Humic acids in medicine and cosmetics

The main concern of this study was to form a web and literature search focused on the known theoretical knowledge, patent application and the actual realization, for the use of humic acids or material containing humic acids in human and veterinary medicine and cosmetics. The output is also a proposal to be promising directions in exploring these areas. The introduction deals with humic substances in general with emphasis on humic acids, history of humic chemistry and structure of humic substances. The second part deals with medical aspects, pharmacological effects and the use of humic substances in human medicine, veterinary medicine and cosmetics, also takes account of humic substances from the perspective of the environment. The task of third experimental part was to learn the basics of isolation and characterization of humic acids (measurement of IR and UV / VIS spectra and determination of moisture and ash in samples of humic acids).
Less conventional botanical sources of cosmetic raw materials

The aim of this bachelor’s thesis is an investigation of use of less traditional plant sources in cosmetic industry. This review is focused on black elder (Sambucus nigra), sea buckthorn (Hippophae rhamnoides), quince (Cydonia oblonga), dog rose (Rosa canina), and stinging nettle (Urtica dioica). The substances Isolated from these plants can be used in various cosmetic products. The first section of this search deals with history and botanical characterization of these plants. The next section deals with significant substances contained in these plants and their use not only in cosmetic industry.
L-ascorbyl-6-palmitate and its utilization in dietary and cosmetic supplements.

Bachelor‘s thesis deals with the effection of antioxidants in foods and cosmetics supplements. Some antioxidants as vitamin A and beta-carotene, vitamin E and tocopherols and vitamin C as L-ascorbic acid and her derivate L-ascorbate-6-palmitate are described here. This derivate can by used as an accessory material in cosmetics and foods preparations, especially in the preparations that contain oil or fats, because as a lipophilic compound keeps them from getting rancid.
Fragrances of plant origin

This thesis describes specifications of fragrances of plant origin, their origin and usage, methods of obtaining and ways of use them in cosmetics. Fragrances are mixtures of natural or synthetic character which give the aroma. In the nature, fragrances are produced mainly by plants. Aroma of blossom and other parts of plants is created by essential oils. From the whole number of 295 families of plants for about a third of them contains essentials oils which can be used in industry. More than 100 fragrances has been identified as allergens. Parfumed products allergies are relatively common. In connection of this problem synthetic alternatives of natural fragrances of plant origin are producing. In this way allergens are and also they will be widely discussed problem.
Occurence of potential alergenic components with metal content in cosmetic preparations

The aim of the bachelor thesis is to summarize potential allergenic metals contained in cosmetics, make an overview of raw materials used for cosmetics, and describe types of allergenic reactions caused by potential allergenic metals. All the metals presented are divided into two groups, from which one contains established allergens and the other one contains potential allergens, which can have influence on inducing of an allergetic reaction. There is shown a possible allergenic reaction for each metal, and its possible occurence in raw materials for a production of cosmetics, which are discussed in this work as well. There are also shown methods for determining the amount of metals in cosmetics. In the conclusion, there are mentioned some reasons of monitoring potencial allergens from series of metals.
Womens Buying Decision Process as Regards Cosmetics in Slovakia and Czech republic

The main goal of this bachelor thesis is to understand the current situation on beauty market in terms of preferences and tendencies of womens buying behavior. By understanding, what are the needs of customers, companies will be able to deliver effective marketing communications and gain competitive advantage. The thesis consists of two parts: theoretical and practical. The theoretical part provides the key information about decision buying process itself and the factors which have crucial impact on individuals behavior. Quantitative marketing research helped us to fulfill our aim by collecting the information through online questionnaires. Target group of respondents were women at the age of 20 to 50 years. Primary research was enriched by secondary data, which were provided by three different studies of domestic and foreign beauty market.
The use of celebrities in marketing communication of adidas women cosmetics brand

The objective of the diploma thesis was to evaluate the suitability of choosing beach volleyball representatives Kristýna Kolocová and Markéta Sluková as the new faces of the adidas brand women's cosmetics line. Following the introduction of the adidas brand is an account of products portfolio distributed by this brand, description of their communication and characteristics of communication of their main competitor. Secondary research prepared the necessary basis for the primary character. The means of the primary research was a questionnaire, which was distributed to 162 respondents mainly from the University of Economics. The result was a finding, that Kristýna and Markéta are known by approximately half of the subjects and that the absence of the main communication channel, television, was a probable influence on the awareness of the subjects about cooperation with the adidas women's cosmetics brand. The recommendation for future marketing campaigns is more intensive communication via internet and the use of television as the key communication channels.
Analysis of purchase behavior of consumers at the dermocosmetics market

The thesis focuses on the buying behavior of consumers at the dermocosmetics market in the Czech Republic with a main focus on consumers of brands Vichy, Bioderma, La Roche-Posay, Avene and Eucerin. The work is divided into two main parts, theoretical and practical. The first part is devoted to general theoretical knowledge in the field of shopping behavior of consumers, the buying decision process and its various stages. It also builds on the theoretical foundation of marketing research, its nature and process. In the practical part there is dermocosmetics market in the Czech Republic mapped together with the introduction of the above mentioned dermocosmetic brands. After secondary research follows the main part, which is the primary consumer research conducted through interviews with consumer of dermocosmetics, which is then compared with primary research of pharmacy staff selling democosmetics. The findings of the research are then formulated into practical recommendations given to the Active Cosmetics Division at L'Oréal.
Analysis of selected hypermarket chain in the cosmetics category by using operation research analysis

The topic of this diploma thesis is the application of certain operation research methods on a practical example. The main objective is to evaluate and compare hypermarkets of selected retail company on the basis of data from cosmetics department for the year 2013. In the thesis are firstly described theoretical assumptions necessary for understanding the decision theory and DEA models, next part is then focused on selected company and its history, current market position and the different types of store formats. Following practical part shows the application of multicriteria evaluation methods (WSA, TOPSIS, ELECTRE III) and DEA models (CCR and BCC) on concrete intern data and results which are then commented, compared and completed with recommendations, how to eliminate store or stores weaknesses, if needed. All calculations in the practical part of this thesis were done by the supplement of MS Excel -- Sanna and optimalization software LINGO.
Vplyv známych osobností pri výbere kozmetiky na českom trhu

The aim of this master thesis is to find out whether celebrity endorsement is influencing factor on decision-making process when purchasing cosmetics (hair care and skin care) in Czech market. Master thesis is divided into two main parts. Theoretical part describes consumer decision-making process, role of celebrity endorsement and examples how celebrity endorsement is used nowadays by L'Oréal. Practical part then focuses on analysis of consumer behaviour through quantitative (online questionnaire) and qualitative research (focus groups) in order to analyse what consumer thinks about celebrity endorsement and to which extent is Czech beauty shopper influenced by it. Thanks to these analyses I was able to identify the most influencing factors, position celebrity endorsement within this group and create set of recommendations regarding most important tools when promoting skin care and hair care products on Czech market.
