Decision to leave workplace in non-medical healthcare workers
Picmausová, Ivana ; Heczková, Jana (advisor) ; Jeřábková, Lenka (referee)
The fluctuation of nursing staff in the medical facilities is not just current problem in the Czech Republic. Aging population will present higher demand for number of nursing staff. It is assumed that the insufficient number of nursing staff will remain and even rise (also due to aging of the staff) if appropriate actions are not taken (Simoens et al., 2005). This thesis discusses the decision to migrate amongst the nursing staff - general nurses, practical nurses, midwives, and emergency paramedics within the medical facility. It analyses the reasons for changing their workplace. The investigation was executed using the questionnaire method. It was conducted in January and February of 2020 in the selected medical facility in the Czech Republic. Total of 701 questionnaires were distributed to all inpatient wards, outpatient departments and intensive care units. The investigation targeted nursing medical staff. A statistical analysis of the results was performed Mann-Whitney U test was used to monitor the differences for decision to migrate based on various characteristics and responses. Total of 415 completed questionnaires were analysed in this investigation. 61/415 (14.7 %) responders consider the change of workplace. The most common nursing staff members to consider the change were general...

Grégrová, Stanislava ; Kulířová, Veronika (advisor) ; Jeřábková, Lenka (referee)
The rapid development of the intensive care medicine with a large amount of highly specific information requires sufficiently educated nurses in the field. A nurse anesthetist is a nurse working in intensive care with a focus on anesthesiology. She provides highly specialized nursing care to patients during the course of general or local anesthesia. The work is divided into two parts, a theoretical part and a practical part. The theoretical part focuses on the development of anesthesiology and intensive care medicine. It also focuses on the education of nurses. The education of nurses is summarised from historical beginnings to the present time. This part also includes new requirements for the education of non-medical medical staff and the current supporting legislation. Higher education for intensive care is also mentioned. The next chapter of the theoretical part focuses on the competencies of nurses in anesthesiology and intensive care medicine. The practical part includes interviews with six nurses. Three interviews were conducted with nurses that witnessed the beginnings of the field of anesthesiology as we know it nowadays. The method of qualitative research, study of documents, analysis of primary archival sources of the Ministry of Health, NLK, ÚVN, legislation, periodicals, professional...
The influence of the burnout syndrome on the sexuality of paramedics
Kunešová, Kristýna ; Dynáková, Šárka (advisor) ; Jeřábková, Lenka (referee)
Introduction to the issue: This paper examines the impact of burnout syndrome, which is common among caring professionals, on the sexuality of male paramedics. The term "burnout" was coined in the US 25 years ago. Burnout is defined as a mental state resulting from constant and long-term exposure to stress, especially in relation to psychosocial work factors (Melamed and Shirom, 2006). The effect of burnout syndrome on sexuality is a topic that has received very little attention. That is why I decided to cooperate with PhDr. Šárka Dynáková, Ph.D. and doc. PhDr. Jan Kožnar, CSc, who are working on an international study in the Czech Republic on the effects of burnout syndrome on human health. Methodology: For the theoretical part of this diploma thesis, use was made of monographs and databases. For the practical part, quantitative data was collected using standardized questionnaires distributed among male paramedics. The first questionnaire focused on burnout syndrome using a validated questionnaire for the Czech Republic, one that applies the Shirom-Melamed scale from 2006 (Ptáček, 2013). An extended Kroměříž version of the Sexual Functions of Men questionnaire was used for collecting the data on sexuality (Kratochvíl, 1999). After establishing five working hypotheses (H), the relationship between...
The role of nurse in the pharmacotherapy team
Hašková, Martina ; Heczková, Jana (advisor) ; Jeřábková, Lenka (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with current pharmacotherapeutic care with a focus on activities that nurses take part in. The aim was to collect and evaluate the views and experiences of selected nurses regarding their role in pharmacotherapy team, particularly what activities they perform in such team and how their pharmacotherapy teams work in general. SWOT analysis was then used firstly to evaluate the current role of nurses and secondly to suggest a way of implementation of possible extension of nurses' competencies in pharmacotherapy. In order to collect the required data, semi-structured interviews were conducted. These were recorded, so they could be easily processed afterwards. During transcription of the interviews into written text, all the collected data was briefly analysed. The data was further analysed using the open coding method, when three main categories with specific subcategories and subcodes were identified. All the selected men and women, which were asked for cooperation, are people working as a nurse without supervision and mentoring. Based on their career history all of them were expected to have a more specific experience with the issue. The respondents were mainly nurses with long-term working experience, often working in middle or senior management. When selecting the future...

Multicultural communication on the intensive care unit
Korfelová, Lenka ; Kordulová, Pavla (advisor) ; Jankovcová, Kateřina (referee) ; Lukášová Jeřábková, Lenka (referee)
(v AJ) The theme of the theses is the nursing process from the point of view of multicultural nursing care of the patient-foreigner in a critical condition admitted to the intensive care unit. Considering the rise of tourism and the number of immigrants in the CR, the increasing number of patients-foreigners can be expected. The mutual communication and the impact of ethno-cultural influence on nursing is becoming a subject of the global interest. Patients' life threatening, stress, and a necessity of prompt and swift decision-making both by patients and health care professionals play a role in the intensive care. The theoretical part of the theses explains the basic concepts associated with multicultural nursing, the legislative framework of the nursing process and the topic of communication with foreigners in an intensive care. The language barriers and ways of overcoming the barriers are defined in this part. Methodology: I chose the case study method for my bachelor theses. A case report of a French patient hospitalized in a critical condition in an intensive care unit was processed from the point of view of multicultural nursing. The basis of the work was the application of theoretical knowledge of the Transcultural Nursing Society and deep insight and understanding my own cultural values and...

It is a set of activities related to health promotion, prevention, assessment, treatment, rehabilation and nursing care. There activities are provided as close to the patient's social environment as possible, respecting the bio-psycho- social needs (NCDP ČR, 2017). Objective: The main goal of this thesis is to clarify and explain the most significant differences in primary care of the patient in the Czech and American health care, focusing on the biggest problems and the advantages that are present at primary care level. The issue is viewed in the context of the social and cultural environment, which makes patient care in some respects specific. Questions: What is the education of a primary care nurse in the US? What are the competencies of a primary care nurse in the US? What is the nursing position in the US multidisciplinary primary care team? What competencies could be effectively transferred to the Czech healthcare system and why? Svobodová, Lucie ; Lukášová Jeřábková, Lenka (advisor) ; Jankovcová, Kateřina (referee)
This Bachelor thesis deals with problems of home care. At present, the whole population is aging in the Czech Republic, increasing the number of people with limited self-sufficiency. These individuals often seek help from home care services, so it is important that they know the opportunities that this service can provide. The main aim of the bachelor thesis is to find out the awareness among patients with limited self-sufficiency about the possibilities of home care. In line with the bachelor thesis topic and goal setting, I defined the following hypotheses: Hypothesis H1: I presume that more than 50 % of respondents evaluate their awareness about the possibilities of home care as insufficient. Hypothesis H2: I suppose that more than 50 % of respondents do not know who is competent to indicate home care. Hypothesis H3: I think that more than half of the respondents are not informed about the possibility of reimbursing some home care services by the health insurance company. For the bachelor thesis, the method of quantitative research was chosen. I obtained the required data using a non-standardized questionnaire of my own design. I filled out the questionnaire personally with each respondent. Respondents were patients from internal departments and hospices from unnamed Prague hospitals. All...
