The Sensor Systems Design and Optimization for Energy Harvesting Applications
Žák, Jaromír ; Husák, Miroslav (referee) ; Bajer, Arnošt (referee) ; Hubálek, Jaromír (advisor)
Dissertation thesis is focused on using alternative energy sources called energy harvesting. This thesis offers a solution to problems with autonomous powering of sensor networks if primary power source recovery is impossible. In these cases, energy of the external power (e.g. temperature, light, motion) should be used. Proposed solution should be especially used in the field of medical applications (e.g. cochlear implants, pacemakers, insulin pumps). Long time monitoring of the personal health status is also possible when employing automated sensor systems. In this work, there is state of art review relating to the low power energy sources for an alternative powering of sensor systems. It was observed that existing systems are almost prepared for the implementation of energy harvesting power sources. The energy harvesting power sources have been developed by numerous researcher teams around the world, but there are only a few variants of power management circuits for effective energy gaining, storing and using. This area has a huge potential for the next research. The issues regarding to the distribution of gained energy are solved on the complex level in the thesis. For these purposes, a new simulation model of the whole system (fully implantable artificial cochlea) including its subcircuits was developed in the SPICE environment. It connects independent subcircuits into a single comprehensive model. Using this model, a few novel principles for energy distribution (e.g. Charge Push Through technique) was developed. In the near future, these techniques are also applicable to the design of versatile sensor systems.
The specialized social consultancy in sphere of hearing like a implement of improvement in social function
ENTLICHEROVÁ, Ivana
In my thesis I explain the basic terms in the field of hearing impairment. One of my topics is what is for hearing impairment people specialist social consulting and social functioning. I divide hearing impairment people according to their loss of hearing. I describe and divide compensatory aids for this target group: communication barriers (hearing aid, personal amplifier, turned-up cell phones), then for information barriers (an induction loop, wireless headphones and headphones for radios and TVs) and in the end barriers deal with a contact with an external environment (signalling of a door bell, signalling of time or others actions). Due to wideness of this problem I am focused on the communication barrier which is the most important one from the point of view of social excluding. Other communication barriers follow this one. I deal with a qualitative research using the method of "coincidence selection" and a technique of a semi-controlled dialogue. The research was done in Poradenské centrum pro sluchově postižené v Táboře.

The accounte of Animal Assisted Therapy for client with hearing-aid and cochlear implant
FRAŇKOVÁ, Zuzana
The thesis deals with a issue of significance of canistherapy for clients with hearing aid and cochlear implants. Canistherapy, as one of the forms of the zoo-therapy, represents a supporting rehabilitation method based on the contact of the man with the dog and their positive interaction. The theoretical part of the thesis contains the topical terminology of the zoo-rehabilitation and canistherapy, where the author makes the analysis of this topic and deals with influence of the canistherapy on the client with specific defects. Within the theoretical part also the issue of a hearing handicap is defined. The target of the thesis is describing canistherapy as supporting therapeutic method for children with hearing defects. The research is focused on applying the Animal Assisted Therapy method. Based on the qualitative research, four casuistic reports were created describing the importance of the canistherapy for children the hearing defects and their family. For the research, the method of participating observation was applied, method of the analysis of documents (method of the secondary data analysis) and a half-standardized talk. As supplementing method I selected questioning (technology of an questionnaire) with open questions and photo-documentation. The research was made on children of pre-school age after the cochlear implantation coming into the Special Pedagogical Centre for Hearing Handicapped in České Budějovice. The results of the research confirmed that canistherapy influences very positively the total development of the child personality, it contributes to the development of speech as well as communication abilities and psycho-social child development. The thesis may serve as information and study material for beginning and professional canistherapeutical teams, pedagogical, special pedagogical and further professional employees and also the lay public. The information may be disseminated in the form of lectures, by creating publications, leaflets etc..
Newborn hearing screening in the hospital České Budějovice.
ČÁCHOVÁ, Jana
This bachelor{\crq}s thesis deals with the screening of hearing of newborns in the Hospital of České Budějovice a. s. The results of the screening of hearing of all the children born in the Hospital in České Budějovice from 1.1. 2007 to 31.12. 2008 are stated here. The screening was performed by the method of establishment of presence of transiently evoked oto-acoustic emissions by Echo Check and Echo Screen devices. During the examination of newborns, the Hospital of České Budějovice a.s. and the Faculty of Health and Social Studies of the University of South Bohemia co-operated closely. The examined newborns were divided into two groups. The first of them, physiological newborns (not endangered group) are children, hospitalized at the station of physiological newborns. These children were born without apparent risks and their adaptation after the birth succeeded without complications. The second group, pathological newborns, (endangered group) are children hospitalized in the stations for pathological newborns; each of them has at least one of the following risks: positive family anamnesis, prenatal infection, weight under 1500 g, perinathal hypoxia, controlled and supporting ventilation, long-term oxygeno-therapy, jaundice VT or limit jaundice, neuro-infection, aminoglykosides, glykopeptides, diuretics, inherent impediments of the head and neck. The target of the thesis was the timely finding of hearing impediments of babies born in the Neo-nathological Department of the Hospital of České Budějovice a.s. This target was reached successfully. It follows from the results of this thesis that the share of endangered newborns with the absent transiently evoked oto-acoustic emissions at least on one ear is higher in the group of endangered newborns in comparison with non-endangered newborns, and there is a higher share of hearing defects in the group of pathological newborns in comparison with the physiological newborns. The postulated hypotheses were confirmed by these findings. This bachelor{\crq}s thesis shows the feasibility of the blanket screening in our conditions and its necessity for the timely discovery of hearing impediments and malfunctions.
