Residential Complex in Brno - Komín
Budík, Štěpán ; Gale, Roman (referee) ; Marek, Jiří (advisor)
Assignment was to create an architectonic solution of residential complex in city district Brno – Komín, between streets Pastviny, Houškova and Uhlířova. Affected area of approximately 20,482.5 m2 is currently used as private gardens. Architectonic solution is based on east-west orientation and vertical terrain configuration of the area. Design of rectangular composition of four structures containing two to three-story residential buildings created four “nests” labeled A, B, C and D. Each “nest” contains 16 or 20 flats with underground parking solution. “Nests” seemingly create closed space, however simple rectangular masses of individual buildings raising from the structure of underground garages and terrain are situated shifted to each other to ensure the quality of housing, enough light and sun shine and not-disturbing parking capacity. Meanwhile visual and pedestrian permeability of the area were maintain to respect public, semi-public and private spaces. Construction of the residential complex is connected to public utilities and transport infrastructure through street Uhlířova. Design of the structures respect surrounding buildings and also public environmental areas.
Low-rise residental buildings
Spurná, Tereza ; Jacková, Eva (referee) ; Sátora, Josef (advisor) ; Mohelníková, Jitka (advisor)
Bachelor‘s thesis solves architectonic design of a complex which is composed of three low-floor residential buildings. There are flats of classical and maisonette type. Main part of work is focused on buildings project documentation. Apartment houses are located in Brno Sadová with unique south view of city skyline. The layout plan of new buildings is designed to define semi-public area. This creates quiet pleasant place for residents of adjacent houses. Every single building is clearly functionally separated to part residential and comunication. This division shows used facade material too.
Biblioverse - Multifunctional building with library

Reakce sýkory koňadry \kur{(Parus major)} a sýkory modřinky \kur{(Cyanistes caeruleus)} na konspecifické a heterospecifické varovné hlasy v hnízdním kontextu
DAVÍDKOVÁ, Marika
The following work contains an analysis of behavioural responses of Eurasian blue tits (Cyanistes caeruleus) and Great tits (Parus major) to heterospecific and conspecific alarm calls of Eurasian blue tit, Great tit, and alopatric Black-capped Chickadee (Poecile atricapillus) and Varied Tit (Sittiparus varius). Song of Eurasian blackcap (Sylvia atricapilla) was used as a baseline stimulus. I recorded and analyzed the following types of behaviour: the presence in the nearby surrondings of the nestbox, alarm calling, song and other calls.
The role of partial incubation in birds
Březinová, Monika ; Javůrková, Veronika (advisor) ; Sedláček, Ondřej (referee)
It was documented that many species of birds incubate their clutch before the clutch completion. This behaviour called partial or intermittent incubation usually takes only few hours per day. Eggs in clutch are from the time of laying until the time of full incubation exposed to many negative environmental factors and disturbances. These factors may reduce the viability of the embryo and brood survival. It is therefore predicted that birds use partial incubation as a protection against these negative factors. Most probable functions of partial incubation are a protection against clutch predation, intraspecific and interspecific brood parasitism, and antimicrobial actions linked with reduction of potentially harmful microorganisms on the eggshells and/or activation of proteins with antimicrobial potential in egg's yolk and albumen. This bachelor thesis summarizes overall knowledge of partial incubation, with special emphasis on its incidence and functions in birds. Moreover, this thesis reviews the problematics of synchronous and asynchronous hatching of partially incubated clutches. Although, based on literature review, partial incubation has strong impact on overall reproduction success in birds, study of this incubation behaviour is still neglected and more attention should be paid on comparative...
The influence of the nest ants Camponotus size on thermoregulation and loss of wood
Trägnerová, Jana ; Holuša, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Lukášová, Karolina (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with the loss of wood biomass as a result of infestation of trees with carpenter ants (Camponotus spp.) and also with the definition of nest thermoregulation. The study was carried out in the area of Czech-Saxon Switzerland National Park. The aim of the study was to find out the volume of infested wood with carpenter ants and the temperature inside their nests. The research itself was divided into two parts: the first part included measuring temperature in the nests, the second dealt with quantification of infested trees. In the first part of the research trees visibly infested with ants were chosen and temperature dataloggers installed. The data from the dataloggers were downloaded once in three months, in March, June and September. The observed trees were consequently felled and their trunks cut into logs about 20 centimeters long. In the second part of the diploma thesis a rectangle about 3 hectares big was marked out in a forest for the purpose of getting the number of infested trees. The data about healthy and damaged trees in the middle of each area and damaged trees near the way were collected. Altogether five areas were chosen in five forest departments. These were spruce groves more than 60 years older. The results show that temperatures were higher in the hollows inhabited by the ants than in the empty hollows. The volume of damaged parts of felled trees is little. It reached the values of 0,11-0,89 m3. The volume in spruce groves corresponds to this result and was also irrelevant. It was 0,93-7,9 m3. From the results of the research it is obvious that the negative effect of carpenter ants and its relation to the productive function of forests is often underestimated.
