Adaptation of seniors when entering the residential service of a retirement home
FRANK, Jakub
The bachelor thesis deals with the issue of aging and adaptation of elderly people during the transition to a residential facility for the elderly. The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on the definition of terms, characteristics and problematic aspects related to ageing. In the following chapters, the thesis deals with the social environment, social care, highlights the goals and priorities of geriatric care, deals with the quality of life of the elderly and identifies factors affecting this quality, including preparation for old age. Emphasis is placed on the factors supporting the adaptation of seniors in residential services for the elderly and the possibilities of adaptation through activation activities. The aim of the study was to find out what factors help seniors in the adaptation process when entering a residential service home for the elderly and to what extent the adaptation process during the transition from the home environment to a home for the elderly affects the successful adaptation to the satisfaction of the elderly. In the research part, a quantitative research strategy conducted by interviewing technique is used. The main factors of adaptation are investigated when entering a residential service for the elderly home and their influence on the change in the elderly's behaviour as a result of the change in social environment and established habits is also examined. A 29 questionnaire is used to obtain information on the aforementioned factors, which was administered to 120 elderly home users. Based on the research, it was found that the factors influencing the adaptation process of seniors when entering a home for the elderly can be very diverse and depend on many aspects, including the individual personality traits of the elderly, the conditions and environment of the home for the elderly itself, as well as support from the family and social environment. This paper contributes to a better understanding of the adaptation process and provides suggestions on how to facilitate the adaptation process.
The need for intimacy of male patients 65+
BAMBÁSKOVÁ, Diana
This work focuses on the issue of intimacy among patients aged 65 and over in a hospital setting. The aim was to examine the specifics of intimacy needs, perceptions of intimacy maintenance, and healthcare professionals' approach to these needs. The theoretical part addressed definitions and delineations of basic concepts such as need, intimacy, human dignity, ethics, mandatory confidentiality, and patient rights. The empirical part was conducted through qualitative research, involving interviews with patients aged 65 and over and healthcare professionals. The results confirmed that men in this age group exhibit a high sensitivity to maintaining their privacy and dignity during hospitalization. They also showed a willingness to communicate with healthcare professionals about their intimacy needs. It was found that individual intimacy needs vary greatly and depend on patients' personal preferences, health status, and lifestyle. The conclusions underscore the importance of providing individualized care that respects these differences and highlight the need for further exploration of this issue.
Ethical aspects of individual planning with nursing home clients on issues of dying and death
PETROVÁ, Lucie
The thesis discusses the ethical aspects of individual planning with clients in a nursing home on the issues of dying and death. The aim is to open this topic up, describe and reflect on some ethical situations of individual planning with regard to the wishes and needs of clients at the end of life and their ideas of a good death. The thesis is divided into several parts. It describes old age, aging and the ethical challenges it brings. It discusses the importance of spirituality in old age. It describes dying as a process, its stages and their specific issues. The concept of a good death is introduced and what issues are related to it. It deals with a person's last wishes and individual planning in a nursing home. A conversation is introduced as a central method of communication between the elderly and the caregivers, the purpose of which is to find out the wishes and needs of the elderly as a basis for individual planning with regard to ideas of a good death. Phenomenological research is presented, providing insights on this topic from the perspective of social workers, workers in social services directly serving care and especially clients. The last part of the work contains recommendations for practice, summarizing important principles based on the presented literature and the conducted research.

Investigation of the properties of lime mortars for the renovation of historical building plasters
Kolouchová, Eliška ; Čihalík, Martin (referee) ; Rovnaníková, Pavla (advisor)
The theoretic part of this diploma thesis interprets historical procedures of lime mortar manufacturing and modern options for the historical lime plaster renovation. The experimental part of this diploma thesis aims for the comparison of physical-mechanic characteristic of lime mortar manufactured with different kinds of lime. The main goal is verifying of positive influence of using the aged lime mortar on its physical-mechanic characteristics.
Thermal degradation of alternative electrical insulating liquids
Vodička, Tomáš ; Kazelle, Jiří (referee) ; Frk, Martin (advisor)
This thesis deals with alternative thermal degradation of electrical insulating liquids. The theoretical part describes the current state of the problem, electrical insulating liquids, their classification and types. There are described properties of electrical insulating liquids, their models of aging and diagnostic methods in accordance with the appropriate standards. In the practical part are chosen by representatives of alternative electrical insulating liquids and there are determined their dielectric characteristics in the initial state. According to the measured values is chosen five candidates for which it is designed and implemented an accelerated degradation test. During the test are measured dielectric parameters of the selected oils. Measured dependencies are mathematically approximated. In conclusion, the results are compared and physically interpreted in view of oxidation stability.
Joint sealings of concrete pavements
Doseděl, Jan ; Hýzl, Petr (referee) ; Stehlík, Dušan (advisor)
The findings related to issues of joint sealings of concrete pavements are summarized in this bachelor thesis. The main part of this thesis deals with experimental testing of modified asphalt binder. This asphalt binder was tested at the beginning and at the end of fatigue. The samples of asphalt bitumen were tested by the method of ring and ball, determinativ of needle penetration, elastic recovery and resilince.
Recycling of bituminous binders by using recycling agents
Koudelka, Tomáš ; Komačka,, Jozef (referee) ; Dašek, Ondřej (referee) ; Varaus, Michal (advisor)
Increasing the content of Reclaimed Asphalt in hot asphalt mixtures is one of the current issues in road construction, to which society's attention is paid. The higher content of Reclaimed Asphalt brings higher technological demands not only for the production of asphalt mixture plants, but also for the handling of materials in general. The benefit for higher demands on asphalt mixture production is the subsequent reduction of the environmental burden associated with the construction of road infrastructure caused by the mining industry and use of natural resources. The dissertation is focused on studying recycling agents which are used in the production of asphalt mixtures containing Reclaimed Asphalt. Emphasis is put on comparing the properties of recycled binders with paving bitumen and binders from Reclaimed Asphalts whereas the effect of repeated recycling is taken into account. A large part of the thesis is devoted to the design of the optimal dosage of recycling agents. Certain findings were used to draw a methodology describing the design of dosing of these agents. At the same time, the properties and behaviour of the recycling agents themselves were evaluated.
