Architectural study of a stadium for track cycling - TJ FAVORIT Brno
Macíková, Želmíra ; Vostrejž, Dušan (referee) ; Šindlar, Jiljí (advisor)
The main topic of the master’s thesis is an architectural study of the velodrome in Brno, the Czech Republic. Nowadays, the existing stadium includes probably the oldest cycling track which is still in use in the whole Europe. Design deals with updating the old velodrome to current Olympic parametres and standards. The goal is to create a suitable, functional, and aesthetic space for athletes and passers-by and also to draw attention to cycling club TJ Favorit Brno, which has over 100-years tradition in the city. The new design keeps the existing 400-metre-long cycling track with its unique roof done by prof. arch. Lederer. Roof is extended above the track and the tribune, which forms the “genius loci“ of the Brno velodrome. A 250-metre-long track meeting the Olympic standards will be placed inside the longer track. Inside of it, there is space for various collective ball sports pitches. In the large oval, there is a multifunctional area, e.g., for a built track for bicross. The runways are at different height levels and are connected to the surrounding buildings. The main idea of the project is to cover the oval without pillars inside, thus keeping its genius loci. The structure of the roof above the main space is made of steel cables joining 3D steel structure above both the existing and new buildings near the straight parts of the track. Near the rounded parts of the track, the ropes are anchored into reinforced concrete walls. The supporting structure for membrane roof covering is made of carbon, which has excellent technical properties; due to its low weight, it is also used for the production of bicycles. The current building of the gymnasium and the main building of the TJ Favorit Brno cycling club, where there is a track cycling facility, will be preserved. They will be followed by outbuildings with facilities for the public, cycling athletes, a café, service, rental and shop, administration and technology spaces. In front of the main entrance, there is a public space with greenery and a water feature welcoming passers-by. Designed buildings surround the current stadium on three sides. Buildings mostly have two storeys.
Diaphragm pump
Veselý, Přemysl ; Dobšáková, Lenka (referee) ; Pochylý, František (advisor)
The central goal of this work is to optimize the performance of the diaphragm pump so that it is able to operate under the given conditions, which at this moment do not meet. In the first part of the thesis, a basic research was created about diaphragm pumps, their simple division, inclusion in positive displacement pumps and the history of their development. In the following chapter, their construction and the meaning of each part of the machine was described in detail. Furthermore, several basic CFD calculations were carried out with the aim of locating the places with the greatest hydraulic losses. These analytical calculations were subsequently compared with practical experiments, from which the intention was derived. In the next point, based on these facts, several final adjustments were made with the aim of optimizing the performance of the entire system. After that, these design measures were further investigated and evaluated.
New types of membranes for electrolyzer hydrogen - oxygen
Hýbl, Jiří ; Sedlaříková, Marie (referee) ; Kunovjánek, Miroslav (advisor)
This work deals with the production of hydrogen and oxygen by electrolysis. Aims of this thesis are to measure different types of membranes and choose the best for use in elektrolyzer for hydrogen and oxygen production. Properties of membranes were tested in the laboratory electrolyzer in the short and long operation. The emerging gases from elektrolyzer were also tested on a gas chromatograph to determine the purity of produced hydrogen. At the same time are also tested different concentrations of KOH elektrolyte and the effect of concentrations on efficiency of electrolyzer.
Favorit Brno / cycling stadium - bicross track / architectural study - design / stage 2021/22
Salajová, Barbara ; Hrabec, Josef (referee) ; Šindlar, Jiljí (advisor)
The assignment of the diploma thesis was preceded by the course NGA056 Specialized studio on the topic Architectural study of the cycling stadium of the Favorit Brno sports organization. The result of this pre-diploma project was the evaluation of the current condition of the velodrome and the creation of an option for its possible modification or demolition. The diploma thesis is a continuation of the previous project and in the form of a study it elaborates a proposal for a new building of the cycling stadium of the Favorit Brno sports organization. The newly designed velodrome responds to the current requirements of track cycling, such as the length of the track (250 m), the track material, the roofing of the building, and it also takes care to meet all the needs of athletes and visitors. The building is situated on the site of the original velodrome in Brno-Pisárky.
Progressive methods for waste water treatment
Doležalová, Adéla ; Konečná, Eva (referee) ; Vondra, Marek (advisor)
This bachelor thesis contains a description of progressive separation methods for wastewater treatment. It deals with the basic principles of separation methods, including membrane processes, sonolysis, ozonization, photolysis and photocoalysis. Their strengths and weaknesses are also described. Part of the thesis is also evaluation and comparison of individual technologies with regard to their practical applicability.
Study of diaphragm pump with linear motor
Čejka, Pavel ; Uttendorfský, Petr (referee) ; Pochylý, František (advisor)
The diploma thesis is aimed at the constructional design of diaphragm pumps with a linear motor. This pump is supposed to be used in medicine for pumping the blood or as an artificial heart. The basic facts, which are focused on the function of the heart and artificial heart, are mentioned in the first parts of the thesis. The next parts describe the diaphragm pumps and the constructional ways of their diaphragm fixation. Furthermore, the basic calculations, describing the function of the pump, are derived there. The basic parameters of the pump are also calculated. The thesis also contains the description of the body pump construction, whose working room is optimized by CFD calculation before the pump is manufactured. The final part of the thesis is concentrated on the measurement evaluation of produced pump model.
Problems of aeration dimensioning at WWTP´s.
Šplíchal, David ; Sousedík, Milan (referee) ; Hlavínek, Petr (advisor)
The objective of this work is to compare aeration systems of primarily mechanical and pneumatic aeration, as well as to compare various manufacturers of aeration components in terms of their advantages, positioning in aeration tanks, operation, use, efficiency and energy requirements. The second part is a description of the waste water treatment plant in the town of Česká Třebová and the development of an alternative calculation for the biological part with circulation activation, a circular sedimentation tank and a design for an aeration system in the aeration tank.
Fabrication of SiO2 by anisotropic etching of silicon
Balajka, Jan ; Kolíbal, Miroslav (referee) ; Urbánek, Michal (advisor)
The aim of the bachelor's thesis is the fabrication of silicon dioxide (SiO2) membranes on silicon (Si) substrate by anisotropic etching of silicon. Masks for anisotropic silicon etching were prepared by electron beam litography and SiO2 wet etching. Individual steps of membrane fabrication are described, including used experimental conditions. In order to optimize the fabrication process, etch rates of Si/SiO2 in several solutions were measured. Results of the measurements are included in the thesis. Fabricated membranes were characterised by optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and spectroscopic reflectometry. Methods used for fabrication and analysis of defined structures created by anisotropic silicon etching are briefly summarized.
Optical Method to Evaluate the Contractile Function of Isolated Cardiac Myocytes
Kopečný, Josef ; Harabiš, Vratislav (referee) ; Čmiel, Vratislav (advisor)
In this master´s thesis we will firstly focused on the description of a cyte in terms of structure as well as in terms of electrical and chemical processes. We will examine a processes, which make a contraction and the processes on cyte membrane. We will also analyse image processing methods and methods for measuring the contraction. The block diagram will be designed and requirements for the measuring platform will be specified. The programme will be realized in LabWIEV programming language.
