Core banking systems

This diploma thesis deals with the topic of core banking systems. The main objective is to analyze the implementation of the SEPA payments into the payment module. The theoretical part defines the concept of core banking systems and its history. It also compares conventional approaches to core banking systems with Islamic ones. The theoretical part also includes chapters about implementation approaches, the most common challenges in implementation and architecture of core banking systems. Next part of thesis is about the basic modules of core banking systems. The practical part is about the analysis of requirements on core banking systems. Especially the requirements that are mandatory from legislation perspective. These are SEPA payments, PSD2 and instant payments. Gap analysis is used as the main method. We chose SEPA payment implemetation as the requirement that we will analyse. There are two possible solutions that can be used. The first one is the customization of the current payment module and the second solution is implementation of the payment hub. The conclusion of the thesis focuses on the best solution for each of two types of bank institutions. The main acquisition of the thesis is the recommended solution for two different types of banks. And second of all, the conclusions which was founded in this thesis should be used for another requirements such as PSD2, the introduction of instant payments, and more.

Cashless payment methods in e-shops and retail stores in the Czech Republic

This bachelor thesis brings description and evaluation of cashless payment methods used in eshops and retail stores in the Czech Republic. Particular methods are described and accompanied by graphic interpretation of the method. The aim of this thesis is to create a complete overview on this field. Thesis also focuses on the identification and description of the innovative trends in payments and check out process. The theoretical part of this thesis is focused on definition of bank payment, cashless payment methods available in eshops and retail stores in the Czech Republic. This part also contains its evaluation from the view of retailer and its customer. The practical part is dedicated to determination and hands-on review of current trends in the field of customer check out during the payment process. This part also includes questionnaire survey that discovers opinions on selected payment methods.

Bitcoin point-of-sale terminal software development

The bachelor thesis describes the software development process of a fully working system of Bitcoin point-of-sale terminals for retail merchants, enabling them to start accepting this cryptocurrency as a means of payment. Author compares his work with existing solutions and explains the necessary background theory of the underlying technologies and certain peculiarities stemming from them. In the following chapters of the thesis, this foundation is used to actually implement and describe the final working solution, which is targeting the Java language platform, Android operating system and Spring web application framework.

Electronic mobile payment methods

This thesis is dealt with a topic of mobile payments. Even though the mobile payment method is relatively new, it offers a great opportunity to become a common payment instrument in the future. Mobile and contactless technologies are developing constantly and their application in current payments is becoming increasingly popular. However, only time will show if customers are really ready to accept these methods in general. The goal of this work is to introduce the term "mobile payment" to the reader. Furthermore, it explains methods of mobile payments which are available today and the direction of their development. In the first part, there is a definition of the term "mobile payments" and their characteristics are described. The second part defines the methods of mobile payments and the third part deals with mobile payment models in the world. The final part contains an evaluation of the attached questionnaire, which investigates with the awareness and usage of mobile payment in public. The reader of this work should get a comprehensive view on the topic of mobile payments. The work should also provide important clues about possible solutions for mobile payments, their strengths and weaknesses. In addition to that the reader should learn information, which is necessary to assess whether or not he would use these advanced payment methods.
