Validity of commercially available smartwatches when estimating energy expenditure
Kopecký, David ; Pokorný, Jan (referee) ; Řehák Kopečková, Barbora (advisor)
Metabolic rate is an energy quantity. Its value is a key input not only in thermophysiological models, but also in the calculation of heat stress indices or complex models predicting a person's thermal sensation. With the dynamic development of technology, sporttesters are able to estimate energy expenditure, among other things. It is a non-invasive method of estimating energy expenditure, or metabolic rate, using associated body functions to predict it. This work deals with the validity of the accuracy of metabolic rate estimation using the Garmin Fenix 6X Pro sporttester in comparison with indirect calorimetry. The accuracy of the metabolic rate estimation was tested for the activities of lying down, administrative work and cycling with regulated mechanical resistance of 100 and 150 W. 15 male subjects aged 28 ± 5 years, with a weight of 83.2 ± 13.5 kg and a height of 180 ± 7 cm participated in the study. In terms of the results, it is possible to observe a lower accuracy of prediction of metabolic rate for low-intensity activities, with the resulting MAPE being around 19-43 %. On the other hand, for activities with moderate activity, the prediction of the metabolic rate by the used sporttester proved to be sufficiently accurate, with a resulting MAPE in the range of 6–8 %.
Use of information technology in research-oriented teaching of probability and statistics
KOPECKÝ, Jiří
This dissertation focuses on the integration of random set simulations into the teaching of probability and statistics in high schools using an inquiry-based approach. The aim is to determine whether such integration can contribute to changing the perception of these subjects among high school students. The research question is: "How does the use of random set simulations in research-oriented teaching affect the perceptions and attitudes of grammar school students towards the subjects of probability and statistics?" The study involved an analysis of the responses of 52 respondents from the control and experimental groups who completed semantic differential questionnaires. The 110 t-tests conducted showed that there were statistically significant differences in the responses of the two groups in the perceptions within the semantic space of students for probability as faster and more varied and for statistics as more useful. In the didactic reconstruction of the content for the secondary level, learning objectives were set at three levels of sophistication. The results showed that more than half of the high school students were able to create simulations of random sets with clusters or regular sets and to detect and eliminate the most common errors. Research suggests that incorporating random set simulations into the classroom can be an effective tool for improving understanding and increasing interest in probability and statistics. Moreover, this method supports the development of digital competences and programming skills, which are increasingly important in today's educational environment. The work also shows that random set simulations can help high school students to better understand the basic concepts of statistics and probability, which is important in the context of their growing importance in the modern world.
Biological and social predictors and correlates of human morality
Kopecký, Robin
In this dissertation, we delve into the multifaceted domains of biological and social factors influencing human morality. The connecting element of this collection of four studies is both an interest in human morality as a traditional philosophical topic and the use of methods from empirical sciences, particularly biology, behavioural, and cognitive sciences. The first study focuses on the moral algorithms in autonomous vehicles. We examined moral preferences regarding the choice between software types that differ in their built-in algorithms for dealing with lethal collisions. These are categorized into three specific types: selfish, altruistic, and conservative. Respondents exhibited a preference for the altruistic strategy, which is reinforced when signalled to others. The altruistic preference is the most pronounced when it applies to everybody else, weaker when it reflects only a personal choice, and the weakest when choosing for one's own child. We conclude that making a choice public significantly sways individuals towards a more socially beneficial solution. The second study investigates the relationship between parasite Toxoplasma gondii infection and its subsequent impact on human political beliefs and values. Infected participants exhibited a tendency towards heightened tribalism and...
Tram Transport - Public Transportation Backbone
Kopecký, Vojtěch ; Všetečka, Martin (referee) ; Valehrach, Jan (advisor)
The work Tram transport as the backbone of public transport deals with the issue of tram transport as the main mode of transport in the city of Brno. Emphasis is placed on the history of the Brno system, including its connection with trolleybus transport. Furthermore, the current state of the Brno street railway and fast trams and their supplementation by trolleybus transport are described in detail, including the processing of socio-economic data that determine the system. In comparison with other cities in the Czech Republic, but also abroad, its positive and negative aspects are identified. Based on this information, the potential future development of the system is processed, especially the construction of new lines and the improvement of existing tracks.

Diagnosis sliding contact using practical applications "Methods particulate"
Kopecký, Jiří ; Mach, Martin (referee) ; Veselka, František (advisor)
This thesis deals with the sliding contact of electrical machines and its diagnostic methods. Namely, the dust-particles method for assessing the length decrease of brushes is deeply described. Then, usage of the method in industry is described. The comparison of accuracy between manual version and new automated version of the method using computer analysis is presented. The final section is devoted to the practical verification of the new automated version which was developed especially for large machines. Measurements were performed on a small machine.
