Ostracods of selected stratigraphic levels of the Ordovician of the Prague Basin
Lajblová, Karolína ; Kraft, Petr (advisor) ; Holcová, Katarína (referee) ; Kyška Pipík, Radovan (referee)
The submitted doctoral thesis presents an introductory comment and a set of four publications focused on the revision of the Ordovician ostracods of the Prague Basin. The research of them was insufficient in past in contrast to the diversity and abundance of ostracod material recorded in this area. Major characteristics of the study group with a focus on morphology, ecology and history of research are discussed in the introductory chapters. In the following parts, the attention is paid to the ostracods of the Lower, Middle and Upper Ordovician of the Prague Basin and their comparison with assemblages of the other paleoregions. The published papers are focused on the comprehensive revisions of the ostracods of the Klabava, Šárka and Králův Dvůr formations. The studies resulted in systematic monographs supplemented with a study on the ontogeny of the widespread species Conchoprimitia osekensis (Přibyl, 1979). The taxonomy, palaeogeography and overall diversity of studied Ordovician species are also included and discussed.
Informal education in the Existential hagiotherapy course for the general public
Holcová, Katarína ; Kříž, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Kolek, Jindřich (referee)
The diploma thesis focuses on informal education in the Existential hagiotherapy course. The theoretical part is devoted to the analysis and analysis of professional literature in the field of lifelong and informal adult education and existential hagiotherapy. It presents strategic documents in the field of non-formal education, religious and spiritual literature as well as existential hagiotherapy. Based on this analysis, basic terms are defined and elements of spiritual education of adults are specified, which enable better orientation in the text of the diploma thesis. The diploma thesis represents the possibilities of resocialization and re- education of persons from a disadvantaged environment, e.g. persons serving a prison sentence. The practical part of the thesis is focused on the processing and evaluation of the data obtained in the Existential Hagiotherapy course using semi-structured interviews with course participants and therapists, a description of the course and its practical use for the personal development of course participants. The empirical part summarizes the participants' expectations from the Existential Hagiotherapy course for their personal and professional development before completing the course, as well as the impact on their professional and personal life after a...

Tracing Microendolithic Ichnocenoses: A paleoecological and taphonomic approach over the Phanerozoic
Herenio Kerkhoff, Marta Leticia ; Holcová, Katarína (advisor) ; Skupien, Petr (referee) ; Soták, Ján (referee)
The microbial endoliths study from the Western Carpathians region was a semi-quantitative survey that included six sampling localities. Samples, ranging from Upper Oligocene to Miocene (Serravalian), came from three localities in Czechia (Mikulov, LOM-1 and Hevlín), two in Slovakia (DNV and LKŠ) and one place in Hungary (Tard Clays, Rozalia Quarry). The main goal of this project was to verify how different levels of hypoxia, established for studied intervals, would affect the microendolilthic assemblages present in tests of benthic foraminifera. Additionally, microbial activity and byproducts, and the overall interplay between bioerosion and bioprecipitation are also analysed. The degree of hypoxy was established using ratio of oxic/dysoxic and hypoxic foraminifera, defined as Benthic Foraminifera Oxygen Index (BFOi) Sampled index shows a predominance of dysoxic indicators, with rare oxic elements. Secondary electron elemental analysis (EDX) reveals a significant enrichment of sulphur, phosphorus and iron in biofilm samples from DNV and Hevlín, when compared to the rock matrix surrounding it. Resin casts reveal a predominance of Dysphotic to Deep Euphotic zones ichnocenosis, with a predominance of Chlorophyte, Rodophyte and heterotroph burrows. Few representatives of Cyanobacteria traces, such as...
Holocene shallow-water foraminiferal assemblages from Zanzibar
Česáková, Klára ; Holcová, Katarína (advisor) ; Chroustová, Markéta (referee)
This thesis builds on the project GAČR 23-05217S, prof. RNDr. Katarína Holcová, Ph.D.,The Fossil seagrass meadows- the neglected Phanerozoic ecosystem: its contribution to the shelf biodiversity and identification in the fossil record. This work consists of two parts, the compilation and the practical part. The compilation focuses on the Foraminifera, their morphology, history, and significance for science. Following the practical part, the shallow-water foraminifera from the tropical part of the Indian Ocean are presented here. In the practical part, I deal with the documentation and analysis of two samples taken from the west coast of the Unguja Island (Zanzibar) from the Zanzibar channel (5.9916858S, 39.1855394E). This locality is from the micropaleontological point of view poorly researched. The main outcome is taxonomical identification and subsequent interpretation of the paleoenvironment based on the determined species. Key words: Foraminifera, Zanzibar, Holocene, seagrass meadows
Biostratigraphical value of the Mediterranean planktic foraminifera.
Škrátek, Matej ; Holcová, Katarína (advisor) ; Kopecká, Jitka (referee)
The first part of the work deals with the general biology of planktonic foraminifera, shell morphology, and ecology. The following section concerns the middle Miocene period and its biostratigraphic division into biozones based on planktonic species in subtropical areas and the Mediterranean region. The next part includes a brief overview of chemostratigraphy using strontium and its use in dating. The practical section includes dating methods based on biostratigraphy and chemostratigraphy, and their subsequent use in dating samples from southern Spain. The final part summarizes the results of both methods and their interpretation.
Calcareous nannofossils assemblages for provenance analysis of European paintings: From the sample preparation to the assemblage comparison
Jaques, Victory Armida Janine ; Holcová, Katarína (advisor) ; Caruso, Francesco (referee) ; Oszczypko-Ciowes, Marta (referee)
This PhD thesis is a commentary of four studies published and a fifth study submitted in peer reviewed and impacted scientific journals. Three studies are methodological work for the preparation of painted micro-samples to improve the measurements accuracy, the samples visualisation, and the combination of measurements methods. The two other papers focus on the fossil assemblages determination and comparison between reference historical areas and original paintings. This work is divided into three main parts, namely the introduction, the methods, and the calcareous nannofossils assemblages. In the introduction, detailed explanations are given about the paintings, historical materials, trade roads, what are nannofossils, how and why to use them. In the methods section, developed preparatory methodologies are summarised, and the most important results are explained. In the third part, the nannofossils assemblages, the differences between the assemblages from different areas in Europe compared to original paintings are explained and correlated to the literature. The impact of the preparatory methods on the results is discussed, and a conclusion is drawn from it in the context of painted artefacts in the Cultural Heritage field are unique, and so are the micro-samples from them. To extract most...
