Dendrologické vyhodnocení vybraných porostů dřevin v mikroregionu Horňácko
Svoboda, Michael
This bachelor thesis deals with a dendrological survey of selected tree stands near the municipalities of the Horňácko micro-region. In a total of five selected stands, which differ in length, width and species composition, it maps the distribution of trees and shrubs, their species and their health condition. It also categorizes the species as introduced or invasive. It evaluates the possibility of natural regeneration and the functionality of the stands as ÚSES biocorridors. Finally, it suggests how to manage the stands to preserve their functionality.
Analýza spontánní sukcese na kalamitní holině vzniklé na územním pracovišti Stožec (Národní park Šumava)
Štětina, Pavel
Bachelor thesis deals with spontaneous succession on the calamity clear-cut area in the National Park Šumava. Two transects were created, which were divided into 10 m plots. One transect was 50 m in spruce stand, one continue through the 50 m long clear-cut area, and was terminated 50 m in dry stand. The second transect was the same, but the length of the clear-cut area was 110 m. On the plots were found out to be naturally regeneration and mature trees. According to the results, the positioning of the individual trees varies depending on their light requirements. The most natural regeneration was found in dry vegetation, except for light-emitting trees, whose center of gravity lies on the clear-cut area.
Přirozená obnova dubu zimního na LHC Městské lesy Ivančice
Lang, Dalibor
Aim of the work was to optimize regeneration process for successful natural regeneration of sessile oak in Městské lesy Ivančice (Ivančice Municipal Forests). Various regeneration scenarios of natural oak regeneration were methodically compared with natural regeneration in open space and under vegetation from the perspective of basic growth parameters. Natural regeneration was compared to artificial regeneration. The obtained data was evaluated using basic mathematic-statistical methods. Practical output of the work was a recommendation regarding the regeneration process and outline of the long-term development of the subsequent forest cover. Natural regeneration shadowed in open space grows faster and there is a higher number of individuals per hectare compared to artificial regeneration or natural regeneration under maternal vegetation.
Produkční potenciál a přirozená obnova břízy bělokoré na divizi VLS Plumlov (pracoviště Slavkov u Brna)
Pospíšil, Matěj
In this thesis I deal with prime information about Betula pendula. The topic this thesis is production potential and natural recovery of Betula pendula. In first part of this tesis I deal get information from adult forest, where is done basic research and information about forest, height differentiation of the qrowth, suplly of wood, number of species etc. Second part about natural recovery, is deal get information about growth new seedlings in young forest, where is target tree other species then Betula pendula, especially Fagus silvatica and Picea abies. Second part is deal measurement density of Betula pendula seedlings on hectare forest area, height diferentiation of this seedlings and dependence distance maternal forest and place of refinement. Result of this thesis is finding real supplies forest, relation between Betula pendula and other other species, when are in this economic foresters. Further will found, how much is Betula pendula abillity fill free places and for how long she can on this free places tahe a strong look with dependence on distance from maternal forest.
Overstory-understory neighborhood effect in mountain mixed forest
Matouš, Marek ; Bače, Radek (advisor) ; Ulbrichová, Iva (referee)
The object of this study is to describe overstory-understory neighbourhood effects in natural mountain mixed forests in environmental conditions of central Europe. Namely, the neighbourhood effect of European beech (Fagus sylvatica L.), silver fir (Abies alba Mill.) and Norway spruce (Picea abies [L.] Karst. ). The sample plots are situated in central Slovakia. On 60 plots, counts of individuals of these species were recorded and divided by social status (from 6 cm of DBH). Regeneration of these species, was divided into 4 high categories. For 30 trees of each species, regeneration was also counted under specific crown in the area of 4 m2. The data was evaluated mainly by the generalized linear model in R statistical program. Here was evaluated the relationship between individuals of different categories of understory and overstory and the dependence between counts of regeneration of each species under specific crown. The strongest positive overstory-understory neighbourhood effect, was observed for the silver fir in all categories of regeneration (p<0.001). It also weakly negatively affected the regeneration of beech. For spruce, the positive neighbourhood effect was demonstrated only among the trees of upper level and saplings from 0.5 to 1.3 meters. Other categories of spruce saplings, were in too small quantities for demonstrating these relationships. Positive overstory-understory neighbourhood effect of beech was weak, or neutral for advanced regeneration. But seedlings to 0,5 m height, were in minimum quantity under spruce and fir crown. Beech also significantly negatively influenced all regeneration categories of silver fir (p<0.001). So, for each species, the overstory-understory neighbourhood effect is more or less positive, at least for lower height regeneration categories. This effect suggest also to small scale species stability of these forests.

