The assumption is, that if a man or a woman chooses an attractive person of the opposite sex, such choise can be influenced by the indications of the economic status of the object of attraction. It was also assumed that women, unlike men, attribute greater importance of the economic status of their potential partners. The project was designed as a survey using printed questionnaires and questionnaires filled directly on the internet. The results demonstrated that the economic status does not affect the attractiveness of the person to the opposite sex. They have shown that the decisive criteria in making the choice is the physical appearance. This result corresponds to the trend, that the partnership (marriage) is losing its traditional productive economic significance and is increasingly based on the shared consumption. Therefore, the importance of the potential partner's economic status diminishes but the importace shared values gains.
