentialist phenomena such as absurdity, insincerity or freedom and responsibility. Sartre's philosophy is very similar to Dagerman's thoughts. Apparently, there is a huge influence of existentialist philosophy in Dagerman's literature in loneliness and absurdity of the main character's life. On the contrary, Dagerman chooses his own unusual approach when talking about distress or fear. Moreover, signs of inspiration by Freud's psychoanalysis appear in his work.

Biblical Intertextuality in Torgny Lindgren's Novels

This thesis analyses biblical intertextuality in selected novels of the Swedish writer Torgny Lindgren. The goal of the thesis is to determine the ways of use and the function of biblical intertextuality in Lindgren's work. The paper consists of two parts. The first, theoretical part outlines the theory of intertextuality and the life and work of Torgny Lindgren. The second, practical part contains detailed analyses of the novels Ormens väg på hälleberget (1982, The Way of a Serpent), Bat Seba (1984, Bathsheba) and Norrlands akvavit. The analysis shows the plurality of ways Lingren uses to involve biblical intertextuality in individual novels. Chronic innocence: A queer reading

Bc. Martina Stanjurová The Chronic Innocence: A Queer Reading Abstract: The Master's thesis analyses Klaus Rifbjerg's novel The Chronic Innocence (1958), one of the central works of the Danish literature. The analysis is carried out from the gender studies perspective, namely through the principles of the post structuralist queer theories. The thesis deals with the analysis of the dynamics of the relationship between the central figures, the narrator Janus and his classmate Tore. By using the queer reading method, the thesis unveils how the narrator expresses and conceals his platonic fascination for the friend. Moreover, the thesis tries to explain the essence of the narrator's relationship to the female figures, which shows misogynic traits.

The Swedish speaking minority in Finland and its identity in the work of Kjell Westö

This thesis examines the Swedish speaking minority in the area of Finland. Because Finland had been a part of the Kingdom of Sweden for some centuries, the Swedish language had a dominant position in Finland for quite some time. The Swedish language kept its high prestige even during the period of the Russian rule that began in 1809. In the 2nd part of the 19th century the status of the Swedish language weakened to a large extent and today it is considered to be a minority language of Finland. The purpose of this thesis is in the first instance to define the term of identity and the specifics of minority identity. Subsequently I will focus on the the Swedish speaking minority in Finland, its self- concept, history and literature. In the last part of my thesis I will investigate the work of the Finland- Swedish writer Kjell Westö, in particular his depiction of his own Finland- Swedish identity.
