Title: Anticipation and cues for anticipation from the perspective of female tennis players Objectives: The objective of this thesis is to determine what anticipatory sources and cues elite female tennis players perceive and consider when receiving serves, and subsequently compare these findings with the research results among elite male tennis players. Methods: In this thesis, qualitative research was utilized, specifically a case study. The research involved eight former or current elite female tennis players who ranked between 5th and 169th place on the WTA ranking, aged 18 to 39. Seven out of eight of these players are still active, with one serving as a coach who ended her active career one year ago. The research employed a guided interview method with seven questions for active players and eight questions for the coaching subject. The interviews were structured to last between 20 to 50 minutes depending on the depth of responses. Players extensively discussed anticipation in tennis serving and its application to returning. The second part of the research involved transcribing the interviews, coding, analysis, and comparison with the studies by Reischlová (2020) and Vernon et al. (2018). Results: In the thesis, the individual themes were discussed and taken from the research of Reischl (2020)...

Jelínek, Martin ; Pravečková, Petra (advisor) ; Carboch, Jan (referee)
Title: Internal motivation of football players in the older preparatory category in comparison with selected football skills Aims: The main aim of the thesis was to investigate the association between the level of internal motivation and the level of soccer skills in the senior pre-school category, specifically in the senior pre-school age category, which is specified for the U10 and U11 categories in soccer. Another aim was to compare football skills between these categories. Furthermore, we examined the relationship between whether players have experience in other sports and football testing results. Other objectives were to introduce concepts such as motivation, soccer, individual game activities, younger school age or characteristics of a selected age category of older prep school players. Methods: To evaluate the internal motivation of tested players we used a standardized Sport motivation scale questionnaire from which we selected only questions related to internal motivation. To test the selected football skills, we constructed a test battery that included three different tests. Specifically, a test focusing on ball management, a test focusing on passing accuracy, and a final test that focused on shooting accuracy. Results: no significant statistical relationship was found between the level...

Vašíčková, Adéla ; Carboch, Jan (advisor) ; Kočíb, Tomáš (referee)
Title of the thesis: Selected somatic factors in elite male and female tennis players The goal of the thesis: The aim is to find out what trend - development tendency we observe in selected somatic factors of elite male and female tennis players in the period 2003-2023. The secondary aim is to find out what opinion tennis experts have on this issue. Method: To obtain the data, a mixed research consisting of quantitative and qualitative parts was chosen. The data in the quantitative part was processed based on descriptive statistics, as well as using regression analysis and statistical (ANOVA) and substantive significance (Cohen's d). Body height, weight and BMI were analyzed for males and body height for females. The qualitative part of the research was based on structured interviews with open- ended questions. Results: For the period between 2003-2023, the average body height for men was 187,8 cm and for women 175, 8 cm. The average body weight for men was 83,0 kg and BMI was 23,5. There was an increasing trend in the average bodyheight of men, with an increase of 5 cm when comparing 2003 and 2023. The average bodyweight of males has not show a significant upward trend but has instead decreased over the last five years to values comparable at the beginning of the period. The BMI of men has...

Hrychová, Denisa ; Carboch, Jan (advisor) ; Kočíb, Tomáš (referee)
Title: Kinematic analysis of the toss in relation to the success of serving in tennis Objectives: The aim of this master's thesis is to conduct a kinematic analysis of the toss, determine the impact the serve will have on the success of the first serve among competitive and recreational female players and compare these data with results of male serves obtained in the bachelor's thesis. Methods: To obtain the results, a method of indirect observation was used, during which video recordings were made of 8 competitive and 2 recreational female players. Each player executed a total of 40 first direct serves, and the partial videos were then analyzed using Dartfish 10 software. We observed the maximum point of the serve and the ball contact, and each serve was categorized as successful, net, out - on the side, or out - long. Data obtained from the video recordings were subsequently processed using effect size analysis (Cohen's d) and statistical significance (ANOVA). Results: Analysis of variance for repeated measures showed a statistically significant difference between individual serve categories on the Y-axis, i.e., maximum toss height, F (3,21) = 7.16, p = 0.002, ηš = 0.013. Post-hoc tests for pairwise comparisons revealed a significant difference in maximum toss height between serving into the net...

Statistical analysis of the influence of body height of ATP players on the success of their game
Nechanický, Michal ; Kočíb, Tomáš (advisor) ; Carboch, Jan (referee)
Title: Statistical analysis of the influence of body height of ATP players on the success of their game Objectives: The aim of my bachelor's thesis is to determine whether a player's body height affects his position in the ATP rankings and whether it affects the effectiveness of his serve. At the same time, I will investigate the possible influence of surfaces on player's serve statistics and his position in the ATP rankings. Methods: The mentioned monitoring was determined on a sample of TOP 200 players of the ATP ranking. Mathematical-statistical analysis of the data was carried out by collecting the data reported on the official ATP website. The results of my investigation were compared with similar characteristics of selected professional literature. Results: Mathematical-statistical analysis showed a loose correlation between a player's body height and his position in the ATP rankings. Furthermore, a stronger correlation was shown between serve statistics and ranking and between serve statistics and player height. This correlation changes with the type of surface, where the most closeness to the player's position in the ATP ranking or his body height is shown by the serve statistics of the player serving on a hard surface. Keywords: Tennis, body height, serve, surfaces, ATP
Perception training in tennis
Mrázová, Kristina ; Carboch, Jan (advisor) ; Malý, Tomáš (referee)
Title: Perception training in tennis Objectives: The main goal of this paper is to assess the impact of perceptual-cognitive training on the development of anticipatory skills in expert and novice tennis players. Methods: The result of this paper was obtained using an experiment based on the test-retest method. It is a randomized controlled trial in which the intervention groups underwent three weeks of perceptual-cognitive training in addition to the test and retest process. All parts of the experiment (test, perceptual training, retest) were based on watching edited video recordings of tennis serves using the temporal occlusion technique. The tracked variable in the experiment was the relative accuracy of responses. Results: In the intervention group of expert tennis players, a significant difference was reported between test and retest performance (p < 0.01; d = 1.05). No statistical significance was observed in the intervention group of tennis novices or in any of the control groups. Since the intervention and control groups of expert tennis players did not differ in the test stage, the observed increase in performance was attributed to the effect of applied perceptual-cognitive training. The statistically significant increase in relative accuracy of responses between test and retest occurred...
