Strain and stress analysis of the femur with distraction intramedullary nail
Konvalinka, Jan ; Marcián, Petr (referee) ; Florian, Zdeněk (advisor)
This master's thesis is focused on determination and analysis of stress and strain in femur with distraction intramedullary nail for treating leg length discrepancy with the method of distraction osteogenesis. Thesis is mainly focused on states after distraction when the callus consolidates. Problem of determining stress and strain is solved by computational modeling using FEM. Detailed description of modeling is included in this thesis, complicated 3D geometry of bone was acquired from segmentation of CT images. Computational model is solve with 4 different types of callus geometry and also material properties of callus are varied. The influence on stress and strain when the middle distal screw is not applied is also analyzed.
The problem of unequal length of the lower limbs in children during the growth period
Příkazká, Tereza ; Nováková, Tereza (advisor) ; Stupková, Michaela (referee)
Title: The problem of unequal length of the lower limbs in children during the growth period. Objectives: Due to the comprehensiveness of the topic, part of this diploma thesis is a more detailed mapping of the issue in the context of etiopathogenetic changes of the femur and hip joint. It is an effort to draw attention to the relevance of adequately chosen treatment management and all contexts that may contribute to the resulting asymmetry and progression of changes. The research part tends to the three specifics of the selected research groups, where the analysis of correctly selected aspects is carried out with the aim of whether the generalization proves the manifestation of some researched aspect, such as gender or disability. One of the sub-goals was to find out whether the length asymmetry is reflected in the morphological changes that are part of the X-ray images of pediatric patients and whether it can help create the risk of secondary degenerative changes. The investigated groups were represented by patients of the pediatric orthopedic department of the Bulovka University Hospital with diagnoses of Legg-Calvé-Perthes morbus, coxa vara adolescentinum and limb length discrepancy - acquired. Methods: Using the program Microsoft - Excel 2016, descriptive analysis and data processing of the...
Scoliotic posture in children aged 11-15 years from the perspective of the physiotherapist . Subtitle: Floorball as a possible cause.

Title: Scoliotic posture in children aged 11-15 years from the perspective of the physiotherapist Subtitle: Floorball as a possible cause Abstract: The thesis consists of a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part provides an overview of this functional disorder among the causes of which are leg length discrepancy, incorrect sitting habit, one-sided sport, the burden of school bags and insufficient physical activity of children and youth. The theoretical part also contains an overview of preventative and possible corrective measures for this type of incorrect posture. The practical part consists of three case studies of children aged 11-15 years (1 girl, 2 boys) who play floorball three times a week and suffer of scoliotic posture. Each case study contains a thorough initial and final kinesiological examination, proposes an individual therapy plan and describes its execution. The therapies lasted for 8 weeks and focused on stretching of contracted muscle groups, flatfoot treatment and strengthening of deep core stability muscles. The results were used to create a set of suitable compensatory exercises which will be included as part of every training of youth in a Prague floorball team in order to reduce the number of cases of incorrect posture among these young players. The purpose of the...
