Knowledge management and knowledge base

The theme of this diploma thesis is Knowledge Management that is becoming the focus of business companies. The theoretical part of the work is divided into several chapters that discuss the basic principles of Knowledge Management. The aim of this work is to describe the principle of knowledge management and create a basic draft of the knowledge base for the KPMG company. In the introductory part of the work, terms commonly used in knowledge management are explained. Further, the knowledge capital of the company, types of knowledge management and the related knowledge strategies are described. Second half of the theoretical part concerns the responsibilities, tasks and roles in knowledge management. The last chapters of the theoretical part describe the individual phases of knowledge management introduction in a company. The practical part of this thesis is focused at analysis of KPMG company knowledge management and design of a knowledge base that can substantially reduce the time necessary for completion of certain deliverables. The chapter concerns mainly with description of the system architecture of the knowledge base, that the author has designed for the KPMG company.
Patent pools

Patent pools are agreements between patent holders to license their rights to central entity and then to sale these licenses to third parties. In the Czech Republic there is no such cooperation between firms. In this thesis I would like to describe this phenomenon to Czech public and firms. The othel goal is to find out if this cooperation is efficient.
Society for the Protection of the Rights of Music Authors and Publishers - Honest Guardian of Property Rights or just a Lawful Monopoly on Collection of Money?

The work deals with the role of OSA (Society for the Protection of the Rights of Music Authors and Publishers). It examines the perception of intellectual property from the theoretical point of view with respect to its practical implication and the Copyright Law. The work use the thought of Law and Economics and thoughts of those who stand opposite its view of intellectual property. It attempts to evaluate the activity of OSA in terms of the efficiency, justice and transparency. By analyzing the Copyright Law it shows it's consequences for authors and users of music works. The identification of interest groups results from studying the mechanisms of OSA's incidence. The work tries to observe the principles of cash flow in OSA. On the basis of the analyses mentioned above the work criticizes the contemporary system of protecting copyrights as unsatisfactory. Some aspects of new possible alternatives are proposed and beginnings of new approaches to intellectual property in practical life are shown.

First section is deseribing virtual market typology including business models and methods. In the second section there is designed new business model with special kind of commodity. Threre is also desribed how to enter market with new business model with appropriated strategy and how this new business model can cooperate with academic sphere.
Ekonomická analýza trhu s nelegálním softwarem

Práce se zabývá trhem s nelegálním softwarem. Dokazuje, že se i přes na první pohled nulovou cenu skutečně jedná o trh, analyzuje jeho poptávkovou i nabídkovou stranu a poskytuje srovnání s trhem s legálním softwarem. Dále je v práci uveden vzorec pro výpočet ceny nelegálního softwaru a proveden výpočet v rámci České republiky a analyzovány hlavní příčiny softwarového pirátství. Míra pirátství je určena hlavně cenou legálního softwaru a výší průměrné mzdy. Práce se zaměřuje na intelektuální vlastnictví jako na prvek zasahující do svobodného fungování trhu. Práce poskytuje informace o vývoji softwarového pirátství v rámci celého světa, včetně historického vývoje softwarového pirátství a dále odhaduje budoucí vývoj míry softwarového pirátství v rámci České republiky. Ten je odhadován pro rok 2011 na hodnotu 30%, čímž je prokázána jeho klesající tendence.
