Life cycle assessment methods for BEV and PHEV batteries
Dvořák, Matouš ; Pokorný, Jan (referee) ; Fišer, Jan (advisor)
Electromobility is a current topic and a way to reduce the carbon footprint not only in personal transport. The operation of an electric car does not have a direct impact on emissions compared to an internal combustion engine car. However, the issue remains the production of the battery, which contains rare metals that are very energy and environmentally demanding to extract. The aim of this thesis is to analyse the energy consumption and emission footprint of the production of different types of batteries. The thesis includes a general introduction to the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) method, followed by a chapter on battery design and the classification of batteries according to electrode chemistry. The analysis of LCA studies of batteries shows that the least energy intensive battery in terms of production is the battery with NMC cathode and in terms of emissions it is the battery with LMO cathode. However, the results are strongly influenced by the input data, which are often different in LCA studies, so it is not possible to draw a clear conclusion. Part of the thesis deals with the analysis of the environmental impacts of battery production using different energy mixes and different types of production technologies. The work can serve as a basis for a more detailed investigation of the production part of the battery and for minimizing the environmental impact of this process.
Solid-state batteries in the automotive industry
Sechovec, Michal ; Otipka, Václav (referee) ; Rekem, Jakub (advisor)
The bachelor's thesis deals with the issue of traction batteries for electric vehicles. The work can be divided into two major parts: Li-ion batteries with liquid electrolyte and batteries with solid electrolyte. It describes the construction, from electrode materials through the electrolyte to the shapes of the cells and the overall battery pack. It also focuses on current developments and includes a summary of the most used electrode materials today. In the area of solid electrolyte, three groups of materials can be discussed. Prospective combinations of solid electrolytes and electrode materials are mentioned. Further research is necessary before any of the discussed concepts can be introduced to the market. Batteries with solid electrolyte are very promising due to their properties.
Concepts of electric vehicles drivetrain
Bede, Filip ; Píštěk, Václav (referee) ; Kučera, Ondřej (advisor)
This bachelor thesis focuses on a review, analysis and comparison of current electric vehicle drive concepts that form the basis for modern electric vehicles. For a better understanding of the composition and application of the concepts, the individual elements of the powertrain have also been discussed in detail in the thesis. The thesis starts with a brief overview of important milestones in the field of electric mobility. It then continues with a detailed discussion of the electric motors, batteries and gearboxes used. These are followed by drive concepts analysed in terms of their impact on the drivability and efficiency of electric vehicles. Examples of modern electric vehicles are then given to demonstrate the concepts in practice. Finally, current internal combustion engine drive concepts are also presented and compared with EV concepts, thus providing a comprehensive view of current trends in automotive technology.
E-bikes
Rynda, Vít ; Prokop, Aleš (referee) ; Řehák, Kamil (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the topic of electromobility, specifically the drive tract of electric bicycles or recumbent bicycles. The thesis focuses on the most essential parts of the traction system, which are the battery and the electric motor. It includes an analysis of the different concepts of the mutual arrangement of the power source and the electric motor of currently used electric bicycles. It also includes descriptions and characteristics of batteries, from past to present representatives. It also includes a brief description of the types of electric motors in use. The practical part involves working with software designed for modifying and configuring the control units of electric vehicles with a central electric motor. Several control unit settings are made, where each of them offers customized motor power limits, assistance levels and driving behaviour. The individual settings are tested under the same specific conditions and compared with each other. Finally, a possible ideal solution is proposed in the form of control unit value settings for the examined criteria.

Hybrid Drives in the Tractor Construction
Líčeník, Adam ; Řehák, Kamil (referee) ; Prokop, Aleš (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis utilizes survey of types hybrid propulsion systems in the tractor construction. It evaluates its operational advantages and disadvantages and presents examples of some tractors and its elements. The thesis focuses on components which are used in hybrid propulsion systems. In the conclusion there is a review of individual variations in terms of emission and economy of operation.
Battery monitoring and protection system
Hladík, Jan ; Červinka, Dalibor (referee) ; Knobloch, Jan (advisor)
This work deals with design of battery management system. Requirements for battery management system and its conception is discussed in the first part of the work. System is able to disconnect load or charger from battery using MOS-FET transistors. It measures battery cell's voltages and is capable of passive balancing. Microcontroller is used for data processing and system control. Schematics, printed circuit board layout and control algorithm was designed. Prototype of the battery management system was then manufactured and tested.
Draft mix for network independence
Horváth, Radovan ; Špiláček, Michal (referee) ; Pospíšil, Jiří (advisor)
The aim of this diploma thesis is the development of research on the topic of the draft mix for network independence. Next is the outline the various design solutions of the battery systems for accumulation electric energy and balance model energy supply system for the selected object. The practical part of diploma thesis deals with necessary resources and the size of batteries for autonomous operation during the summer months and also implements technical and economic studies aimed at finding cost-effective solutions. The work is divided into 6 chapters that contain 16 tables and 18 figures. Diploma thesis brings an option to configure a photovoltaic system and also describes the features, functions and the choice between the most used technologies. Evaluation of results of theoretical methods are described in the final part.
Lighthouse for maritime communication
Chadima, Jan ; Mašek, Pavel (referee) ; Pospíšil, Jan (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with design and construction of lighthouse model, which will be used for teachning. It describes types of naval signalizacion, which are established by organization IALE in decree E-110. In thesis is described Arduino platform, metods of 3D printing and used materials For model needs was designed printed circuit board with microcontroller ATmega328P, which control RGB LED. Program, which control model, was writed on Arduino platform. Program has nine modes of sea light comunication. It can change periode, color of LED, brightness and turning on power saving mode. The result of this work is a functional model of lighthouse powerd by battery. Model is based on Green Cape Lighthouse in Australia in scale 1:58.
