Financial Resources of Social Enterprises in the Czech Republic

This diploma thesis investigates the sources of finance for Czech social enterprises. It comprises of two parts - the Theoretical Part and the Empirical Part. The Theoretical Part is divided into 5 chapters. In these chapters, I start by defining concepts that relate to social enterprises. Then, I explain theories of the establishment of social enterprises and two traditional approaches to this establishment, a European approach and an American approach. Finally, I focus primarily on funding possibilities for Czech social enterprises. The Empirical Part, consisting of 6 chapters, is a case study of two Czech social enterprises - (1) Ethnocatering, which is established by an unincorporated association InBáze, and (2) Rettigovky, operating under a charitable trust Komuniké. The aim of this diploma thesis is, first, to find out similarities and differences in the sources of finance between the two Czech social enterprises, which are established on the basis of two distinct traditional approaches, and, second, to ascertain which traditional approach is better for Czech conditions and why. Organizational changes in Civil Society Organizations, depending on subsidies from the EU

The thesis deals with the organizational changes in connection with the use of subsidies from the European Union. It focuses on the changes and processes in civil society Organizations, these processes identifies and describes. It also examines which of them can lead to the successful functioning of the organization. Based on the theoretical assumption that in civil society organizations certain organizational changes occur as a result of subsidies from the EU. This assumption is based on findings from previous published studies and work. Presented theory are demonstrated on examples of good practice, using case study.

External Dimension of CSR Social Pillar in Škoda Auto

The thesis External dimension of CSR social pillar in Škoda Auto: company's activities and local community deals with the company's activities, which have an impact on the community of Mladá Boleslav. Particular focus is given to external dimension of social pillar of CSR. However the other activities, which are not declared as part of CSR.but have some impact on the local community, are also described in the thesis. One of the main goals of the thesis is to find out how the local NGOs percieve these activities and if they are trying to actively influence the CSR strategy of the company. The research is based on contemporrary theories in CSR, moreover the concept of cross-sectoral partnership is used. The output of the thesis is the evaluation of external dimension of CSR social pillar in Škoda Auto and proposal of new strategy, based on the collaboration with the local stakeholders using the topics suitable to cross-sectoral partnership.
Benefits of cooperation of mother centres with the municipalities: Mother centres and their part in the creation of civil society

This diploma thesis deals with the question of mother centres, their significance in civil society and evaluates the cooperation between mother centres and municipalities, in which these centres operate. This thesis includes definitions of concepts as family, role of the family, and status of women in the family. It describes the role of the state in relation to the families and family policy in specific region. In this diploma thesis is stated what the meaning of mother centres, how they are formed and how they influence civil society. Within the empirical part of the thesis I have tried to assess the activity of the selected mother centres, their promotion and their cooperation with the Network of the mother centres and their cooperation with the public sector institutions. This diploma thesis contains the results of investigation in the municipalities as well. In the conclusion of the thesis there is an evaluation of the cooperation between mother centres and municipalities. Civic society organizations providing social services and entrepreneurial activities in Pardubice region

SYNOPSIS This thesis covers partial universe of civic society organizations that provide social services in Pardubice region. The primary goal of the thesis is to explore, through a questionnaire research, whether the income generated by these organizations is a determining factor in their association with the concept of social economy and social enterprise. The secondary goal is to identify, using semi-structured interviews with the representatives of civic society organizations, how they fulfill principles of social enterprise based to the "softer definition" developed by EMES. The first two chapters introduce concepts of public sector and social economy as well as identify their similarities and differences. It is followed by a description of social services and support of civic society organizations from the view point of several parties. The third chapter is dedicated to the actual research.
Benefits and importance of financial resources of social entrepreneurship for nonprofit organizations

This diploma thesis is focused on the contribution and importance of financial resources of social entrepreneurship for nonprofit organizations. The main goal is to analyze the evolution of nonprofit organization's funding from Czech public funds and to identify benefits and importance of financial resources of social entrepreneurship for nonprofit organizations. The theoretical part brings description of financial resources for nonprofit organizations and explanation of social entrepreneurship concept and social enterprise definition. The research of diploma thesis brings the analysis of evolution of nonprofit organization's funding from Czech public funds from 1999 to 2009 and the identification of benefits, importance and share of financial resources of social entrepreneurship in specific nonprofit organization - Domov Sue Ryder, o.p.s. The identification of benefits and importance of financial resources of social entrepreneurship is based on the analysis of evolution of sources, costs and own revenues (sources) from 2001 to 2010 in selected nonprofit organization. The output of this diploma thesis is the evaluation of benefits and importance of financial resources of social entrepreneurship for nonprofit organizations.

Changes of Intercultural Competence and the Image of Global Citizenship within Erasmus Graduates

Every year thanks to the Erasmus Programme hundreds of students spend a semester studying at a university abroad. In the Czech Republic available data cover only the number of student mobilities and of ECTS credits acquired, or show how the students were satisfied with their studies. The goal of the thesis is to find out whether, or how, the students' intercultural competence increased, how their view on citizenship changed, and how they perceive global citizenship. In the thesis, intercultural competence is measured purely quantitatively using the Multicultural Personality Questionnaire, citizenship is studied by the use of several open questions. Liberal model of citizenship is the most prominent among the students. As for global citizenship, the students' opinions vary. Most often, it was described as an affiliation to the Earth. Intercultural competence has not increased substantially in connection with the studies abroad. If not only academic development, but also increase in intercultural competence and development of responsible (global) citizens is to be achieved by studies abroad, students need to be better prepared for their stay.
