Impact of the American mortgage crisis on the economy of Czech republic

The diploma thesis clarifies main causes of the mortgage market meltdown in the USA as a starter to the global financial problems. The objective of the thesis is to analyze the American mortgage and housing market price bubble according to the views of the Austrian school of economics, which claims that problems were caused by inappropriate intervention of the U.S. Federal Government, Federal Reserve System and other government institutions in the markets. Furthermore, the thesis criticize the actions and measures taken by the U.S. government to stabilize the economy, which only seeks to alleviate the consequences, not to prevent the causes. Last chapter of the thesis analyze the impact of the subsequent financial crisis and global economic downturn on financial market, real economy and international trade of Czech republic.

Protection of intellectual property rights in WTO

The graduation thesis surveys present treatment of intellectual property rights and their protection in WTO. The thesis briefly characterizes WTO and describes the development of protection of intellectual property before the TRIPS agreement was concluded. Furthermore, the thesis focuses on the TRIPS agreement in detail because it is the most important instrument of protection of intellectual property rights at present. The thesis critically evaluates the regulation of particular legal institutes in TRIPS agreement and describes disputes of WTO member states in the relevant field. At the end of the thesis there is an outline of means for execution of the rights, present problems in the particular field and possible future development of the regulation.
The Czech support for direct investment in processing industry

The thesis analyses the role of industry in modern developed economies and the real approach of the Czech Republic to this fact. The first chapter deals with the general conditions of the Czech social and economic conditions containing relation between labour costs and productivity of labour, flexibility of labour market, economic implications of language and geography, institutional aspects. The second chapter is concerned about the importance of industrial sector in developed countries according to the discussion about the interpretation of statistical data, growth of productivity and flow of foreign direct investment. There is discussed the problem definiton of high-tech, medium-tech and low-tech branches. The third chapter deals with the causes of phenomenon called duality of economy. The causes are used as the reason for necessary connection between manufacturing process and qualified manual worker. The fourth chapter analyses qualitative aspects of qualified manual worker in the conditions of capital intensive processes, i.e. machine setter/maintenance man and programmable automation. The fifth chapter explains my methodological point of view, the necessity of technical knowledge for economic analysis. The sixth chapter contains analysis of the Czech secondary education, the vocational schools are stressed. The seventh chapter analyses some aspects of system supporting flow of direct investments to the Czech Republic.
The comparison of institutional export support in the CR and in the SR

This bachelor thesis deals with the institutional export support in the Czech and Slovak Republic. The main aim of this thesis is to characterize the pro-export policy of the Czech and Slovak Republic, to evaluate the differences in the approaches of both counties to support of domestic exporters and to describe how each state institution have changed the approach to the export support during the global economic crisis, if it ever did.
Evaluation of Abilitiy of the Czech Republic to Adopt the Common European Currency

The aim of this thesis is to evaluate the ability of the Czech republic to join the euro area. It deals with the fulfilment of Maastricht convergence criteria and predition of their fulfilment in the near future. In this thesis an analysis of real convergence criteria is also included to indicate the alignment between economic levels of euro area and the Czech Repulic. One chapter is dedicated to the adaptation mechanisms that would help the Czech Republic when dealing with the external macroeconomic shocks. Finally, there is a short description of the whole process of adapting euro in the Czech Republic with the implementation of "Big Bang" scenario.
Influence of the Migration Process on the Development of the Balance of Payments in the Czech Republic

The content of the thesis is the international labour migration and its impact on the balance of payments in the Czech Republic. The first chapter provides the theoretical framework for the balance of payments, its classification and the principle of international transactions recordings. The following chapter is focused on the international migration flows, the current tendencies and issues. The final parts of the thesis describe the current situation of migrants in the Czech Republic, their impact on the economy development in the context of the income and current transfers of the balance of payments. The main goal of this study is to review how much the labour migration influences the development of the balance of payments in the Czech Repulic.
The Importance of Credit Rating and Credit Rating Agencies on the Stability of International Financial Markets

Credit rating agencies judge the creditworthiness of the debtors and debt obligations and the relative probability of their default. Credit rating plays a very important role in the financial markets. It influences the behavior of all participants (investors, debtors and regulators) of the market transactions. The first part of the thesis deals with definition and function of the credit rating. The main controversial points in the activity of the credit rating agencies will be discussed, as well as how the industry is regulated. In the second part it is claimed that the opinions of the credit rating agencies on sovereign bonds (sovereign rating) contribute to the overheating of the economies or to the deeper recession due to procyclicity of the rating. The actual credit rating of the country will be compared with a rating based on a theoretical model designed with publicly available economic data.
Impacts of the world crisis on foreign trade of Slovak republic (2007-2009)

The graduation thesis discuses the development of the foreign trade of Slovak republic in years 1993 - 2009. It takes a closer look on foreign trade in time of the crisis 2007-2009 and describes the impacts of the recesion. It also proposes some measures that can protect foreign trade of small opened economy of Slovakia agains next recesions. Thesis is devided into four chapters, which deal beside mentioned above also with the importance of foreign trade for Slovakia and with the process of the crisis.
Particularities of Global FDI Flows between 2007 and 2009

The principal objective of the work is to determine particularities of global FDI flows during the current economic crisis vis-a-vis preceding years. It is divided into four main parts and at first starts with a general description of FDIs. Then a description of behaviour of FDIs during 2000-2006 is provided and several indicators used by UNCTAD in its WIRs are also presented. After that, as soon as the development of FDIs at the beginning of the present century is known, a detailed text revealing the evolution of global FDI flows since the beginning of the crisis till the end of 2009 comes. The last important chapter is dedicated to the detection of particularitites of global FDI flows, whereas findings gained in previous parts have been also used.
