Critique of society in the novel La familia de León Roch
Formanová, Natálie ; Sánchez Fernández, Juan Antonio (advisor) ; Marešová, Jaroslava (referee)
Benito Pérez Galdós was an extraordinary writer who had the talent to portray in his works the social problems of Spain in the second half of the 19th century, in this case through the topic of family. No character in his work is unnecessary, as each symbolizes certain issues and values. The author was able to give each dialogue great meaning, so not only each character, but also every conversation subtly reveals to us the state of society at that time and Galdós's perspective on it. This work aims to see through the fog in which these hidden meanings reside and thus find out the problems the author points out in his book. At the same time, it tries to figure out what his ideals were. Based on the analysis of the work La familia de León Roch, it can be concluded that the author criticized not only the superficial Christianity of the time but also the overall decadence of society, the spreading selfishness, the behavior of the aristocracy, their cold relationships, and so on. The author also pays special attention to the theme of Krausism and its implementation.

Tesařová, Dominika ; Sánchez Fernández, Juan Antonio (advisor) ; Marešová, Jaroslava (referee)
The bachelor's thesis focuses on the literary phenomenon of intertextuality in the work Artificial Respiration by Argentine writer Ricardo Piglia. The first part of the thesis discusses the definition and outline of the concept and theory of intertextuality. The concept is understood in the thesis through different theories of intertextuality and proves the inherent impossibility of a precise definition. The thesis relies primarily on the theory of Gérard Genette, whose concept of transtextuality is used to interpret the novel. Furthermore, the thesis introduces intertextual tendencies in the wider work of the author himself. In the second part, the thesis focuses on identifying selected intertextual motifs in the novel Artificial Respiration. The focus will be on Jorge Luis Borges and Franz Kafka and their influence on the Artificial Respiration. The aim of the bachelor thesis is to show the wide range of uses of intertextuality. In particular, the exploration of history, the past or contemporary events through intertextuality, which functions in the work as a tool that enables the interpretation of the given themes. The second angle of examination is the use of intertextuality to articulate and manifest the author's own literary canon through the use of intertextuality.

Kožnerová, Tereza ; Sánchez Fernández, Juan Antonio (advisor) ; Poláková, Dora (referee) ; Prokop, Josef (referee)
The Catalan poet Pere Gimferrer represents a distinctive personality of the poetry group Novísimos, active mainly in the 1970s. His work was influenced by the reality of life in Spain after the Civil War, especially postism and social poetry. Literary postmodernism also played a significant role in his poetic formation. From the multitude of influences that shaped Pere Gimferrer, this thesis aims to map in detail the influence of the (post)modern poetry of Thomas Stearns Eliot and Ezra Pound on Gimferrer's work. Pere Gimferrer's poetry approaches his models through literary techniques innovative at the time - intertextuality, metapoetry, culturalism, or the use of popular culture elements within the poetic text. The influence of both poets writing in English is mapped on Gimferrer's two magnificent works, namely the poetry collection Arde el mar and the poem L'espai desert. These two Gimferrer's pieces of work are compared with T. S. Eliot's The Waste Land and Ezra Pound's Cantos. Comparing Gimferrer's texts with the poetry of Ezra Pound and T. S. Eliot using comparative textual analysis convincingly shows that Pere Gimferrer knew the mentioned works of both poets and used similar themes and motifs. At the same time, it can be argued that Pere Gimferrer uses similar images and scenes, harmonizes a...

Then, the narrative structure is compared with Cervantes' novel Don Quijote which is based on the same type of narrative strategy.
