The role of civic and personal development education in the time of experimentation with personal and sexual identity

This diploma thesis deals with the issue of sexual and gender identity of children and adolescents. It researches the education of children and adolescents with a different gender identity from a philosophical, psychological and sociological point of view and further the role of teachers, parents and society as a whole. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part contains chapters devoted to education and upbringing of children and adolescents with a different gender identity, new perspective on gender identity and the support of individual trans. The practical part focuses on a study that examines the attitude of teachers, parents and students towards transgender issues. he aim of the practical part is to map the level of respect for differences from the point of view of teachers, parents and pupils at one secondary vocational school in a district town in the Central Bohemian Region, and further map the views from abroad of three secondary vocational schools. The research is designed as a quantitative- qualitative questionnaire survey at one secondary vocational school and as semi-structured interviews with a teacher, parent and pupil. Opinion of Students from the Field of Social Work at the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice about the Marriage of Same-sex Couples.

This bachelor thesis deals with a topic that is widely discussed in the population, namely the opinions of social work students on the issue of marriage of same-sex couples. The objectives of the bachelor thesis include determining the level of support among social work students and understanding their opinions on this issue. The thesis is divided into two parts: theoretical and practical. The theoretical part introduces the topic of the thesis, providing an overview of the issue and the various stages of the coming-out process. Additionally, it includes a description of the history of LGBT+ individuals and registered partnerships. The second part focuses on practical research into the opinions of social work students on the issue of same-sex marriage. A combined research approach was chosen for this part, utilizing both pilot study and quantitative research methods. The research sample for both studies consisted of social work students. In the pilot study, coding was used based on conducted interviews to answer predefined research questions and achieve the objectives of the thesis. In the second part of the quantitative research, results were analyzed, leading to the inconclusiveness of both hypotheses. The data revealed that individuals in the research sample hold positive views on same-sex marriage and actively support this union.
Transsexuality (ethical aspects of gender transitioning and role of social work in the process)

This thesis deals with the transgender phenomenon and in three chapters explores the ethical level of transitioning and the specifics of social work with transgender clientele. First chapter presents general insight into the topic and looks into the terminological difference between the terms gender and sex, transgender and transsexuality. After that it deals with aspects of the process of transition and also briefly describes the etiology of transgender identity, representation of trans individuals in the population and the phenomenon of minority stress. Second chapter of the thesis introduces the results of a research realised as a part of the work. The results are compiled into narrations of the participants transgender life stories. Third chapter sums up the ethical dilemmas related to the transitioning process, selected ethical dilemma taken from realised research is reflected through the optics of two ethical stances (deontology of I. Kant and utilitarianism of J. S. Mill). Closing part is designated for dealing with the specifics of social work with transgender clients and are presented competences needed for high-quality social work with the transgender target group.
Transition as a way to self-acceptance

This bachelor thesis deals with the issue of transition, in the social, medical, and legal spheres. It explores the lives of trans people from their first awareness of their gender identity, through coming out, hormone therapy and gender-affirming surgery. It traces the critical moments of transition and complications that arise during it. It also explores socially conditioned attitudes and negative social reception. The empirical part is developed using a qualitative strategy, in-depth interviews with people who have gone through the process of transition. It explores how trans people experience their transition, how the decision to transition is made, their satisfaction with their transition, and more. It also focuses on the reaction of the close people and surroundings and the subsequent impact on the trans person.
"We're here, we're queer, get used to it!" Representation of Particular Isssues of LGBT+ Community in TV Series after 2000

The diploma thesis focuses on selected specific issues that LGBTQ people (lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transsexuals, and other queer people) face due to their different non- heteronormative sexual and gender identities. Attention is paid specifically to issues of discrimination, stereotyping, partnership (marriage vs. registered partnership), parenthood, attributed promiscuity, and HIV / AIDS. The author focuses on fiction series broadcast between 2000 and 2021, which deals with queer topis and includes LGBTQ characters in the main or supporting roles, focusing on ways of depicting these characters and reflecting on selected issues they experience due to their identity. In foreign series such as Glee, Modern Family, Orange Is the New Black, Pose, Tales of the City, Sex Education, The Politician, It's a Sin and in the Czech series Ulice and MOST! the ways in which the series presents LGBTQ characters are analysed, in what discourse they are talked about and what effect these depictions may have on the majority heterosexual cisgender viewer. The thesis also provides an overview of the most common narrative archetypes of LGBTQ characters appearing in media production. These are also supplemented by examples of characters from the series of the last 20 years. Through a critical analysis of selected series and their reception, the author tries to point out the importance of portraying people with different sexual and gender identities and the influence of this television representation on the formation of opinions and attitudes towards LGBTQ people.
Coming Out in the life on a homosexual

This bachelor's thesis deals with the problematics of a coming out in the life of a homosexual. It contains definitions of homosexuality, related concepts and describes possible causes of homosexuality's origin. The thesis maps how was homosexuality perceived in the context of history and continues with the insight of how it is perceived in Czech Republic nowadays. It also contains the definition of coming out, its different types and presents specific problems of a coming out in different phases of life. Furthermore it deals with possible crisis situations that can arise based on a problematic outer coming out and maps the social work's tools that can help with tackling those situations.
