MILITANT POVERTY OF MEDIOCRITY and/or INTERSTICIAL SPACE
Fojtík, Matej ; Jakšík, Petr (referee) ; Rozwalka, Szymon (advisor)
The thesis “MILITANT POVERTY OF MODIOCRITY AND/OR INTERSTITIAL SPACE” is a continuation of the overall theme Vector of poverty. The starting point for me were the ideas of the German philosopher of Korean origin Byung-Chul Han, presented in his book „Burnt-out Society”. In an attempt to find a space in the city that had not yet been affected by homogenizing tendencies, I set out to the area of Brno’s Cejl and Trnitá. This area has been shaped by the textile industry over the last centuries and is characterised by cultural and social diversity. The Jewish population, which was one of the main groups of local inhabitants until the Second World War, was served here for their spiritual needs by the Great Synagogue. It was burnt down on the day the Protectorate was declared and the land where it stood has been filled with emptiness for 85 years. This becomes the starting point for my architectural design. In the space I am designing I am trying to deal with the weight of this place in the context of the ideas of Zygmund Bauman, who writes about the Holocaust as an extreme outgrowth of modernist way of thinking. The site becomes an interstitial space, a space of otherness that also reflects my thoughts on the state of contemporary architecture.
Sheeting of Foundation Pit
Vodáček, Ondřej ; Chalmovský, Juraj (referee) ; Glisníková, Věra (advisor)
First part of the thesis talks about pit sheeting in general, including shafts and trenches as well as pits, however pits are the very main topic and therefore described in details. This part also discusses earth pressure and groundwater issues as applied loads, yet only marginally. Second part demonstrates a particular sheeting structure and its calculation. All presumptions are established here, including double-anchored sheet pile wall geometry, spoken earth pressure loads and groundwater loads plus heavy equipment load during a construction. The calculating process is shown using computer softwares (Plaxis 2D, GEO5) and also in a non-software way using just pen and paper. At the very end of thesis an ultimate limit state (ULS) of sheet piles is assessed, software and non-software results are compared to each other and discussed.
Price of pipeline on various parameters of construction work
Sofka, Filip ; Pobuda, Štefan (referee) ; Aigel, Petr (advisor)
Bachelor’s thesis deals with price of utilities in dependency on characteristics of carried work flows. Theoretical part is based on price calculation, budget ,utilities and water supply problematics. In practical part is defined alternative option of watter supply construction, with realistic example.

The influence of windthrow disturbance on soil characteristics in chosen river source areas of Šumava mountains
Halešová, Julie ; Šefrna, Luděk (advisor) ; Freyerová, Kateřina (referee)
The influence of windthrow disturbance on soil characteristics in chosen river source areas of Šumava mountains Abstract The aim of this thesis is to summarize informations about disturbance of development of the ecosystem or landscape. One of the many types of disturbances is windthrow, which can be seen in forests all around the world. The practical part of my work had its place in the Šumava National park, Rokytka basin, where changes in the physical and chemical characteristics of soil after windthrows were studied. Those characteristics are soil texture, soil reaction, colour and moisture. According to our results, there is a significant influence of windthrow on soil characteristics and also differences between pits and mounds. There is a clear impact on soil horizons too. A strong water retention can be expected due to the topmost peat horizon, which is not typical feature of lokal soil. Key words: disturbance, windthrow, soil, pit, mound.

Taxation in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Marković, Igor ; Klazar, Stanislav (advisor) ; Blažek, Petr (referee)
The tax system of any country is a central pillar of economic activity. With proper setting of fiscal policy, even the less efficient economy can flourish, while problematic tax system can negatively affect also the economic superpowers. This bachelor thesis analyses the tax system in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which has essentially a very complicated and confusing system. The work is divided into three chapters. In the first chapter, I generally characterize the tax system of the country, including the tax systems of entities, each with its independent tax system. In the second chapter I focus on the characteristics of direct and indirect taxes in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In the third chapter, I suggest potential improvements of the Bosnian tax system for the future. I also include brief comparison of the Czech taxation system to the Bosnian one.
