Kotas, Tereza ; Bartoňová, Miroslava (advisor) ; Hádková, Kateřina (referee)
The diploma thesis, which is presented here, is called Obstacles in the Education of Ukrainian Pupils in the 1st level in the Czech Elementary Schools. This work has a special pedagogical character as students with a different mother tongue fall into the category of students with special educational needs. The thesis generally aims to analyze and define the current possibilities of education of Ukrainian refugee pupils as pupils with a different mother tongue in the 1st grade of primary school from the point of view of pedagogues of the given two regions - Prague region and the Moravian-Silesian region, including the Ukrainian pupil and his/her legal representative. The theoretical part of the thesis defines the legislative framework of migration and the possibilities of education for pupils with a different mother tongue, including Ukrainian pupils. Furthermore, it brings closer the concept of the educational subject of mathematics in the 1st level of elementary school and the acquisition of the mathematics curriculum by the non- traditional Hejné method. The empirical part of the diploma thesis describes a separate research in which, by means of a mixed research investigation, the current possibilities of education of Ukrainian pupils in the 1st grade of elementary school are analyzed, including...
Social work with citizens from Ukraine who have temporary protection status in the Czech Republic
NOVÁKOVÁ, Marie
The bachelor thesis deals with the issue of social work with Ukrainian citizens who came to the Czech Republic after the outbreak of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. The thesis contains a theoretical and practical part. The first chapter of the theoretical part is devoted to the relations between Russia and Ukraine - it describes the situation after the independence of Ukraine and before the outbreak of the war in 2022. In the following chapters, the status of temporary protection, the characteristics of its users and the description of social work with refugees as a target group are presented. In this section, the needs of the target group, the principles of social work with refugee clients, the objectives of cooperation are introduced, and then the role of the social worker is defined, which should also be introduced to new clients with whom the worker establishes a relationship. The theoretical part is concluded with a chapter dealing directly with the social services that the target group can use with their status. The practical part of the thesis is devoted to research conducted with twelve Ukrainian refugees, which was carried out in cooperation with several institutions and services in České Budějovice. At the very beginning of the research, the issue of anonymity of the respondents proved to be crucial. Respondents often expressed concern that the answers would not be passed on to social service providers, for example, or could not be linked to the information they gave me - especially those expressing dissatisfaction or suggestions for improvement. Due to the specific nature of the research population, the specific names of organisations and service providers are not given in the thesis and a planned interview process was used with each respondent, particularly in terms of how responses were recorded. In particular, the research focused on whether and, if necessary, what social services this group of clients uses, whether they have sufficient awareness of their options in this area, what changes they would appreciate and what obstacles they most often encounter when cooperating with social services and during their everyday life.
Community centre for refugees from Ukraine
GAŽAROVÁ, Barbora
The thesis presents the Community centre "Spolu", which was established in response to the arrival of refugees from Ukraine as a result of the Russian aggression of February 2022. The thesis includes the historical context of the situation, the possibilities of assistance available in the Czech Republic, the definition of solidarity, ethics in social work and the ethical dilemma. The next section describes the creation of the community centre, highlighting three situations that were ethically ambiguous. They are therefore subsequently confronted with some of the ethical theories. The adaptation of the staff to the new situation is also examined in more detail, as the centre was established in an existing service with a different target group. Hence, the competencies of the staff in working with refugees are also addressed. The empirical findings come from qualitative research using methods of continuous observation and semi-structured interviews.

Barvík, Libor
This bachelor's thesis deals with the impact of the migration crisis on the Greek region of Attica, and consequently on Greek society as a whole. The thesis theoretically anchors migration, as well as its connection to regional development. At the same time, the course of the aforementioned migration crisis between 2010 and 2019 is described. At the same time, recommendations for managing migration crises within sustainable limits and recommendations for further possible analyses are provided.
Postoje obyvatel Jihomoravského kraje k ukrajinským uprchlíkům
Martini, David
The bachelor's thesis focuses on several factors that could (have the effect of) creating different, even divergent opinions, attitudes and priorities among the citizens of the South Moravian region through the war in Ukraine and Ukrainian refugees fleeing the war conflict. The theoretical part generally discusses the concept of migration, its history, types and causes. Furthermore, the thesis deals with the attitude of Europe and the Czech Republic towards migration. The thesis will outline its historical relations and attitudes with migrants from the Middle East, and whether attitudes have changed due to Ukrainian migrants. The main aim of the empirical part is to find out how the inhabitants of the South Moravian region view the migration wave, what was the reaction to the war and whether the attitude towards the war situation has changed after six months. The empirical part also includes four interviews that focused on the perception of refugees from their own experience or from the experience of migrants.
International legal protection of refugees persecuted for reasons of sexual orientation and gender identity
Bedaňová, Jana ; Lipovský, Milan (referee)
International Legal Protection of Refugees Persecuted for Reasons of Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity: A Critique of the Human Rights Approach Abstract This thesis examines the human rights approach to the interpretation of the definition of refugee by using the example of persons persecuted on the grounds of sexual orientation and/or gender identity (SOGI). The thesis focuses primarily on the European area and how a human rights approach to the interpretation of 'persecution' may be relevant to the practice of European Union states specifically in relation to SOGI refugees. The first part outlines the context of persecution of persons fors reasons of their SOGI. It examines the criteria by which SOGI is, and potentially can be, subsumed under the relevant grounds of persecution for refugee status. The second part outlines the different approaches to interpreting the concept of persecution and elaborates more on the so-called 'circumstantial' approach embodied by UNHCR. The third part is devoted to elucidating the doctrine of the human rights approach pioneered by James Hathaway and his book The Law of Refugee Status. The fourth part examines the approach of human rights monitoring mechanisms to failed asylum seekers fearing persecution on the grounds of SOGI. It analyses the decisions of the...
Integration of Immigrants from East and Middle East
JURAČKOVÁ, Andrea
The topic of my thesis is the integration of foreigners from the Middle East. I have chosen this topic because of my professional focus on working with foreigners and my personal interest in social work, both in public and non-profit organizations. The aim of my bachelor thesis is to find out how foreigners from the Middle East are integrated into the Czech Republic, and how social workers can help according to their subjective statements. Five participants completed the research, respondents representing different nationalities from the study region. With each of the respondents, I undertook an in-depth semi-structured interview. The study is divided into theoretical and practical parts. In the theoretical part, I focus on statistical data about foreigners in the Czech Republic, the situation of selected national and ethnic minorities, legislation related to foreigners, migration and integration questions, as well as social work in the field of integration of foreigners. The practical part focuses on the research investigation and presentation of the results. The collected data were analyzed using interpretative phenomenological analysis. The research shows that the length of stay and the situation at the time of arrival in the Czech Republic had a strong influence on the process of integration of all participants. All the respondents demonstrated their full integration into the individualistic principles of modern society, and they were mainly interested in a less bonded way of life. On the basis of the collected research results, it can be considered that all the informants have been living in our country for a relatively long time, and it is evident that assimilation is in progress. Their ability to adapt has been demonstrated not only in their rapid learning of the Czech language but also in their adaptation to the local culture and religious tolerance. The results of this work serve as feedback to help us better understand the situation of migrants after their arrival in a new country. The comparison of their fates and the goals achieved in their integration into Czech society provides valuable insights for those interested in the issue of the integration of foreigners.
