Last but not least, that the most strongest stressor for student are time demands. Lastly, the research also makes recommendations for universities, specifically to...
Feasibility study pumped storage hydropower plant in a particular locality
Vaněk, Michal ; Štigler, Jaroslav (referee) ; Hudec, Martin (advisor)
Electric energy storage represents an area, which needs to be further developed in order to accommodate more installed capacity of wind and solar power plants in the electric grids. Pumped hydro energy storage still remains ahead of other storage technologies in terms of achievable storage capacity. However, environment protection which is one of the obstacles for further PHES development in Europe causes significant reduction of suitable sites. It is therefore useful to examine also those sites, which seem to be less favourable for PHES at the first glance. This thesis deals with a feasibility study of a PHES on place of a former graphite surface mine. The thesis includes computation of basic capacities, choice of a suitable machine arrangement and introduction into PHES feasibility issues in electric grids. Two possible solutions of a smaller PHES that differ in their capacities were suggested based on available materials about the site as well as on available materials from Francis pump turbine model research. In case of both solutions a binary machine set is used and the available capacities are in small tens of megawatts. However, there is a wide head variation at the site, which causes significant power variation. Concerning the feasibility of the PHES, it is very uncertain that the participation in the day-ahead electricity market, would provide enough revenue to cover operation and capital costs. A following economic analysis investigating the capital costs of this particular PHES would be beneficial, as well as more detailed design of the reservoirs.

Role of Czech NPP within grid power regulation
Kostečka, Jan ; Martinec, Jiří (referee) ; Katovský, Karel (advisor)
The aim of the Bachelor’s thesis is the involvement of Czech nuclear power plants in the Czech energy networks, but also in the European Network and their adaptation. Effect of expansion of renewable electrical energy produces the asymmetry in the network and places formed with an excess of electrical energy and places with lack of electrical energy. Flows of electric energy can affect the security and safety of distribution lines. Excessive overloading can cause them to collapse. Therefore, this work is focused on solutions and avoids this problem and minimizes this potential damage. However, the impact of energy revolution has a giant proportion about these overflows network energy. Uncontrollable wind and solar power source may create regionally region surge and flow of this energy goes to areas with shortages of electrical power. The regulation has an impact on fuel. This renegade production could extend fuel cycle, or expand the campaign to more years at least a year. The calculations can show the amount of fuel that can still be used, and thereby increase the yield and economic benefit conditions for extending the life of the reactor units.

Nuclear Power Plant Dukovany Tasks within an Electricity Grid of the Czech Republic
Prokop, Ondřej ; Řež,, Martina Malá, Centrum výzkumu (referee) ; Katovský, Karel (advisor)
The aim of the Bachelor’s thesis is to describe the role of The Nuclear Power Plant Dukovany (Dukovany NPP) in the Czech electricity grid. Increasing of the production of electricity from renewable energy sources in the electricity grid causes more frequently compliance of N-1 criterion and it decrease the reliability of the electricity grid. The risk of Blackout increases, which would cause large economic losses and danger to the life of human beings. Therefore, reliable, good controllable and safety sources of electricity are very important. The first part of the thesis describes the role of Dukovany NPP in the process of regulation of basic electrical parameters during the normal operation of electricity grid. The second part of the thesis deals with states and the function of Dukovany NPP after full or partial disintegration of the electricity grid. Final part analyzes the importance of Dukovany NPP in Czech electricity grid and future development Dukovany NPP with possibility of the construction of new nuclear units after the end of the operation in 2035. The Dukovany NPP is an important regulator of the reactive power. There isn’t other power plant in the southeastern part of the Czech Republic, which could significantly control reactive power. The power from Dukovany NPP, which is provided on ancillary services controlling the real power and frequency has been increasing in recent years. This is due to the increasing production of renewable sources. Units switch to island operation after partial disintegration of electricity grid. If frequency exceeds the limit, the units will switch to it is own consumption. In this stage of operation at own consumption can Dukovany NPP operated without the time limit. Dukovany NPP may participate in restoring the electricity grid, based on dispatch control instruct. If switching to own consumption is not successful and back up sources and emergency’s dieselgenerator are unavailable, the power supply has to be restored as soon as possible. There are six independent solutions to restore the power supply. Next option of restore power supply will be the AAC network after the completion of construction in 2014. The AAC network will be resistant to the extreme weather and will be place it in the area of the power station, thereby Dukovany NPP will be more independent on external network.
