Aerodynamic design of the last stage of a steam turbine
Jeřábek, Lukáš ; Fiedler, Jan (referee) ; Kracík, Petr (advisor)
Diploma thesis deals with calculations of a steam turbine with two uncontrolled extraction points according to the assignment, aerodynamics of the last two stages and operating range with respect to ventilation, range of performance and straining of the last blading under the large condensation pressure deviations. For the first three stages the calculation of prismatic action blades is executed. The fourth and the fifth stages are designed with inconstant reaction over the blades length and their calculation is executed with constant circulation method. For these stages, aerofoil design with respect to their aerodynamic qualities is carried out using Bézier curves. During the whole time verification process of aerofoils qualities, their energy losses and isoentropic Mach number distribution is executed in MISES program in cooperation with Doosan Škoda Power.
The function of violence in films and its reception by journalists
Haugwitz, Daniel ; Štoll, Martin (advisor) ; Křemen, Pavel (referee)
Violence can be handled in a variety of ways across a wide variety of film genres and specific grasps of genres. The goal of this thesis is to explore the different functions of violence in films and then show how different is the acceptance of violence by Western film critics, ie journalists, in the same genre with similar motivations of the main characters, but with a slightly different approach of these characters to the use of violence. In the theoretical part I will describe the terms of review, criticism, film and at the same time the function of violence in films across genres. The practical part will then show how the concept of violence and its function may differ even within one larger genre, although the motivations of the main characters may sometimes be similar. Certain parallels as well as differences in the use and function of violence will be discussed on the example of selected scenes from two action film series Ip Man and Rambo. Subsequently, the reactions to the manifestations of violence by film critics will be analyzed and in the end it will be assessed whether the critics reacted to the processing of violence at all, how they reacted to it and what generally follows from the critics' approach to various possibilities on depicting violence. The partial goal of the thesis will...
Cube Fighter

Real-time strategy games and action games are two very different types of computer games. In my project, I attempted to see whether they could be combined to make a coherent whole, with mixed results. The backbone of my game is its real-time strategy mode, inspired by Warcraft III and The Battle for Middle-earth 1 and 2. In this mode, the player can create buildings and units and use them to fight the enemy. The game also has another mode of playing which imitates action games. In it, the player only controls a single unit. The second mode ended up being just a fun add-on instead of an essential part of the gameplay as I had originally intended. The reason behind that wasn't that it would be impossible to make it so, but rather that it would require my game to be far more complex.
