THE CREATIVE VISUAL TREATMENT: UTRPENÍ KNÍŽETE STERNENHOCHA

The main theme of my thesis is the art conception of film elaboration Ladislav Klíma´s grotescque romanetto ?Prince Sternenhoch´s suffering.? Part of thesis are color perspektives which show general colourness and film solution without trying to solve all scenes but showing enough the way which the film elaboration would follow.
Another part of thesis solves problematics of mental state visualization in the film work through samples on the examples from Czech and World Cinema.

The artistic approach to the film adaptation of the historical novel "L´Attaque" by Eoghan Ó Tuairisc, The degree of adherence to historical facts in the work of the artist while dealing with a dramat

This diploma thesis is divided into theoretical and practical (creative) parts. The theoretical part discusses the term ?historical film? in general; several examples from world and Czech cinematography demonstrate the relationship between reality and fiction together with different types and rates of stylisation. The films discussed were selected with regard to their diversity; however, not only their origin and age were taken into account, but also the historical period in which they are taking place. Therefore, these pieces are studied in terms of artwork stylisation, not as a comparison of film analysis. The practical part presents the artistic concept of a film based on the Irish historical novel L?Attaque from Eoghan Ó Tuairisc. The artwork proposal is presented as pictures from main scenes and as important reference photographs. The storyline is briefly described and the scene sequence presented is based on the aforementioned novel.

Visual concept of the movie "Normal". City as a dramatic space in film.

The theoretical part of the thesis deals with questions how the city environment is pictured in cinema. The thesis is mainly focused on the contemporary city and appearance of different types of city structure. The method of the thesis is to analyse selected movies with focus on scenographic solutions of the whole movie and at the same time on the connections between the movie exterior and interior.
Main part of the thesis solves the graphic form design of the movie Normal, in accordance with script of Julius Ševčík. The script processes the tale of serial murderer Petr Kurten and it takes place in Germany in 1930. The thesis consists of a brief summary of historical circumstances, description of design, graphic processing of pictures and contemporary references. The graphic part of the thesis includes imaging of main scenes, which are selected to work out majority of stage sets occuring in the movie. Basic part of the design is presented in black-and-white, there are also numerous colour perspective drawings, which induce the color scheme and general mood of the movie. The aim of the project is to create dramatic setting in correspondence with the script and historical context.

THE DESIGN CONCEPT OF THE FILM THE WIZ, EXAMPLES OF THE DESIGN CONCEPTS IN THE WORLD CINEMATOGRAPHY´S FAIRY TALES

The content of my diploma work is the design concept of the film fairy tale.
It includes a theoretical part and a project.
The theoretical part defines formal and visual conditions for a successful film fairy tale. It describes the production design of five international films and appraises their design concept.
As my projet I present the production design of the film The Wiz based on the theatre musical. I write about my concept, present sketches of the main sequences and the most important reference pictures. I describe briefly the plot and propose the sequence of scenes based on the script.
The conclusion summarizes the general film requirements and the conditions of my design´s creation.
