Extension of the tmt Tool for Reporting through the ReportPortal API

This Bachelor’s thesis provides insight into testing processes practiced across teams at Red Hat and describes a new testing infrastructure proposed to improve testing workflow within the company. With this infrastructure serving as the main motivation for the assignment, the work targets several use cases of report functionality resulting from the integration of the Test Management Tool commonly known as tmt and the reporting platform ReportPortal. It examines both of these tools, analyses alternative approaches, and proposes an implementation of a tmt plugin that integrates seamlessly with ReportPortal, via its REST API. The focus of the thesis encapsulates all steps behind a community-driven project, closely examining detailed aspects of design, implementation, and testing of all requested features of the plugin that actively resides within the tmt open-source project.

Test Results Management System Complementing the tmt Tool

This diploma thesis deals with the area of software testing, more precisely with the topic of managing test results. The aim of this work is to find, set up and implement a system that complements the missing functionality of the TMT tool, which is going to replace the Nitrate tool in Red Hat as a test management system. The content of this work is a basic introduction to the tools Nitrate, TMT and other technologies used in Red Hat. Furthermore, the work presents the current state of the test infrastructure and collected user requirements for a new system for managing test results. Subsequently, the ReportPortal tool is introduced as a system for test results management and the missing functionality is defined. The rest of the work is devoted to setting up the system itself and implementing the missing functionality, along with implementing the infrastructure needed to import test results into ReportPortal. The work describes the method of deploying the system in use and feedback from users. The deployed system is evaluated and its further possible improvements are discussed.

Výběr opensource nástroje pro správu testů

Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na výběr open source nástroje pro správu testů pro malý vývojářský tým působící v prostředí středně velké softwarové firmy, která se zabývá vývojem vlastního produktu. Cílem je na základě kritérií přizpůsobených konkrétní společnosti vybrat nejvhodnější nástroj pro správu testů. K dosažení tohoto cíle je nejprve vhodné popsat obecně testování softwaru, jako například životní cyklus a typy testů, dále také vymezit pojmy používané v práci. V dalších kapitolách je popsána společnost, pro kterou je nástroj vybírán s důrazem na současný způsob testování a případné specifické zvyklosti při testování v této společnosti. Následuje přehled nástrojů, ze kterých je vybíráno spolu s popisem jednotlivých kritérií výběru a metodou jejich vyhodnocení. Poté je proveden samotný výběr nejvhodnějšího nástroje a závěrem zhodnocení provedeného výběru. Výběr popisovaný v této práci a případné následné nasazení určeného nástroje dopomůže, společně s dalšími probíhajícími změnami, ke zlepšení oblasti testování a tím ke zvýšení kvality produktu dodávaného zákazníkům.
