Title: Influence of the frequency of compensatory exercises on muscle imbalances in kayakers of the student category Objectives: The aim of this thesis is to find out whether doubling the allocation of compensation training influences the occurrence of muscle imbalances. Methods: The method used was the functional muscle test according to Janda (2004). The testing was done during entry and exit diagnostics. The score was recorded in accordance with Janda's scales for his functional muscle tests for muscles with the tendency to weaken and the tendency to shorten. Two groups of kayakers were submitted to the testing, both in the student category. Both groups were subjected to the same training unit modeled on the basis of the results of the entry diagnostics, the difference being that one group was subjected once per week and the other twice per week. Results: The group exercising twice per week reached an improvement in the results of exit diagnostics on the Janda scale. The differences between the two groups were not statistically significant. Upper cross syndrome was improved in four out of five probands who had upper cross syndrome. Keywords: muscle imbalance, water sports, functional muscle test, compensation, exercise frequency
