Spatial aspects of retail development in Russia during the transformation period and the latest trends Abstract The aim of this thesis is to analyze and evaluate the retail development in Russia during the transformation period with a special focus on retail chains in Russia. What regions they focus on, how their expansion took place and whether there is a difference in expansion strategy between Russian and foreign retail chains. These are among the key research areas of this thesis. The top 6 retail chains in Russia have been selected as these represent several types of expansion strategy. The analyzed characteristics of retail chains are: the city and time of establishment in Russia, revenue, number and types of stores, region of presence including region with the biggest concentration of stores, etc. Methods of comparison and mapping are used in the analytical part of this thesis. The results show that the biggest concentration of retail chains, both of Russian and foreign origin, is in the Central Federal District. Foreign retailers prefer to start their business with a focus on the bigger Russian cities, whereas Russian retailers are trying to expand as much as possible throughout all Russian territory and may not always start business in the larger agglomerations in the Central Federal District. Private Labels in Retail

This bachelor thesis deals with problematics of private labels on the Czech market and mainly how are these labels perceived among consumers. Primary is focused on private labels of chosen retail chains in the territory of the Czech republic. The main objective of this thesis is to evaluate how retail private labels are positioned on the market, why are customers searching for them and possibly why they might be rejected. The theoretical part defines essential terms and characterizes range of goods sell by chosen retail stores. The practical part is composed of the research how consumers perceive retail private labels, and research of producers supplying retailers with animal products private labels. This is followed by recommendations to retail chains.
Gluten-free market

The bachelor thesis applies to the sale of gluten-free foods in retail market with an emphasis on retail chains. The first chapter deals with characteristics of gluten-free foods and the increased interest in these foods in recent years. The second chapter describes the retail markets in the Czech Republic and Germany with a focus on retail chains and compares these markets. The third chapter deals with the supply of gluten-free food in these countries and compares this supply. The fourth chapter is dedicated to my own research based on a questionnaire survey among consumers.

Consumer culture of social classes in terms of food purchasing and consumption habits Monika Novotná Abstract This work deals with historical and sociological view on the issue of grocery obtaining and consumption between the end of World War II to the present. Grocery obtaining and consumption is understood as a symbolic expression of social status in society. The work is divided into two parts. Theoretical-historical part examines how food consumption is linked to changes of social stratification. Research part of thesis builds on the theme of food consumption by examining the shopping habits in relation to social class. The main question of theoretical-historical part is whether and how food consumption, relates to social differentiation. Trend of convergence of differences in consumption and rate of consumption stratification of social classes are monitored in time series in two eras - the communist period and the period after 1989. For both periods, a secondary analysis of historical data on the consumption of specific types of food that aims to detect differences or similar trends between social classes. Oligopolistic Competition among companies in the Czech Economy

This diploma thesis is about oligopolistic competition of major retail chain operating on czech market in the food retail sector. Except mathematical prediction of the current retailers revenue-per-square meter growth, this work also mentions companies that decided to leave the Czech market for various reasons, like bad profits and wrongly determined business goals, change of strategy, etc. Main focus of this paper is the development of the retail sales market and examining if there is forming or already is, an oligopol with a dominant company. The market development is analysed based on freely available sources (published profits and annual reports). Total revenues of each retail chains are compared with details about disponible sales area and are displayed in graphs for better image; in the notes there are also details about individual acquisitions. Based on this development, the possible future development of revenue-per-square meter of sales area is mathematically derived.
Supply of a specific assortment of goods on the Czech and German retail market

This bachelors thesis is concerned with the supply of products with reduced lactose content and products with dairy substitutes in retail chains operating on the Czech and German markets. The objective is to assess the extent of the physical accessibility of this assortment of goods and its availability at different price levels in both countries. The thesis is divided into two sections. The first section is theoretical. It defines the consumers of lactose-reduced dairy products and non-dairy products with regards to their needs and requirements as to this range of products and includes an estimate of the size of this market segment. Market segmentation theory with a focus on segmentation variables, legislative regulations concerning the specified range of products and producers and brands acting on both markets are also summarised. Section two follows the first section with an overview of the field research conducted of select shops from both markets. The products and their prices are observed and shops are evaluated based on their fulfilment of the set consumption basket, the number of products available, and labeling in shops. Price analysis is concerned with the prices of select types of products from both markets. The supply of the specific assortment of goods on both markets and the position of Czech and German consumers is assessed on this basis and lastly, market opportunities for this range of products are stated.
Consumer behaviour in retail chains in the Czech Republic.

The bachelor thesis is aimed at consumer behaviour in the largest retail chains in the Czech Republic. It is the main aim of the thesis to evaluate customers' opinions and the dependence of purchases based on the opinions. Besides that, the thesis focuses on corporate social responsibility of these retail chains and how they are perceived by the customers. In the first chapter, market research and consumer behaviour are described and explained. The retail chains and the atmosphere of the retail market in the Czech Republic are described in the second chapter. The last chapter deals with the research itself, and the customers' opinions on the issues mentioned above are evaluated.

This bachelor thesis is dealing with the position of private labels on the Czech food market. It also investigates the relationship of the consumer to this market. The main goal of this thesis is to discover preferences of the consumers on the Czech food market and to define the end segment of private label buyers. The first part of this thesis is theoretical and deals with consumers behaviour, decision making process and private labels. The second part is practical, where the final research is performed. There are final conclusions about the Czech consumers preferences deduced on the basis of the research.

The thesis brings sufficient baseline whether to enter the market and how to be successful there.
Trends in retail private labels development

The aim of diploma thesis is to find out what are the current trends in retail market in the Czech Republic with the focus on private labels. Private labels are very common especially on the retail market of the United States of America and european retail market as well. In my thesis I concentrate especially on the distribution channels hypermarkets, supermarkets and discounter stores even though private labels are present as well in traditional trade and in retail chains specialised in drug. Private labels are present in various segments of retail, food, drug and other fast moving consumer goods. My focus is on the development of private labels in the segment of food and drug goods.