Stav dřevinné vegetace na vybraných lavinových polích v Krkonoších
Strnádková, Simona
This thesis focuses on the current situation of woody plants on selected avalanche tracks in the Giant Mountains (Krkonoše), the Czech Republic, namely the avalanche tracks no. 2 (Žlab Úpičky), no. 3 (Úpská rokle) and no. 27 (Navorská jáma). Specific areas were delimited in these locations to measure biometric characteristics and potential damages of live trees, assess the occurrence and type of rejuvenation and evaluate the volume of dead wood. The measured data were summarised in graphical and tabular form, including maps with delimited areas. The processing of results also involved a comparison of both locations and evaluation of formulated hypotheses. We found out that 30-50 % specimens in the above locations are damaged. The most frequently damaged part included the trunk and the most frequent type of damage was trunk bending or breaking.
Monitoring raných sukcesních stádií na plochách po velkoplošném rozpadu bučin
Valouch, Martin
This thessis deals with assessment of the actual state of an herb layer and regeneration in nature preservations Coufavá and Slunná. Both of nature preservations were affected large-scale wind disturbances. The survey was conducted in June and July 2013. There were totally performed 384 phytosocenological releves (162 in nature preserve Coufavá and 222 in nature preserve Slunná). Research was carried out on a regular grid 15 × 15 meters. There were 254 juvenile trees which were founded in nature preserve Coufavá and also 1891 juvenile trees were founded in nature preserve Slunná. In both of preservations browse didn't rise up 10 % from all regeneration. Most abundant tree species in nature preserve Coufavá were Fagus sylvatica. In nature preserve Slunná were most abundant Tilia sp. Strong clonal species dominated in disturbed desktop non-wood undergrowth in both of studied areas. In closed stand dominated typical forest species. Impatiens parviflora has abundant occurrence in both of biotopes. For both nature preserves was estimated future development and propose of solutions. Result of work should serve as a basis for optimizing the management plan for the said reservation.
Endangered tree species and their populations: a case study Dendrosicyos socotrana
Ali, Abdulwahab Saad Saeed
The study was performed on 24 localities throughout Socotra Island to approach the threatened tree species of Dendrosicyos socotrana (DS, Cucumber tree), its population and regeneration. 14 localities out of these localities contain DS individuals. This survey studied the land-cover classes of High Shrubland with Succulents, Low Croton-Jatropha Shrubland, Sparse Dwarf Shrubland, Wadies, Submontane Grassland, Submontane Shrubland, Frankincense Woodland, Dracaena Woodland, Urban land, Date Palm Plantation, and Frankincense Forest. Studied localities form an area of 96 square kilometres and 204 individuals have been found (excluding seedlings). The basic measurement of specimens had been taken (height, GBH, fertility and coordinates) as well as collected data about biotope site and regeneration. Regeneration occurred approximately on 36 % of all localities. Dendrosicyos socotrana could be fertile on height of 2 m. The estimation of total number of DS population on Socotra Island could be 8 113 individuals. It is conspicuously showing that High Shrubland with Succulents and Wadies are the best habitat for Dendrosicyos socotrana, the reason is that the northern-slopes and wadies protect Dendrosicyos socotrana from the strong monsoon wind in the Island. As for others land-cover, DS species prefers wind-protected locations. In conclusion the DS population are decreasing in whole Island and I am suggesting to seek for a solution for this unique species.
