Homoeroticism and Autoeroticism in modern prose

In the first part the thesis deals with the definition and characteristics of the time period of the turn of the 19th and 20th century and intends to show the change in the perception of world and man and their psyche in the context of the new sexuality concept. The second part focuses on homoeroticism in the sexology of that time and its position in contemporary literary science, particularly in the work of Thomas Mann. In the last part the analysis of the three literary texts - "Death in Venice" by Thomas Mann, " The Confusions of Young Torless" by Robert Musil and Arthur Schnitzler's "Fräulein Else"- appears in order to explain the function of abnormal sexuality, specifically homoeroticism and autoeroticism, in German prose of the 19th and 20th century.

Jewish Trilogy in Arnošt Lustig's Work

This bachelor thesis deals with three proses by Arnošt Lustig forming the Jewish Trilogy: Lea from Leeuwarden, Colette, the girl from Antwerp and Tanga from Hamburg. Lustig's characters are presented and their basic typology is determined. The focus is then moved to the female characters of the Jewish Trilogy. The thesis follows their development, characteristics and position among other author's female protagonists. In each story, development of basic narrative categories (the narrator, characters, time and space), recurring themes and use of language and style are discussed. The conclusion focuses on the mutual comparison of the books, and it also deals with the theme of eroticism and sex in Lustig's work. More details are also provided on author's life because his work is closely related with it. Nude through the lens of two male photographers and two female photographers: Jan Saudek, Robert Vano, Tereza of Davle, Michaela Brachtlová Presented diploma thesis deals with display of the female and male nude in photography from the perspective of four selected photographers, which are Jan Saudek, Robert Vano, Tereza of Davle and Michaela Brachtlová. This work is mainly focused on their photographic work, which is primarily focused on this photographic genre.The purpose of this work is to compare and evaluate the similarities and differences in the display of naked male and female body by the lens these men and women. I will focus on the issues of eroticism, vulgarity or influence a sexual orientation to above mentioned artists on their photographic work. The work will contain an interview with these artists and artist.

Cruel pleasure in the piece of the Marquis de Sade and his followers

The thesis is devoted to the work of the French writer and philosopher Donatien Alphonse François de Sade and three female 20th-century French novelists Laure, Pauline Réage and Jeanne de Berg, whose work draws inspiration from Sade's. In the first part of the thesis we focus on the Marquis de Sade. First, we recount the key events in Sade's adolescence and family life, his sexual indulgences and particularly his lengthy imprisonment, as these had profound influence on his work. Next we highlight the relevant historical incidents of his time and discuss the position of his work within the so- called libertin literary movement. Then we proceed to analyze the themes and motifs of Sade's three pivotal books: 120 Days of Sodom (Les Cent Vingt Journées de Sodome), Justine (Justine ou les Malheurs de la vertu), and Juliette (Histoire de Juliette). Our analysis points out a deeper philosophical message that can be found behind erotic themes of Sade's work. In the final sections we describe the fate of Sade's legacy in the 19th century and also his rehabilitation in the 20th century, when his writings have finally been critically studied and his collective works published.
