Vaněk, Vojtěch ; Hlaváček, Ivan (advisor) ; Kejř, Jiří (referee) ; Krafl, Pavel (referee)
Chantry chapels by burghers in Kutná Hora in pre-Hussite period Vojtěch Vaněk This study is based on the social-historical understanding of the role of chantries and of liturgical memory in medieval society, as discussed especially by Otto G. Oexle and Michael Borgolte. Chantries as permanent pious gifts connected the world of the living with the world of the dead, kept the presence of the dead among the living and, simultaneously, contributed to the salvation of their souls through mutual solidarity between the living and the dead. This study also evaluates the insights of the new cultural history, which understands the endowments as symbolic capital in a given society, capital which enabled display of social status and legitimized power through ostentatious demonstration of devotion. Under the House of Luxembourg, Kutná Hora was one of the most populous towns in Bohemia and Moravia as well as one of the biggest centers of mining and processing of silver ore in Europe. 1280's saw the origins of mining there, the first decade of the 14th century saw the city's founding. Kutná Hora was the residence of the central mint in the Czech kingdom and of the royal offices related to the mint and mining. Abstrakt_anglicky The PhD thesis is focused on canon procedural law in Prague at the end of 14th century. The purpose is to prepare a critical edition and summary of the treatise Processus iudiciarius secundum stilum Pragensem and to contextualize it to iuridical and administrative connections in the period at the end of the 14th and beginning of the 15th centuries. The researched treatise was a very useful theoretical and practical vademecum of procedural law and was used not only by students of law at The University of Prague as a manual but also by archiepiscopal clerks, as well as plaintiffs and defendants in the single cases. The thesis consists of the biography of the author Nicolaus Puchnik, canon law analysis and commentary incl., local customs, manuscript analysis based on paleography and codicology, European context analysis based on the juristic style and, last but not least, the edition. The edition is composed of four manuscripts (Munich 677 as the basic text version and other three manuscripts originated in the 14th century).

Smrčka, Jakub ; Lášek, Jan Blahoslav (advisor) ; Herold, Vilém (referee) ; Kejř, Jiří (referee)
České reformní proudy 14. století a devotio moderna Die böhmischen Reformströmungen des 14.

Iconography in Ultraquist Theology
Bílková, Milena ; Holeton, David Ralph (advisor) ; Kejř, Jiří (referee) ; Čornej, Petr (referee)
Milena Bílková Ikonografie v utrakvistické teologii Iconography in Ultraquist Theology Utraquism, a Czech religious movement of 15th and 16th centuries, was characterized by a number of theological specifics which also found their reflection in the art of the Utraquist church. There are several particular motifs that enable us to speak about Utraquist iconography. These motifs include depictions of Jan Hus as a saint with his attributes the heretic's hat (originally a sign of degradation) and the stake. The lay chalice, the most visible theological feature of Utraquism, was depicted in various contexts and places, although its emphasis was not a rule. Other topics of Utraquist iconography are communion sub utraque to both infants and adults, the martyrdom of Jerome of Prague and the Martyrs of Kutná Hora, depictions of Žižka as well as pictorial antithesis of the "old" and "new" church.
